My 3 year old son loves cartoon especially PJ Mask so much to the extend he could watch it from 7pm to 3a.m in the morning

If you take him to the bed room he won't sleep, he cries and if not this cartoon no body watches any other program anymore.

He use to be very very intelligent before now, its seem this PJ Mask has entered his head.

Please help me, how can I stop him or distract him from this??

Moderation is key in everything. And as they say ; "too much of everything is bad "(excluding money )....There's no crime in allowing ur kid to watch education cartoons since it has its benefits but you should know its purpose is defeated if there's no deliberate restriction to his TV time. Things like that are highly addictive for kids if not closely controlled.

Solution? It's obvious your kid has watched so much toons he doesn't have much interest in other stuff and you can't afford to let that continue. These are his critical, formative years and what you expose his mind to will determine how intelligent he'll grow up to be.
I'll suggest you gradually and deliberately reduce his TV time while introducing him to other fun activities that will stimulate his imagination and creativity. Get him toys, kid puzzles and blocks, let you or your wife read him bedtime stories, get him an educational tablet, anything. Just create alternative ways for him to have fun and learn at the same time. With time, he"ll definitely adjust.

You most be one of those loose & useless parent
Being a parents does not end in paying of fees, buying clothes and food. You most go the extra mile to bringing discipline to bear in your home.
Allowing a kid to do whatever he or she likes is a mark of irresponsibility on the parts of the parents.

If you cannot control a 3 year old child now, I shake head for you ma. Where is your husband? You don't need to stop your subscription because of your child. My children watch cartoon as well but as soon as they hear my voice, they will change it to TVC news with speed. Discipline your child abeg madam

Same thing with my 4 years old son to the point that he gave himself the gecko,I the catboy and his mum owlet .we chop fist with their slogan (PJ marks on the way into the night and safe the day)but i need to stand with authority he had cried to bed several time and funny part we schedule channels

Don't subscribe for two months, it will reposition his interest when it's finally up again. From there, you can create and enforce new rules.

I don't allow my kids to watch while preparing for school in the morning, infact nobody will put it on.

Then I don't allow them watch it during homework time

By 9pm, they must be in bed lights out.

Note that it was a war enforcing this pattern before I declined to subscribe.

Be strong dear. TV is the best nanny ever, but be strong about this.

You and all the other guys condemning this lady is because you are men who know nothing about giving care to the child. Did you see any lady there talking rubbish?

The bond between mother and child is very different from the bond between child and siblings or dad.

You guys cannot understand how hard it was for this lady in bringing about a change, to the extent of crying to NL.

However, my case is different Helinues.

Somebody you should give his size and ground him from watching TV for weeks, you're here sounding defeated. If you cant control him now, I wonder when hes now a teenager what you'll do.

Turn on the tv station you want to watch. If he starts to react, give him a Stern look and if he doesn't behave, get the cane and whip his ass real hard. Yes hard because he seems to have grown tougher than you. So you need to break him down. I know you'll think I want you to kill your child. No! Just a strict dicipline to reset his brain otherwise, like you said, it will affect his academic performance and once that happens at the foundational stage, you might never get it right again.

In my years of experience as a teacher, I've observed that the slow leaners are the ones who are always glued to the TV. During class sessions, they won't respond but during break period you need to see them downloading all they saw in the cartoon movie with demonstrations too and you'll be like so this child can be this active and expressive... Only in the wrong things and not in their studies. Im talking about up to basic 5 level.

Yesterday, some of my basic 5 students were like, "miss J, this question is too difficult" during exams. And I was like, move to the next question then. And these are very cheap questions I set out of pity. If they studied instead of watching cartoons, they probably will not have difficulty answering those questions.

What I'm trying to bring out here is.. children naturally dont want to do the right thing any longer and if you allow them, you'll be the one to bear the brunt in the end.

May be you should set up time for him to watch let's say

How about engagement the child in other relevant activities.

Download some kids learning videos and the make sure you limit his TV watch time to 1 hour only.

I understand your pains as a father also, the burden of want to be a proud father who can be boastful of his children's intelligence and good behaviour. To me, I will advice you to set the TV on timer, that at a period of time it went off by itself, speak to your wife, for the sake of the child's growth, have a gadget free days, week (I mean switching off the TV) sometimes, put off the display that it's only audio output alone to listen to, that will make him lose interest, no matter how much you love your kids, let them know the importance of discipline. Not all time you listen to the whining, he's growing, if that is not done now, it might be hard to change that later. Spend much time with him most especially in his academics. I was once in a situation like this but to God be the glory, my daughter is now adjusting fine. Even her teacher confirms that (because she was once a girl who constantly talks, play and watch cartoons with no limits, even pressing phone, she will want to be seeing what you are doing on it, to crown it all, she doesn't sleep much at all) But I can say categorically, she's really doing fine now academically and behaviour at large ever since I've put somethings in place and create a boundary on what to and what not to. Please take charge as the father and the head of the house.

Baba na you cause am...when you be dey expose am to cartoon at a tender age you no no. One thing you don't know is the a 9 months old child knows whatever that goes on around him/her.

My kids 5&3 years are like that too. But now I am trying the method of not putting on the TV when is not time for them to watch. They will not watch and I won't watch too. Because as long as the TV is on they will basically do nothing but cry till you change to cartoon. And also keeping the remote where their hands will not reach. I have sacrificed watching some of my favorite programs because of these and trust me is working.
