Child abuse Too early 12 year is ok Under the Nigerian Labour Law, there are two categories of apprentices; first, is the children apprentice between the ages of 12-16 years. This category of children can only be apprenticed to a master by their parents, or in the case of an orphan, by his guardian. The law officer shall appoint a fit and proper person to act on his behalf as guardian. The second category of apprentices comprise of young persons of sixteen years and above. The category of apprentices may lawfully apprentice themselves out to a master. From the provisions of the Labour Act, the minimum age at which a person can enter into apprenticeship is 12 years. This requirement allows for the child to obtain some basic formal education like primary school before entering into a apprenticeship to acquire vocational skills. Looking at his cloth, you go knw say he don try for the business. But truth be told, this is child abuse, but in a country where every form of right and rules is thrown away in other to survive, this is hard work. May God see him through to greatness. 84 Likes 3 Shares |

Rich4god: Shatap your mouth. define child abuse fess. in a short while that boy would be skilled enough to fend for himself. Almost everyone I know who went into trading or a skilled job while I was seeking admission is now a big guy. I wish I started earlier 191 Likes 5 Shares |

CandyOps: 6 year is too early. I know how those ogas relate with kids of that age. If he is learning from his parent or relative it may be an exception. Parents can however enrol their children for apprenticeship from JS1 or 12 year old . 30 Likes |

Thankfully, he goes to school and looks well-fed, I'm guessing he's with his parents. It's okay to start early if it doesn't interfere with his everyday life and does not affect his health. God bless our hustles 47 Likes |

This child abuse no matter who is teaching him. Allow the boy enjoy his time, play, eat , sleep and get schooled. Forcing this one to learn this mechanical work now through hard labor is abuse. 18 Likes |

Child Labour, he should be out there playing in the sand or reading his books and not doing harmful job at such age wherein he inhales chemicals from engine, carbide from welded parts and hydraulic fumes. This is forced career path, don't be surprised his passion is to become a medical doctor or a Farmer and not that forced labour. This is not how Japan, China, Germany or USA raise great auto engineers. The man is wrong to say he will be an expert in future because there is no job in Nigeria. By the time he comes of age, majority of cars will be electric vehicles using computerized scammers and robots 30 Likes |

I think the boy is just too young for this job.. I wouldn't go as far as calling it a child abuse rather I'll call this child labour.. but at his age.. he should be playing eating and sleeping ... but who am I to judge?? I dont know the financial status of where he is coming from 10 Likes |

CandyOps: I no get your time... But if you get sense you go knw say when a child is involved in a physically demanding activity or work it's child abuse. That's why the UN is fully against child labour. Like someone said up there... 6 years is too young for a child to he involved in such activity. 10 Likes 1 Share |

capitalzero: How is that child abuse? If he was doing an internship in a bank, will you call it child abuse? If he was learning how to play piano or how to swim at that age, will you call it child abuse? 35 Likes 1 Share |

thebosstrevor1: If he was doing and internship in a bank, doing the work that an adult is supposed to do, that's child labour/abuse. Piano is a brain development instrument, that one is an exception. At the age of 6, a child isn't supposed to be involved in physically demanding activity. 15 Likes 1 Share |

CandyOps: Don't waste your time on those who least understand the REALITIES of life. That boy has been offered a rare privilege. I wish him the very best. THE SAME BOY ATTENDS A PRIMARY SCHOOL. THESE PEOPLE WILL STILL SAY THERE IS NO PLAY TIME FOR HIM AT SCHOOL TOO. ONLY AUTOMECHANIC TRAINING 24/7. 13 Likes 1 Share

Rich4god: I hope you know that many owners of businesses allow their young children to work in their businesses. What is the difference between learning how to play piano and learning how to fix things from young, they are both brain development. 5 Likes |

thebosstrevor1:Internship at bank for kids? How is that possible? Swimming and learning musical instruments along with other school works are part of early childhood education. It is not about career choice. It is advised that children should be exposed to multiple skills very early in life. Children with extreme talents that are discovered early in life can however be guided in that direction. Child prodigy. But any child at 12 years old or JS1 should be enrolled in an apprenticeship programme. However , a child can start to learn any trade at age through parents or relatives. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Pikin that will go places in the nearest future. For those people saying it's child abuse. I'm reading Mechanical engineering in one the the federal schools in the federation. And I know next to nothing about fixing a bicycle let alone a car.. I wish I was forced into this "slavery" I would have been happier. Although I'm not devoid of a hand work but I will exchange my knowledge of how to cut hair with being a mechanic any day any time. 8 Likes 1 Share |

capitalzero:I don't believe it's too young to be good at something.. So long as the kid is going to school, I see nothing wrong there. Imagine the level of skills this boy would have gotten by the time he's 12 (or 16). That's when others would start learning. 4 Likes |
