Meet Benjamin a 6 years old Auto Mechanic, he's also going to school and a Primary 2 pupil.
Starting a vocation early is key to becoming very good at the job.
Considering the fact that Nigeria does not guarantee you job opportunity even after your University Degree, it's important to highlight this idea of vocational training for our children even while they are attending conventional schools.
Imagine how good Benjamin would be by the time he continues on this path till he becomes an adolescent, he would have become so competent that he could tear down a faulty engine and couple it back after fixing it just like the manufacturer made it.
I encourage parents and wards to introduce their children into vocations that would be of benefit to them in the future just in case they don't find an employment after school, they would be self employed.

Looking at his cloth, you go knw say he don try for the business. But truth be told, this is child abuse, but in a country where every form of right and rules is thrown away in other to survive, this is hard work. May God see him through to greatness.

If he was learning how to play piano or how to swim at that age, will you call it child abuse?

THE SAME BOY ATTENDS A PRIMARY SCHOOL. THESE PEOPLE WILL STILL SAY THERE IS NO PLAY TIME FOR HIM AT SCHOOL TOO. ONLY AUTOMECHANIC TRAINING 24/7.

If he was doing and internship in a bank, doing the work that an adult is supposed to do, that's child labour/abuse.

Piano is a brain development instrument, that one is an exception. At the age of 6, a child isn't supposed to be involved in physically demanding activity.

At his age in technical school, he will more or less be dealing with the theoretical aspect of it and moreover the work there will be spaced and controlled to avoid physical stress.

6 year is too early. I know how those ogas relate with kids of that age. If he is learning from his parent or relative it may be an exception. Parents can however enrol their children for apprenticeship from JS1 or 12 year old .
