How Tinubu Ended Godfatherism In Lagos State by Bulleye(m): 1:46pm On Dec 27, 2020
The dangerous and insecure position Nigeria finds itself today is rooted in the unrealistic belief that only strong men can hold political offices in Nigeria. Rather than allow institutions to control and check individual political office holders, it is unfortunate that politicians are the ones manipulating all organs of state for their selfish interest.

The consequences can be summed up in Buhari. The so-called savior many Nigerians were anxiously waiting to make Nigeria great, safe and prosperous. Weather Buhari has been able to meet the expectations of Nigerians is written in the happenings in the country. Democracy is hijacked and devalued with Buhari's presidency. All this has been made possible because Buhari is a strong and powerful man that is assumed to have power over every institution that constitutes government.

And most state governors are also little Buharis in power : they are exercising ablosute power in their respective states. It is dictatorship with a veil of democracy.

However, Lagos State state is an exception to the rule. The APC in Lagos State has killed Godfatherism ; no individual can withstand the power of APC machinery in the state. This is the genesis of the hatred towards Tinubu.

Political offices are not hijacked by money bags in Lagos State because the party is firmly established and in control. A candidate for an elective office is sponsored by the party. This ensures loyalty to the party. This contrasts sharply with the process adopted in other states where political merchants are in charge.

These political contractors are the ones rising up against Tinubu and instigating people against him. They are far worse than Tinubu and have nothing to offer.

Tinubu, rather than been a godfather, has to the delight of the progressives killed and destroyed Godfatherism.

Those who killed our own Akintola but hid away their own Azikwe should not interfere in our political affairs. The social-political crisis you are highlighting were precipitated by your forebears who truncated democracy for the first time in Nigeria. We shall resolve all the crisis bedeviling our land with time. We do not want you to dictate who should be our political representatives. Leave that for us.

As usual, always blaming others for their misfortunes. The same thing happened in the recent #Endsars that enveloped the country. Igbos were being blamed for instigating Yorubas in wrecking havoc on their land. Hypocrites, you guys should bow your heads in shame. You allowed one man to dictate your political lives, as well as Your economic wellbeing for his selfish interest thus turning all your youths to potential Agberos.

I disagree with you on this. Your politicians are tin gods that can do no wrong. Your political history is rooted in ethnicity and expansionist agenda. You are all out condemning Tinubu while Kalu is being shielded. Most of the developments in Lagos were initiatives of Tinubu and his party. Tinubu has no history of persecuting Igbo, yet you guys are always on his neck. The fact is Tinubu has secured Lagos against money bags such that you guys cannot influence Lagos politics. You have no claim over the electoral victory of his party. You envy him and his political achievements.
You are fixated on taking over Yoruba cities which Tinubu is resisting. You are frustrated.

Wow. The future of Yoruba youths look bleak and not that of most Igbo youths who leave ala Igbo when they turn 12-13 never to look back or return?

You Igbos are such hateful clowns. As long as you can think or talk as if Yorubas are troubled then that somehow makes your effed-up region and pathetic lives/future of your people more bearable. You guys are grotesque Jokers.

This is the koko of the matter. Igbos are trying to buy political relevance and status in Lagos but Tinubu is always proactive in showing them that SW is Yorubaland and must always be controlled by Yorubas.

Fixated on taking over Yoruba cities? You must be dreaming. Igbos saw opportunities that your lazy people couldn't see because of their penchant for free money. We made good this opportunities and built an empire for ourselves yet all we get in return from the so called accomodators are hate, jealousy and envy.

Tinubu is the best so far when it comes to giving a sense of belonging to everyone in Lagos in terms of politics. Yet these people will not let him be. Now there is Igbo APC in Lagos, championing Igbo interest. They never see themselves as Lagosians, unlike the Ibibio, Ijaw, Bini and other southern peoples that are Lagosians like Egba, Ekiti, Oyo, and other sub-Yoruba groups that believe in one Lagos. Imagine having Ibadan APC, Abeokuta APC or Ijebu APC in Lagos as there is Indigbo APC. They are too sectional and have domineering attitudes.

Who created and are still creating the environment for all Lagosians to thrive? Yoruba, of course, as represented by Tinubu. If your claim is true, the east should be the most prosperous and developed part of Nigeria.

This is why some of us have used the "Yoruba ronu" cliche to death.

When have the detractors of Tinubu, i.e those seeking to bully him out of the Presidential race, ever based their sales pitch on selling their own candidate, promoting their ability and showing, with verifiable facts, they are better than others including BAT?

Obama once stated that those who have no verifiable record to run on, to back their political candidacy, will only focus on trying to rubbish and belittle their opponents.

Is this not true of Nigeria where Igbos talk daily of how Tinubu must not run yet they cannot independently focus on selling Obi, Umahi etal to Nigerians?
