Picture below is our today hybrid sucker delivery to Owode, Ogun State. Whether you will smile to the bank at harvest time or not privilege to visit the bank to deposit your farm out pit depend on the following factors: 1. If you have planted a viable hybrid sucker 2. If your soil fertility is good enough to supply needed nutrient 3. If you are able to control weed, disease and natural disaster 4. If your farm manager is knowledgeable enough to manage your plantation All these factors above play together to determine your output at harvest.... Kenfarm will help you put all these factors to your advantage.

Vital info for new plantain plantation owner The info was necessary because of Qs new and potential plantain farmer usually ask on my SM pages 1. When a sucker is 6months, it has attain puberty and any treatment in terms of nutrient addition is a pure waste of time and resources. All nutrient application is to be done b4 the sucker is 6months. It takes the sucker 5-6months to take all it need to produce good fruit from the soil. Any further application of nutrient after 6months will only make the sucker pseudo-stem grow fatter. I don't think you intend to sell the pseudo-stem 2. A sucker stem that has not bear a fruit will always continue to grow even when it cut off. But the moment it bear fruit it has completed it life-cycle. So whether you cut it or not, it will whether off. This is the reason we often cut off the sucker after cutting off the bunch. Cutting off the sucker will enable more offspring to shoot out around the parent. 3. After 4weeks of transplanting, always apply fertilizer (NPK 12:12:17). If you have access to potash (Eru from Aro) then apply to the base of each stand. When the sucker attain puberty, then heap soil round the base to fortify the root and to enhance more suckers growing around the parent. For more info, contact kenfarm Cheers!! |

Note the observation below from kenfarm......info useful to farmers clearing their farmland at the moment!! In some cases, farmers will usually like to Rake the farm to remove all dead weed cum burnt sticks but we usually advise that the dead weeds and the burnt sticks should be left on the farm land to decay. The more they decay, the more microbial activities increase which inderectly increase the organic matter concentration on the soil. When the soil organic matter increase, reuptake of nutrient increase and Evapotranspiration reduce leading to increase in moisture content of the soil. Hence, do not clean up the farm land completely with Rake. Inorganic manure enrich the soil over a long period of time. Also note that the use of herbicide is to be reduced at this period as the rain pours down insesantly and applying herbicide just after a rain fall or just before the rain fall is a waste of time. The rain water will dilute the concentration of the herbicide and your application will amount to a waste of precious time and resources. Rather, do manual weeding with the appropriate farm tools at this rainy season Cheers!!

With the climate change together with global warming, it is technically obvious the rain fall pattern has totally changed to the direction not favourable to farmers in any way. If you are a farmer that depends on rain water as your source if water for your crop, you will observe what we call "August Break" is almost going into extinction. Last season and this season, we did not feel the impact of "August Break" Last season, some of the farm I consult for had similar challenge in respect to poor yield which obviously was attributed to poor rain fall. The set back the lack of rain caused and may cause again this season is enormous. Base on this, kenfarm strongly advise commercial farmers and potential farmers to include irrigation installations in their budget as the present rain fall pattern is becoming irregular. How is the rain fall pattern around your farm area?? |

