Vision4God: Are You a staff of Exxonmobil, that's by the way. What is the simplest safety rule in Exxonmobil ?, I guess not adhering to procedures. Do Exxonmobil staffers or contractors catch samples with procedures (written procedures) or do their maintenance crew do all jobs with procedures. My point is that all Oil Majors only care about production and profit. They don't care about workers. That's why most of the oil majors have more contractors relative to staff, and as a rule. A contractor health or death is not the oil Majors business. Infact, a contractor is not a living thing to an oil Major. RIP to the dead 3 Likes |

Akwa Ibom people are more civilized than others who would have started serious problem with exxonmobil just to cease the opportunity to cause unnecessary damages, which would have metamorphous into death and destruction of properties. God bless these peaceful people. 3 Likes |

kenchop:BP had the most impressive Safety performance record before the Macondo Blowout incident happened. That an incident or accident happened in an Exxon mobil facility doesn't mean that safety issues are treated with kid's glove. The guy you quoted is 100% right! Exxon Nigeria doesn't joke with safety. You can easily get fired for unsafe behaviours. 2 Likes |

Oil is no longer a blessing. The world is moving away from oil. Germany generate my energy with renewable source than the whole of Africa. Venezuela has oil badges floating at sea that nobody want. Gone are those days when nations wealth is judge my their oil deposits. Cyberterror: |

Cyberterror:Don’t Let ipob hear that, they may want to claim it on their exodus from Nigeria as their Navy base, like the oyibos on their exit from Egypt plummeted everything in sight from religion, culture, treasure name it, they stole on their exit, now ipob says they are Jews, & want to leave Nigeria, we have to be very weary of those snakes. |

jojofola:Were they meant to hide it? Bloomberg has already reported the news, If the force Marjeure is not declared in that remote village, how will the buyers in Texas USA know what happened? In as ineffectual as it maybe, many people are still getting paid of the system, if you can’t beat them, join them, to know your way around town no be curse. |

That's not true , I wont call names or locations where an accident occurred and a life was lost. They kept on following shortcuts till that fateful day an accident occurred and a life was lost. From the safety guy on ground to the production line manages all know shortcuts were taken, but they all kept quiet because they were more concerned in the money the company was making. I always tell workers I supervise to work safe at all time cos if you kill yourself, work will continue and your family will suffer because in most of the cases I have seen , the company heaps all the blame on the victims and in such a case no compensation. For there to have been an explosion that means there was gas leak(valves not shut off) and gas test clearance would have been part of the permit to work issued. Too bad, RIP to the dead. 1 Like 1 Share |

banio: For you to say that an oil major does not care about the life of it's workers is a lie from the pit of hell! I have worked in a very senior position in a manufacturing multinational where people are penalised for minor offences such as not wearing their hard hat in certain areas therefore I know that adhering to safety protocols is even more serious in international oil companies. If you don't know keep quiet, don't come here and bamboozle people with lies |

SavageResponse: My know know, continue knowing. At least I also know what I know. Do You know what is positive isolation, double block and bleed, LOTO, suction valve, pressure let down valve, permissive to start, kick in, vent, drain, strainer, pigging, SPM, first line maintenance etc. At least You know I know. Most importantly, Oil Majors don't count contractors as part of them. Infact they don't know you. You can't sue them, because nothing joins a contract worker to an Oil Major. So if You are fortunate to work there, just be CAREFUL and pray always. And stop insulting people on social media because of LOW SELF ESTEEM. 1 Like |

banio: Don't mind the dude you quoted, he knows little or nothing about the unethical practices of oil magnates especially in oil rich 3rd world countries ridden with corruption as it concern best global safety precautions and practices. Oil companies are desired jackals and coyotes many wish to work, they have the right kind of money to make you deny your mother gave birth to you. Imagine, many people commented on a story they didn't even understand the English words in which it was written. "Two supervisors went to put on the gas flaring plant that was shutdown for maintenance. The victims were told to light up gas flare plant which is the excess gas from the flare,” the source said." This part clearly shows you there was a maintenance due some of the installation yet they failed to do it. Rather, they tried spin the story by saying workers lit up the gas flaring plant despite a scheduled maintenance in progress. In the Oil industry, the last thing they pay attention to is gas flaring and all players have adamantly refused to invest in that side of operations. |
