I applied for nursing in a state University but to my greatest surprise after meeting the cut off mark for the aforementioned course I was given electrical electronics engineering what is your advice to me

I understand you might not be too bright when it comes to Maths and Physics. I will go short, just try to change if possible or drop it totally. It's best to be in the right place.

That is absurd to start with!
Nursing and Elect-elect do not meet, what sort of University is that one that give nursing applicant, Elect-elect?

Could it be a mistake? Because you obviously didn’t do maths in your Jamb, so why should they give you Elect/elect

Instead of giving injection, the school wants you to produce remote control injection

some will rewrite jamb, some will reject the offer, others will go on with the course and adapt.

Reject the admission, else, you'll regret not following your passion for the rest of your life.

Both are equally good courses. Electrical engineering is very good. It's the best engineering course. Courses are shared with computer engineering and computer science.

I swear I dey part undecided

Applied for nursing with an A level result, instead they gave me industrial chemistry....Now I have to enter yellow house with a maths dry head...

I just pray I'll cope when ASUU calls off cause I'm scared asf,due to stuffs I heard about the so called yellow house.

A friend of mine who was also a bcp student and we were admitted for the same course had to defer the admission out of fear for mth201 grin.

Dear O.p, depending on what your passion for life is..make decisions based on em.

But if you're the formerly bright maths student, try to start retreating your maths courses in readiness if you decide to go on with it.

May you find light in whatever decision you plan to go on with.

Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a very good course and I am sure you won't regret taking it. I am currently a 500L student of EEE, The course is not as hard or scary as people perceive it, you don't need to be a genius or extra brilliant to do it, it's very practical and with time you will love everything about the course.

Just make sure you give it a good head start in your 100L because you're doing all the basic Elementary Subjects in secondary school. Don't be afraid of Mathematics and Physics because this Courses are essential for you as a science student.

What you need to do now is finding ways to sharpen your brains and charge up to take the EEE as it comes. Get previous materials from your school, get past questions, get your hands on textbooks online, access YouTube for tutorials on any topic, and you will be fine.

I hope this will help you to make a decision about settling down with EEE.

Exactly! EEE and CHE are one of the easiest engineering courses. even in my school..but some are really challenging like MEE and CVE..

You don't know what is going on. FYI, all engineering courses aren't equal. Maybe you have the "I'll remain in Nigeria" mentality but if you aim to japa after your studies, then it's important you know that all engineering courses aren't equal.

If it was biochemistry or microbiology, one can understand but elect/elect? Please rewrite JAMB. The vast majority of students who choose biology based courses are fairly or poorly knowledgeable in maths and engineering is largely about mathematics. Unless, you had at least a B in maths in your WASSCE, I can say go ahead but for your sake of avoiding horrible grades esp in the first two years if you accept elect/elect, rewrite JAMB. Preferably choose a different university because it's apparent that this university's administrators are not thinking properly.

It seems you don't know who u mentioned..Mr Man,I am informed in terms of engineering..
I have mentors in USA,UK practicing engineering...I repeat!,all engineering fields are equal... don't just judge base on salary alone..yes elect, aeronautical are very lucrative..but they both have their functionality and they are different and unique in their ways...
Engineering has to do with application of science to solve problem..it also deals with conceptualization...so engineering practitioner of any branch can solve problem relating to his/her field...
The same opportunity/scholarship that is opened to electrical engineering students are also opened to chemical, civil and so on... maybe the high cut off marks you need to study elect in a Nigeria uni is what is confusing you..or the lies your lecturers told you guys..
A white person practicing engineering can never say one engineering course is the BEST..go to quora ,this issue had been addressed before some time ago...

Some of your points are funny though, Having a "B" in Mathematics?
Well Humans can always learn and adopt new knowledge and skills, so for not getting a good O level grade in Mathematics can't determine if you can succeed or not in the course of study.
