By "Excellent customer care" I'm sure you mean for them to come grovelling and begging you to repay your loan angry
Not my fault, if you lack understanding. Simply put....... An excellent customer care service means, you relate with your clients politely, or diplomatically, while passing your message across. Not being rude or uncouth.
FYI, I run a money lending outfit, and my staffs are well trained. Thank you.

Truly, she and the company acted unprofessionally. They should have simply reported your BVN to central bank. And Central Bank will in turn blacklist your BVN from borrowing till you clear your debt.

If you are financially bouyant, please go to court and make them pay as long as this action wasn't in their terms and conditions of service.

The so called carbon and fairmoney should sit up too, they should up their game and be more strict, if not, they will liquidate very soon. All the commercial and microfinance banks that died prematurely, it was loan defaulters that caused their early death. Some people's mentality is that loan from banks is manna from heaven and part of the national cake

Exactly?

Dear Sokoloan, I will be in my best behaviour while posting this.

I applied for a loan a month back which I didn't repay in time. I got a call from an extremely rude official 5 days after I received the loan. She informed me that payment is due and I should do that immediately. I tried to be friendly but she wasn't. I asked if I could pay part but she arrogantly declined.
The next day I got a call from her again with insults this time. I told her she's not professional with her work and that made her worse. She threatened to disgrace me in the worst way ever (via SMS). My phone got stolen that night. A day after she sent the most devastating message ever to all my contacts. How she got access to them still surprises me. In her message, she said I'm a wanted criminal on the run with company funds. I got tons of messages on Facebook and missed calls and messages on my other line - my former employers, course mates, lecturers, neighbors, family, besties, other influential people. I was really mad! I had over 300 contacts for Christ sake. I called her immediately to send a convincing message to my contacts. She was adamant and continued with her insult, I fired back not minding her age. I threatened to take the case to court, but I was financially down at that moment. My sister called her immediately she got one of her text and they ended up insulting eachother. I called her some days after, she was a bit calm, and I asked if she would resend another SMS and make everything transparent to my contacts. She said once the payment is complete we'd discuss that. When the payment was deducted automatically from my account, I called the number, but the new user doesn't seem to know me. She requested for my login number I gave her but she said she can't access my account. Up till now. I think I've been too calm with them and I am taking it up now.

The worse part of it is I lost most of my contacts which means I may not be able to clarify myself. This is the worst thing ever to happen to someone.

I've mailed them concerning the issue and I'm yet to get feedback.

Pics below:

You should report them to Google so they can remove their scam app from Google Playstore.

First, their interest rate is too high.
Second, the duration is too short.

I don't have the links now, but these are clearly against Google terms. Send these to Google with evidence of everything that transpired between you and them, and they will shut them down forever.

CashLion and NairaPlus are even worse. These are predator apps that are running riot without control on Google Play.

Pls fight them back, and get them kicked out from Playstore. Then, their madness will be cured.

Too many bad reviews about soko loan.

What you people actually don't understand is, if a customer refuses to pay back a soko loan, the money will be deducted from the salary of the staff that disbursed the loan. That's why they are so mean and ruthless. Sometimes they will even threaten you with police grin. The will embarass you by texting all your contacts including your exs and enemies.

I'm of the opinion that a company that operates like that doesn't deserve to exist in the first place.

So you want them to ignore all the people owing 10K...do you have any idea how much that will be and the loss it will cause them?

The fun thing about this thread is ....Nigerians are their own worst enemies.

On this thread there are people who are willing and have stated point blank that they have taken loans, and have refused to pay back these loans.

And after we are asking how we ended up with Buhari. Like Buhari, like Nigerians.

If all these payday loan companies go under because people are refusing to pay up their loans, then who is going to help people in need? Maybe the good old loan shark and his gang of thugs. (Yes, pay your debts, or we will come to your house and beat you up).

Another one is Tecno Easybuy.

Sending random messages to people on Whatsapp because it's not paid.

To think that it is a CBN approved programme worries me. The wordings of this documentation is even appalling for a secondary school leaver.

I don't know the person in question or anyone at all by that first name or surname. And even if I did, I don't know how I became a guarantor without my notice.

Imagine messaging random people to threaten them with lawsuits and defamation.

Let's take a stand guys. This cannot be allowed to stand. Loans have been around since time immemorial but this one is taking a really careless dimension.

