I rather think our uselessness is making him consider any pattern. Even Arteta couldn't think of what to do, him just tell them to dey cross simply to improve stats. lol

There came a time when Fans protested against Fourth Place. Many people see it as a Joke Now but they were absolutely spot on.

Really strange that people STILL do not see what the problem here was.

The club did not do enough to improve on top 4. Fans always sensed an opportunity to climb up a table with few additions here and there but Wenger and Gazidis could go in an entire window and sign no one.

Year on year club judged that staying still was good enough and then started falling away as those Teams lower than us improved. How do people not see that.

This really applies to most work/business situations. If you don't do enough to improve/better your skills, those below you will catch-up and eventually surpass your level.

That summer of 2015 when all we did was sign Cech is a classic example of just aiming to stay still. Club desperately needed an Aubameyang type Striker to take massive strides. God knows what could do with Aubameyang and Giroud as back up but Wenger decided Giroud was enough.

If we showed just a little bit of ambition and signed a proper striker to play with Ozil -who was one of the top three #10s in the world at the time, we could've won it. No doubt we could've won it.

All these Decisions and Summers and winters without signing anyone are coming to bite us now.

If you place that picture into a different context you will realised how lucky we were to have Arsene give us CL consistently despite little effort in the transfer market.

Since after Arsene we have been buying and buying yet little to show for it. It doesn't take buying to achieve success but buying well. If Arsene had the calibre to players we have now at his disposal, he will still finish top 4.

Arsene didn't have the luxury of unlimited resources as many of us think it, yet he managed to steer us into top 4 every season. We should be more appreciative now than criticising.

The mistake was from the club as there was no proper transition. Emery though a good coach was a misfit. The damage was that he gave out contracts to players that extended beyond his exit. This has made it difficult for the in coming coach to easily adjust the squad to his taste. Currently we have players not registered, yet the squad looks incomplete.

So our problem was not that Wenger did not buy, but that his transition and that of his successor was not properly planned at all.

Spot on. It's no wonder we have so many deadwoods then and there was no continuity and structure for incoming coaches.

2015/2016 season was one of the years I know I was dead mad at arsenal and I hated arsene Wenger in a footballing sense(I don't hate the man as a person oo). We had one of the most complete 1st team in the league but a weak bench. What was just needed was just a strong bench and a different variety of striker to giroud. What did he do? He brought in only Cech wen we were crying out for better players. Since that day, I hated arsene Wenger as an arsenal coach. Now see what arsenal have become cos we didn't plan and recruit properly
We Arsenal fans can be a pain in the ass.

That season we had Sanchez apart from Giroud. Is it not the same Sanchezque type we are asking for now? Is Giroud not still scoring goals for Chelsea at 34? We all felt Giroud shouldn't be a striker but that's until Chelsea signed him.

If we appreciate our own they will do well. This present squad lacks just one thing, Ozil (or any AM) and it's the club's politics that has led to this rather than Arsene not signing another striker in 2016.

Who will nod five goals per match?

Even if you join Giroud head with Sledge hammer, five goals per match is not possible.

Besides we had 44crosses against Spurs, yet just 2 on target. Check the ratio.
Exactly. But since Arteta was bragging about having 44 crosses against spurs, wetin we wan do?

Out of 44,only 7 went beyond spurs'first defender and only 2 were on target yet our coach was talking as if he outclass Mourinho.

In summary, lack of management has affected the club seriously...

Yes. We should be looking more at the board than the managers.

For example, Arteta was told not to play Ozil, yet no alternative was provided. How can we then blame the manager?

Tomorrow fans will say this season we could have won this or that if Arteta had signed an AM forgetting that he wanted to but the board restricted him.

If I may confess, there was quite an improvement in our overall play. This I believe is owed to having Lacazette play the AM role. His performance was encouraging. Though he lacked that trickery known for good AMs yet I noticed 2 or 3 defense splitting passes he made, being able to spot Auba and Nketiah's movements. He also made some runs from midfield into scoring positions which is very key for AMs. If he can continue to improve for us in that role it will be great.

Yea. .i did not watch the match but i can attest to this. I think the solution is to find a complete CF.Someone with good footwork and good aerial prowess. I don't know who fits this description. Martinelli? Balogun? Moller? Auba and Willian should be given time off to sort out their life.

Quick question.... Is giroud their main striker, abi because he scored for their last two matches you now feel we're missing him...lol? Abeg no make me laugh
It seems you just want to attack my post without reading deeper just because I called out/ attacked Wenger.

