I went to one of my friend farm last week Saturday, I noticed he has abandoned his cocumba harvest and I ask him why? He said " those he pluck to market was sold 1k-1.2k, why Greengo was 6k-7k in akure." The complain is,not too green and soft. Personally, I don't blame him because there was no greengo seed as at the time he want to plant. We all cocumba farmer should learn a lesson from this my friend,we should not just plant any seed, the result can be disheartening!!! that particular seed he plant is Olivera, not sure about the spelling though.

on a serious note not every cucumber variety is meant for commercial farm production, some varieties are meant for garden, ornamentals, hobbyists, etc,if you look closely at the oliveria variety farm you will see more reasons the farm was abandoned,it is diseased by DM and others, farmers should not just plant any variety because it is easily available, any seed to be planted must have been proven in rainy, dry, harmattan seasons,I cannot help but remember when we planted pointsett cucumbers ,it was a very very hilarious experience.

if you have not planted that variety before or seen the production during dry season before ,you have to be wary, some varieties perform better during rainy and some prefer dry season, whatever the variety be sure it will survive 36c temperature and yield, the cost of irrigation and increased manpower needed to farm cucumbers during dry season makes it all too sensible to use well proven varieties like Murano,cu 999,darina,etc,instead for me to plant anyhow variety because of scarcity of preferred seeds,I will process and plant the f2 second generation it is better.

it is good but the variety is always scarce in the market,it is not something that is always available, you must plan ahead if using greengo

it depends, sometimes I irrigate once in a day, sometime twice,30 minutes, why sometimes 15 minutes. Bottom line, when you are use to your crop, you will know when. Based on my experience 15 minute in the morning and 17 minute in the evening will do during this dry season.

bro it normal to loose few stand. I did up to 500 supply in this particular project. I think 1 stainless cup should be enough for each stand in a day.

Mr. Okoro I need your advice. I have it in my plan to prune like two time but there is no chance again (visitors here and there, and new year stuff) and I don't want labourer to prune it without me there. Below picture is 3 base branch from one stand. Do you think it will affect size of fruit? What your opinion?
