Believers are eternally secured in Christ

Hebrews 10:10-14 (KJV) By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

So what did Paul and Peter mean at Philippians 2:12 and 2Peter 1:10?

It says work out your salvation, not work for your salvation, because there is a power at work in the believer to do good work

This in context was not about the believer losing salvation, or else the author will be contradicting himself.

many think that the author is saying that if person claims to be a Christian but “draws back” he was either not saved to begin with, or he loses his salvation. Since the author of Hebrews knows a person cannot lose their salvation (10:10, 14), we know that he is not talking about such a situation.

The book of Hebrews was written in the time of persecution, so that the writer encourages believers to stand firm in the faith. Heb. 10:36-39 was encouraging the stand firm in the will of God, it was not referring to believers losing their salvation.

There is absolutely no where in Heb. 10:36-38 that believers can lose their salvation.

2 Peter 2:20-22 (KJV) For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

This is context was talking about false prophets and teachers, preaching damnable heresy

2 Peter 2:1 (KJV) But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

The message of grace glorifies Christ and does deny the works of Christ. wink

Romans 8:35 Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ's love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture:
Romans 8:36 They kill us in cold blood because they hate you. We're sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one.
Romans 8:37 None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us.
Romans 8:38 I'm absolutely convinced that nothing - nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow,

Salvation is purely an expression of God's undeserved kindness!

No amount of works can earns someone salvation.

God's in his mercy extend this invaluable gift to anyone that excercise/show faith in Christ ransom sacrifice.

The Only way to show true faith in Jesus' sacrifice is through our works . "Faith without work is dead".
It's so because even the demons believe Jesus but they don't have work to show for it!


Heb. 5:9, : “He [Jesus] became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him.”

That verse shows that Salvation is conditional and exclusive !
Obedience to him 'is the work that demonstrate Genuine Christains Faith'

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.


Salvation is purely God's work from the start to the finish, the only work is Faith in the Son of God

Obedience demonstrate Genuine Faith/believe in someone.

Jesus said:
John 15:10
If you observe my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have observed the commandments of the Father and remain in his love

Genuine Faith will have work to go with it. (which is the obedience to his commandments)

Be mindful of how a word is used in the Bible, especially in the New Testament.

To the scripture in view, the first question you need to ask yourself is this:

Obedience to what ? Is the obedience to a set of rules or a particular instruction? When you read through the entire New Testament, you’d discover that obedience is used mostly for obedience for a particular instruction.

What is this instruction?

The instruction is to obey the gospel. In this context, anyone that obeys the gospel , obeys Christ. All you needed to do was a word study of obey/obedience.

“But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “ LORD, who has believed our report?””
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬


“And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭5:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬


“in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,”

Reading through all the above verses, you should come to a conclusion that obeying Christ is obeying the gospel.

Therefore, Hebrews 5:9 is not applicable to believers, but to the unsaved.