I said we have a first 11 that can win the title that season, what we just need to carry us all the way was a good squad depth and a different type of class striker to finish off ozil work. Yet we bought only Cech. Little wonder we fettered out towards the 2nd half of the season and bottled it against Leicester that year.

Arteta is different from Wenger. During Wenger's reign, he was given money yet he claimed the squad doesn't needs improvement. You seem to forget arsenal was a very rich club but it's just Wenger that's stingy. Wenger just used "Emirates rebuilding" to hide his stinginess

I'm not sure about the bolded.. Arsene Wenger was getting outdated as almost all the modern managers in the league were outwitting him.

It seems you've forgotten we finished 6th at his last season with us.

That season was full of bad blood due to Wengerout campaigns. Nevertheless Wenger then was passed his prime yet this squad is good enough for him to accomplish top 4.

Wenger will never make the mistake of not signing an AM. That's for sure.

I laugh when people say Wenger would do wonders with this team, maybe the Wenger of early years not the one that finished 6th, the league was easier then maybe they forgot.

I think Arsenal didn't upgrade on the departures of the f.f:
Monreal,( Kola should have been sold and Tierney made the 1st choice).

Koscienly- Luiz was not an upgrade
Iwobi
Welbeck
Ramsey

Forget that fairy tale that was sold to us. Arsenal never had money. We were restricted in the transfer market. Most times we needed to sell to buy. Wengerout only took the blame on behalf of the club, similar to Arteta taking the blame now for not playing Ozil. We know it's the board. Please do a little research, ask people you can trust.

Giroud is past his prime, so he can't be their main striker. But that's not my point. I only want us to criticize constructively, including myself.

I remembered how I washed AMN and swore on his head that he will never make it in football. Dude is one of my favorite now. I have learnt to look at people's case objectively, as what we see may not be reality.

Guess who our POTM for November is?

Oh well.. Let’s just say.. again.again & again.

Nothing to celebrate here, if anything it raises more concern about the mentality of this team. If I had a choice I will make him or Tierney our captain.

I desperately hope Arteta gives Azeez, ESR and Balogun starts. It is time to start giving these young guns good runs. I love what Chelsea is doing with Gilmour, as much as I hate to say it, that kid is going to be special especially if he stays healthy.

The only reason I don’t want to see Nelson tomorrow is because he has to start against Burnley, no questions asked. Same for Mari, I know it would mean playing 2 left footed defenders but can it be worse than what Holding has been dishing out over the last 3 games?

I am starting Xhaka because Niles should start on Sunday in that CM position. Xhaka should never start another EPL game, he has not done anything to deserve it.

My preferred lineup

.................Runnarsson...........

Cedric...Chambers...Holding..Kolasinac

Xhaka....Azeez

Pepe........... ESR...............Willock

Balogun

Why do you always misconstrue statements? FYI all the players you listed are currently doing well and having first team action in the different clubs they joined.

Arteta uses Xhaka for his numerous tactical switches (which I feel are useless anyways) doing games. His positional awareness allows him to play CM, LB, and CB all at once. Hence, he will always be in the main team, unless Arteta experiences an epiphany. smiley

My broda I don’t care about the nonsensical tactical switches he employs using Xhaka. Truth is, Xhaka does not deserve a place in the first team. If Arteta remains stubborn, then it may ultimately cost him his position.

If Arteta loses his position at Arsenal, he would almost have to do the Brendan Rodgers style to reinvent himself because I don’t see any competitive team in Europe investing in him if he gets fired from Arsenal. He may end up in the Championship, a tier 2/ 3 team in Europe. I just hope he sees this angle and starts making some serious changes.

Dominic Szoboszlai will be available this January for an exit clause of £22m. This is not the time to fool around, just activate his transfer. He is young, he is good (plays like a double footed Ozil), the way he was slicing through a defense like Atletico Madrid's, we cannot afford to miss him. Get him and Aouar or at least him.

I didn't say they are bad, I meant Arsenal didn't upgrade well on them. When Klopp sold players he brought in better players and most of them for an average,/lesser fee.

We should try and get Emiliano Buendia from Norwich city too.
He is the most creative player there and was top 5 most creative player in EPL last season.
I'm surprised he slipped through the radar of most EPL teams.
He will be an astute buy, he is double footed too. Basically the main reason Norwich sit pretty top of the championship currently.

Your point is noted. This shows that we don't have to break bank to solve our problems. But our lazy board won't see.

Well it showed both paragraphs in your previous post are not on par. Even then, I think our policy under Emery was to go for functionality rather than fame, which was good. But everyone is different and what was functional for Emery isn't for Arteta. So since Emery's exit was too early, Arteta is left with individuals he can't use.
