The Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has ordered the closure of all public and private schools in the state.

In a terse statement by the state commissioner for Education, Sanusi Kiru, the state government did not give reasons for the decision.

“His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Kano State has approved the closure of all public and private schools in the state with immediate effect.

“Parents whose children are in boarding schools are to also arrange and convey their children/wards back home from tomorrow, Wednesday, 16th December, 2020.

“All inconveniences are regretted,” the statement added.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that as escalation in the cases of COVID-19 infections in the country forces some states to shut down schools, resurgence of abduction and banditry forces others to take the decision.

In the wake of mass abductions of schoolboys in Kankara, the Katsina State Government shut all boarding schools in the state, while the Zamfara State Government, which shares borders with Katsina, took a similar decision to forestall recurrence of the Kankara incident.

On the spike in coronavirus cases, the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has shut down schools in the state, following reported resurgence of COVID-19 infections in the state.

Like Kaduna, Jigawa Govt Orders Closure Of Schools Over Rising COVID-19 Cases.

The Jigawa State government has announced the closure of public and private primary and secondary schools across the state.

It directed that the schools should be closed with immediate effect from Tuesday following the increasing cases of coronavirus in the country.

The acting Permanent Secretary at the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Rabiu Adamu, made the announcement in a statement released to reporters in Dutse, the state capital.

He advised parents and guardians to prepare for the evacuation of their children and wards back home from Wednesday, especially those in boarding schools.

Amid the rising numbers of infections in Nigeria, the Jigawa State Task Force on COVID-19 said 14 new cases were reported from various parts of the state
.

Of the new infections, 11 were said to be National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state.

The closure of schools in Jigawa follows a similar decision taken by the Kaduna State government as part of measures to curb the spread of the virus in the north-western state.

All schools must be closed it's this time (almost end of the year)
What does closing schools after exams implies? it's holiday
but for corona people is a threat.
They should not worry we'll use the same methods we fought the first wave with against the second which are dennying the virus, refusing the protocols , sharing of masks and social closeness.

I come In peace

Wicked, heartless, evil govt always dancing to the tune of world health and there sponsors for loan.

It will never be well with the paid agents spreading this rubbish. All of a sudden the numbers started rising,so the virus went on vacation all this while and just returned?

Everybody young and old should be ready for a show down with this evil govt in case they misbehave.
I pity politicians and there families especially those that hoard palliatives, they will all be lynched if they enforce any lock down.

This open and close.
For how long is it going to continue?
If It has to do with kidnapping and banditry, how effective will the closure of schools curb it?
Doesn't make much sense to me.

Reading and writing doesn't connote sophistry. Are they now advanced with all their reading and writings?
Stop consoling yourselves. Embrace knowledge and wisdom that can improve your lives instead of all these first to read or write supremacy battles.

Schools and churches are their problem but not markets and mosques. Northerners are mentally lazy, they hate western education and knowledge of Christ. Can they stop election rallies because of covid-419?

North will remain backward forever.