One area that can be more challenging in plantain fatming is getting market for your fruit. After you have invested material resource and human resources on that farm land, harvest time is the time to know whether you recover your input or lose everything to buyer who will take advantage of you. If you spend the whole year caring for your plantain plantation and forget the fact that creating your market start from the day you transplanted the suckers, then you have yursrlf to blame. The implication is that your fruit will all produce good yield but you be shock to know that the only available buyer are the bolly sellers who will offer to come buy at farm gate and pay you #200 per bunch ( e shock yu?) Or bad enough you pay for harvesting the fruit, pay labour to bring them out of farm and pay transport to take it to the market then you settle down to sell and the whole sellers at the market will be pricing a bunch for #300 or max #400 They will even tell you they are doing you a favour by buying it off from you. Then you tell yourself, these stuff are perishable. The more they stay, the more they lose market value. Sadly you eventually sell them off and return home sad. Make no such mistakes. The benefit if involving professional in the business is to guard you through a whole planting cycle. I mean to say you need the services of professional like kenfarm who will not only sell viable suckers to you. We sell suckers to our esteem client and continue to give them follow up from pre- planting to planting to post planting. We would give you some clues as to how to recover your investment withing a period if time and we also give you clues as to how to make your plantation sustainable. For you to accomplish your plan and retrieve your investment, 3 key factors must be played well 1. You must plant a viable sucker 2. Your farm soil must be fertile 3. The management of the plantation must be man by an experienced farmer If any of these factors is faulty, I can assure you frustration will surely set in and you will definitely lose your investment if you do not quickly seek for intervention from experience farmers like kenfarm Downloading info from Google can never be enough to manage farm. Watching video on you tube can never be a good way to gain skill needed to manage your plantation. Y? Because which ever way you manage your plantation depends on 1. The out come of your soil fertility 2. The geographical location if your farm 3. The biological factors and enviromental factor peculiar to your farm 4. The availability of labour I can go on and on The bottom line is that those info you get online may not be applicable to your farm due to the factors listed above. Every farm is unique. MULCHING It is a farming practice which involve shielding the base of the primary crop to totally prevent sunlight from getting in contact with weed around the base of the primary crop. When the weed can not get sunlight which is the catalyst of photosynthesis (feeding mechanism of plant), the weed will never grow up. Thus, the base of the primary crop will be weed free. This practice of preventing the weed from growing around the base of the primary crop have the following advantages: 1. It prevent competition for available nutrient. When competition for nutrient between the primary crop and weed is eliminated, then the growth rate of the primary crop will increase remarkably and yeild will also improve. 2. It makes the base of the primary crop to be moist at all time. When the base is moist, exchange of gas increase thereby increasing macro and micro nutrient movement. 3. It indirectly increase the organic matter of the soil Kenfarm embarked on an experiment to test for the effectiveness of using bags to cover the base of the primary crop as method of mulching Experiment: kenfarm apply bags of poultry manure on the farm in May, 2020. After application, I instructed my staff to tear open the base of the bag. After which they wear the bag from the top resting on the base. Son that the entire base is covered with the bag. Control experiment: 200 suckers were cover with the bag at the base while 200 suckers were not covered. So after covering the 200suckers base, we then apply herbicide on the whole of the 400suckers. Observation: After 2months after, ken farm visited the farm to check for the growth of weed. It was observed that the suckers that are not covered with bags at the base had planting of weed while the suckers that are covers at the base had zero weed ( no weed). Result: After 4month September, 2020), kenfarm visited to assess the growth rate of both the experimental crop and the control crop 1. As seen in the picture, the experimental crop which is the suckers covered at the base with bags was noticed to have a very speedy growth and look very healthy 2. The control crop which is the suckers that were left uncovered was observed to have plenty of weed to contend with for nutrient. Thus, they look distressed and appear to have slow growth rate. Conclusion: using of bags to cover the base of the primary crop is an effective method of controlling weed also known as mulching. Consult with us....08038623884

The picture below showing the physiological effect of prolonged lack of rain on your plantain stand. If your plantation do not get enough water for a prolonged period of time. The following will be the effect: 1. The plantain stand will look distressed and the leaf apear yellow 2. The fruit will be very small 3. The hollow colouration of leaf reduce chlorophyll and this leads to reduced rate of photosynthesis which mean the food pathway of the crop will be compromised 4. The growth rate of the plantain in your plantation is reduced 5. Your fruit will no longer command a good market value What you can do are: 1. Construct a mini irrigation by using the machine in the picture below if you have a source of water 2. Apply enough organic manure during the raining season to increase the organic matter of the soil 3. Practise the use of leaf or other recommended materials to cover the base of every stand of the plantain to reduce everpotranspiration

Ken4agent:If I don't have Npk Can't I use Poultry manure as the Fertilizer How many bags of acre will go for an acre |
Re: Treated Giant Hybrids Elephants Plantain Suckers Here For Sale Rapid Fruit by kenfarm(m): 11:07pm On Jan 31, 2021 |
Nezzdeyforyou: Poultry manure is not a substitute to NPK. Bother don't make same Qty & type of nutrient available to the soil.....while NPK introduces NPK to the soil in the manufacturer proportion, poultry manure intricuces mostly Nitrogen and organic matter to the soil. So where you can't get NPK, poultry manure is not a substitute. Which fertilizer to use, what Qry to use, when to use it and how to use it is determined by a soil test you conduct on the soil You may consult us or visit my URL for more info Cheers!! |

Client Question: Why do I need to cultivate a plantain plantation? MERITS OF PLANTAIN Plantain is also a diuretic so is useful for kidney and bladder problems. It is taken throughout the day as a tea to help the kidneys and bladder. It is used in bed-wetting challenges. It also helps dropsy and water retention. Sometimes diuretics should be teamed with a demulcent herb to buffer the effects on the kidneys. There is no research or recommendations that taking plantain tea requires ones. Actually, plantain itself is a demulcent also. Visit my URL to a more educating benefits of plantain(www.kenfarm.com.ng).
