So some days ago i was arguing with some of my colleagues at work and the argument was; whether buying/owing a car is an achievement.
For me i said yes it is though not an investment except you're using it to generate income as well, but my colleagues opposed me saying it's not an achievement.
Fellow NL what is your opinion, is it an achievement or not. If you can also give your reasons(s) i will appreciate it.

In this part of the world where making a living is very difficult. Owning a car is an achievement. but in saner climes, it's just a necessity and a must have for every family especially in case of emergencies.

Maybe we should first of all google/check the definition/meaning of an Achievement before abusing or giving our opinion

But i think if one is able to afford something that is necessary in life it's an achievement, correct me if i'm wrong.

For me buying anything worth over a million naira in Nigeria is an achievement

If you like buy ordinary slippers of over 1 million I count it as achievement so far you raised the money legally

Trust me millions are damn hard to raise in this economy, it's completely different from raising tens of thousand

Ordinary two million I need to raise for something I know how killing, inconvenient, hard and sacrifice-demanding it is

I once knew an INEC officer. After every general election he will buy a car.This man do not have a house in his name.The worst of it all is that,,,,,it won't be up to 3 months before he will off the car and go on being broke again.
so is owning a car achievement? No.

In my humble opinion, the money u used to buy a car should be money u can afford to lose, money that of stolen u dont mind

I have never ever spent more than 10 percent of my total worth on a car.

A car is not an achievement. Its a means of mobility which u should get if u need it, but make sure u have enough in savings after buying the car, and that u can afford to maintain it

Whatever you set up to be your goal is an achievement and if buying a car is your goal, then that means you've achieved when you finally buy a car

To some owning a car is an achievement, while others see it as mobility.

For me I see owning a house as a better achievement than a car.

Even if a house get burnt, the land will always be there for rebuilding but a car can easily go out of fashion or be stolen.
