I have someone facing the same issue now, he lost the number he used for nin registration, and now the sim has been recycled by the network provider someone else is using the sim now

What NIMC needs to do now is to open a temporary portal where people can enter their NIN to verify the name to be sure it is theirs. simple solution

Something like an official website to type in that NIN to see the details attached to it just to be sure

NIN is the foundational ID in Nigeria and its going/already to be a base for all other ID.. To access the service of any other ID, you will need NIN, take for example international passport.. If you go for your international passport, nin will be required cos the data of nin will just be lifted to do your passport and same for all other IDs and to change anything on your ID, you will av to visit nimc first for correction and only then can any other correction be done anywhere else.. Trust by next year or the next you won't even be able to leave the country without NIN as world Bank, EU, interpol are deeply invested in NIN..

It's going to be a gradual and fast thing cos very soon you won't even be able to enrol in a school, visit govt hospital for a start, access govt services without it

He said that: “The information is incorrect.”
Then he want ahead to divert from the simple question, and said that: “We have linked our data with BVN. People need to come to our office to register. If you have not registered with NIMC, go to our centres and register.”
Now, why would someone register for NIN again, if the main aim for the NIMC registration is the NIN Number?? Was he trying to say that the already-assigned BVN-Generated NIN was an error? Or that there was not supposed to be any BVN-Generated NIN in the first place?
If there is anything they are hiding from us, let them open it up.. If they need us to update the information on our supposed BVN-Generated Error-NIN, let them tell us.

As for me, I'm not going anywhere.
If there is no way to access the information on the NIN number online, and then regularise/update the information online, then they should keep whatever they have there as My NIN to themselves.

there will be issues and a whole lot of identity fraud after this.. identity mismatch etc..
the issue will affect whoever link another persons nin kos when he wanna do any thing else his nin doesn't match the database. he may be arrested or stuck kos his identity doesn't match.. same as reg fro drivers license, intl passport etc[b][/b]

So many Nigerians have NIN and they are unaware. The truth is that everyone that did their BVN when it was introduced in 2014 has NIN automatically assigned to them.
Just dial *346# with the same number you registered for BVN and retrieve your NIN. Don't go to NIMC centres to queue, Covid19 is real.

This is wrong. Nobody is automatically being assigned an NIN number.

The most plausible reason is that you have a recycled number and the former owner registered NIN with it.

Again, no authority have officially confirmed that they harmonised any data whether from BVN or voters card.
