Muslims believe the Quran is the only incorruptible book of God, they say the Bible which God gave to the Jews/Christians was corrupted.

Let us examine a passage from the Quran which contradicts itself about God's ability to have a partner or son.

Note: The debate here isn't whether God has a son or not but whether he has the ability to

Quran 21:17
Mohsin Khan: Had "We" intended to take a pastime (i.e. a wife or a son, etc.), We could surely have taken it from "Us" , if We were going to do (that) .


In this passage Allah is speaking himself when he tries to discount the idea of the Trinity.

Notice that he said explicitly that he doesn't have a son or partner but he has the ability to have a son or partner because he would choose such from one of his other self which makes up the "We" or "Us".

In another verse of the Quran it contradicts this clear ability of Allah.



Al-An'am (The Cattle) - 6:101

The Originator of the heavens and the earth! How could it be that He should have a child without there ever having been a mate for Him - since it is He who has created everything, and He alone knows everything? - 6:101

This verse is saying Allah can not have a son simply because he can't have a partner. E.g "How could it be"

Is the writer of this verse Allah, because he previously said that he has the ability to do such?

The speaker here clearly seems to be a man who can't comprehend Allah but assuming on his behalf.

The conclusion on the Quran 6:101 is simply a conclusion from a man's personal understanding E.g "without there ever having been a mate for Him" he can't understand how God can choose a mate first so he concludes he can't birth a son.

But Quran 21:17 says he can choose a mate from his own self (That's why it could be)


A God can not claim to be able to do something in one passage and doubt how it becomes possible to do it in another passage.

God doesn't make mistakes, he doesn't contradict himself, nor does he forget his ways.
