If your friend (that you have never met) is truly a US citizen then he should know he can’t invite you and your wife to live and work in US.

However, a US employer can temporarily employ you if you’re in a specialty occupation and support your application for the H-1B visa.

Well said @cosade. I don't understand how some persons just believe whatever they want to believe. Invite to and come live and work? lol

Are you speaking from experience or you heard it from somebody? Because US embassy closed for routine visa services in March so how did people get K1 Visa approval during the lockdown. Please I want to know how they got it? Or you think filing for K1 is a 1 week thing?

Yes i think K1 is a day thing! grin
Speaking from experience!
K1 is a NON immigrant category(with immigrant intent)
The ban doesn't affect approval of application or visa issuance to both K1 and spousal visas(they get a waiver if interview goes well).
Covid obviously delayed so many interviews but applications were approved.
@ChiefDaddy1 pls don't get yourself confused with wrong information.

BREAKING: US removes reciprocity visa fees for Nigerians
44 seconds ago

The federal government announced on Saturday that the United States has removed all visa reciprocity fees for Nigerians seeking visas to the country with effect from December 3.

Disclosing this at the weekend, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the development was sequel to the removal of excess visa application, processing and biometric fees for American citizens applying for Nigerian visas.

It would be recalled that the Donald Trump administration had in 2019 imposed the reciprocity fee for all approved non-immigrant visa applications by Nigerians.

The fee was charged in addition to visa application fees for only applicants who are issued visas.

The additional reciprocity fees which ranged from $80 to $303 depending on the class of visa, took effect from August 29 last year. The US Embassy in Nigeria said the reciprocity fees were in response to unsuccessful talks with Nigeria to adjust the fees it charges American applicants. It argued that the total cost for a US citizen to obtain a visa to Nigeria was higher than the total cost for a Nigerian to obtain a comparable visa to the United States.

The Mission insisted that the reciprocity fee was meant to eliminate the cost difference as required by US laws. Announcing the removal of the reciprocity fee in a statement, the MFA spokesman, Ferdinand Nwonye, said, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that the United States Government has removed all visa reciprocity fees for Nigerian citizens seeking visas to the United States. “The positive development is in line with the removal of excess visa application, processing and biometric fees for United States citizens applying for Nigerian visas by the Nigerian Government.

“The United States Government has, therefore, eliminated reciprocity fees for Nigerian citizens with effect from December 3, 2020.” The statement titled, ‘Update on removal of visa fees for Nigerian citizens by the US Government,’ advised prospective travellers to the US to visit www.travel.state.gov for details

Hello all.
Please I just want to know if there is anybody in the same situation as I am. My visa fee paid May 2019 but couldn't get an available date and for some other reasons had the interview booked for 30th March 2020. Alas, Covid happened and all non immigrant visa applications/appointments were cancelled.
Now my paid visa fee has exceeded 1 year meaning it has expired. Will I have to pay again to book another appointment as this was not my fault that the fee expired?
@justwise @omobendel and other experts should kindly enlighten me on what to expect.
Note: I have sent a couple of mails through to them just before the 1 year mark and after the fee expired but was getting the generic response that I would have to pay another fee. This is really annoying.

Please can anyone suggest countries that are good references for travel history? The goal is to be able to apply for a visit visa to the US.

Also what other requirements do I need to have to boost my chances of being granted a visa to the US?

Is it possible to book a date for appointment now in Lagos?
I saw a screenshot of someone booked for March 2021 of B1/B2 appointment in Lagos.
I don't know if it's genuine or not.

UK,EU countries,Japan,South Korea,Australia,New Zealand. Sorry i forgot to add Israel which is arguably America's best ally.

You need solid ties to your home country(Nigeria) like a good job and some solid assets(House, plots of Land,Businesses etc)

The other requirement might be a good account balance just incase they check your account balance on your interview day.

Possibly you have logged in multiple times. So they may temporarily block you from using the site for few days if you persist with the log-in

I checked just last night and early this morning.
What is the best time to check for available dates. Is it possible to still get for March/April?

I can't really advise on available dates for March/April, at least first thing first is to see available dates. Then it can be rescheduled if your desired date is available. That's my suggestion.
