Bravelady: Best thing to do is start applying for Factory jobs and call centre jobs from Naija just before you come. Doing a business needs networks and you cant build the network you need immediately you come which is why the job route is best. If you are not married minimum wage in Ontario should afford you a room and transportation and food to give peace of mind while you figure out your plans. 8 Likes |

Baiser: Come with your driving history from naija so you can be issued a G1 driving lisence. Then you take driving lessons and do the test then get G2. Then buy your car and sign up for Uber. be sure to get the right vehicle though. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Baiser:get a car loan instead. Pof is about 12k.a 2019 model car costs more than that. You can consider food or parcel delivery, you can use older cheaper cars for that 1 Like |

Hey guys.. I’m moving to Calgary early January. I want to rent a place for quarantine and stay a couple of months afterwards. What areas can I look to for a decent, safe and inexpensive accommodation. I don’t know anyone in Calgary. |

Baiser: Your original Nigerian driving license will suffice. Upon landing in Canada, you will get a letter Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa- they will need your Nigerian driving license to get this letter. You will then take this letter to the DriveTest location close to you. After passing your G1 test, you can book an appointment for the G2 test immediately, just make sure you employ the services of a driving instructor(before going for the G2 test), even if you know how to drive. Driving in Canada is different from Nigeria-those road signs can be a little confusing. 9 Likes 3 Shares |

Hello, When you get a job in Canada, what are the things you will need before you start work. Is the SIN process long, can i get it in a day considering the COVID situation. Thank you. |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by AnthonyAk(m): 10:14pm On Dec 21, 2020 |
wizzzz: They print the SIN number on a piece of paper and give it to you. You will need a sin number to work. Did you have any jobs in mind? |

I just feel like putting this out there for those, who like me at some point, are having doubts about whether or not to move (if Buhari is not enough reason) and that nagging fear of the unknown...I've just been here 3 months, so my experience is only limited to Calgary where I live and may not be broad-based enough, but I can say Canada is not a bed of roses, neither is it a bed of thorns. If you're humble (and willing to shave off some of the ego that we're conditioned to back home), you will ALWAYS find something to do to pay your bills whilst you work your way to where you want to be, even during this COVID era. So if your concern is immediate survival, you will find something to pay the bills and keep you afloat. Just to give you a clue, between my spouse and I we pull in about $5500 after taxes on our basic jobs (that is we're not working in our fields yet) and we are sorted with change left. Do not let any stories that you hear discourage you. For every one discouraging story, there are 20 stories of encouragement. Our paths are very different and unique. Keep your faith and optimism intact, Canada can, and will deliver to you what you work for. Finally, HAVE A REASONABLE AND ACTIONABLE PLAN(S), don't come and coast. Compliments. 50 Likes 2 Shares |
