The Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, has said Nigerians need adequate security and restructuring of the country much more than who occupies the presidency.

The governor, who taunted those who he said were running around the country because of their presidential ambition, said those politicians would soon know better.

Makinde, in a statement on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa, was quoted to have spoken in Ibadan at the handover of 33 operational vehicles and 396 motorcycles to the Oyo State Security Agency, popularly known as Operation Amotekun.

He had earlier given 25 vehicles to the police and Operation Burst to combat insecurity in the state.

Makinde said, “I have heard some of our political leaders jostling around and saying they want to become the president of Nigeria in 2023.

“I think what we need at this stage is to secure our people and restructure Nigeria. It does not matter who is the president in Abuja. In a restructured Nigeria, every corner of the country will feel the impact of government. That is what we need.
“May God protect those running around for presidency till 2022. By that time, we will meet and, by then, we will get to know whether it is restructured Nigeria or Yoruba presidency that we really need.”

Although he did not mention Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress leader had been travelling to some parts of the country while his foot soldiers have been going round to solicit support for his presidential ambition.

Makinde lauded Amotekun, saying the impact of the security agency was being felt all over the state.

‌“If we cannot get state police now, this country will get there. We have community policing, but we need to do better than that. But, in the absence of the state police, we have our own Amotekun Corps and the operatives are doing very well, “ he added.

The Commandant of the Amotekn Corps, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (retd), said the corps would do everything possible “to stem the tide of rising security challenges, particularly during this festive period.”

Some people wants to be president but yet they have not told us how they intend to make things better or the plans and policies they are are going to adopt except using funny groups to push their agenda.

Anybody who wants to be the president should tell us his plans on security, power devolution, agriculture and not giving people money to talk rubbish.
In this dispensation, many states have built airports, stadiums and many wonderful projects but those who can't tackle traffic and only share money for elections want to be president without any visible plan

; all Nigeria needs is for that lifeless zombie president to resign and go back to his beloved cows

Tinubu keeps fooling himself that he will rule this country but I guarantee him, even in Lagos, he may not win.

Nigeria needs restructuring and regions that have not produced the president for the sake of equity should be given the opportunity to run the country as a profitable enterprise.
Like Bishop Oyedepo will say, for a church or a country to be successful it must be run like a business, the Catholic Church for instance build schools and generate revenue to run the schools and carry out charity activities.
Nigeria has not been been able to generate much revenue outside oil and taxes and borrowing from China, the average Fulani politician depends entirely on Govt patronage including Dangote who enjoys Nepotic monopoly.
Buhari has enabled them to occupy virtually all the most sensitive positions where the keep recruiting their people clandestinely like we heard this week about NCC, the same thing happens in NNPC, CBN, PENCOM etc.

Other Nigerians have been cowed to the point that anyone who raises objection to the above trend is termed Igbo and IPOB member including by those who are supposed victims of this abnormality by this administration.

There's no point talking, Seyi Makinde, how do you plan to actualize this wonderful dream as a governor? The South is not really united at the moment which would make it very difficult. SW, SE, SS all hate each other while the North is relatively united (except Middle Belt), how can you argue this on the floor of the senate?
