The defence headquarters says the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji successfully rescued all 344 abducted students of Government Science Secondary School Kankara, Katsina state.

Bello Matawalle, governor of Zamfara, and Bello Masari, his Katsina counterpart, had separately said the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association played a major role in the release of the schoolboys.

But in a statement on Friday, John Enenche, spokesman of the defence headquarters, said the military rescued the captives, thanking “the members of general public who volunteered information are also appreciated”.

He said the students were rescued “on the heels of credible intelligence by the gallant troops”, with high degree of professionalism to ensure they were all rescued alive.

Yinka Odumakin has consistently constitute nuisance, painfully they claimed to be representing Yorubas in their foolishness. Now that they have making themselves strong opposition to the government, what will be the benefit of Yorubas in this their unthoughtful opposition. I am highly disappointed in this kind of statement by Afenifere issued by his spokesman, Yinka Odumakin. It is people like Odumakin and some so-called Afenifere chieftains who are fueling crisis in Nigeria with inciting statements.
How can a reasonable individual and group call the kidnapping a scam? It is a crime that government used every available means to ensure the children were released in time? Even a PDP governor attest to the kidnapping and played key roles in the negotiation for release of the students.
I am not really surprised about Afenifere and its spokesman actions. We know where they belongs to and their paymasters.
As far as I am concerned, Afenifere has lost its voice and relevance after the death of Pa Obafemi Awolowo, Pa Adekunle Ajasin and Senator Abraham Adesanya.