The part of threatening to put his contacts details on media is rubbish. Which media? They're stupid if they try that. Is it his contacts that bought phone on credit?

Some of these online loan apps are scammers. I once had an issue with halocredit. The app on playstore said the loans were given for a term of 90 to 180days for an interest of 24 to 36 % which i thought was cool.

I downloaded and applied for 40k and i was offered 27k which i accepted to my surprise i was credited 16k and told the 11k was for fees and interest. And i was to pay back 27k in 8days. Thats more than 70% for a duration of 8days.

Immediately i called and sent a mail to their customer care and told them this wasnt acceptable and this wasnt what was written on the front page of the app. Their response was there was another terms and conditions written within the app. So i told them they should take their money back cos terms and conditions are should be clear , easy to access and bold. You cant have 2 terms and conditions for one app.

However they didnt take the money back after several calls and mails. 8days later they started calling me to pay 27k. And i told them i wont but will only refund the 16k given to me. They started threatening. So i reported the case witg all evidence to CBN and efcc and the reply i got was they dont licence any online loan app. And i should deactivate all my cards. And this i have done. They sent msgs to my contacts and a forwarded a disclaimer to all my contacts that they are scammers.

Not every nigerian is a debtor but some of these loan apps are just scammers and thieves .

Report them to Google. That 90-180 days payback duration is Google Playstore standard. Whoever is doing anything less than that is a fraud and scam company and shouldn't be allowed to continue on Playstore. I wonder how they deceived Google to allow them in

So why did they go for his contacts.

Sokoloan , like most payday loan companies, loan out sums that are too small for the big banks to touch, since you can't get collateral for such loans. As a result, they rely on the contacts on your phone as their 'guarantors' of the loan (some apps like Quickcheck also ask for the phone no of your office before you qualify for a loan)

If they did not do that, and people refused to pay, they would be out of business in months. Bad news for most of us who can't rely on the banks to give us payday loans (some banks like Access and Polaris do give something called Salary advance)

Plus, they warn you ahead of approving the loan. Its in the T and C.

1.I don't think such a guarantee exists. If it did, many of these payday loan companies like Sokoloan would be out of business....as they rely partly on prompt repayment of loans to pay other people loans, and to pay investors.

2.Plus, they do warn you that if you don't have the means to payback the loan., DON'T TAKE IT. (I have delayed taking loans from such apps because I would have had no means to pay back...until I was sure I had the means to pay).

Most of all these loan vendors are very exploitative. Imagine charging borrowers upto 28% interest rate per month.

I love my Access Bank, they give Loan via their apps to account holders at 4.5% per month.

Even during the lockdown they were steadily giving loans unlike some banks that suspended theirs and only gave Loans to salary earners, especially gov workers.

During this Christmas Access Bank has given me over 200k Loan.

Even you when default, they give 7 days Grace before the reminder sms start coming and it is never threatening.

God bless Access Bank.

1.Before you qualify for an access bank loan., you must have an access bank account. That's why they take a relaxed attitude towards people taking loans via their app. Las las, they can just debit your account with them.

2.Payday loan companies like Sokoloan don't have that luxury.

He should have not called you wicked..but why did you take a loan from SOKOLOAN if you had no means of paying back since you were broke at the time?

The problem is, if we allow these companies to go under because we don't pay loans on time, what alternatives do we have? Banks won't give such loans, and the few who give have conditons

They said there loans are 24 to 36% with a term of 30 to 180days thats what is written on their page on play store but they otherwise when you finally download the app. What do you call that .... fair play right? Its outright fraud... issues of loan should be transparent. 16k to pay 27k in 8days ... does that reflect those terms above. That amounts to more than 70% interest .

You guys taking loans and boasting you will not pay are just doing yourselves in the long run. We now have what we call credit beaureus and all loans you take from any bank and fintech is logged there. If you have a non performing loan it goes on your record permanently.

I was curious and saw a credit report function on my Internet banking. I decided to generate a credit report even though it cost 500 naira. Behold a detailed 7 page report was sent to my email of every loan I have ever taken from any bank and fintech. It even has space for any mortgage or even any dud cheque you might have presented in the past.

You cannot access any loan, or mortgage in the future if your record is bad. If you think its a joke just try borrowing even 1k from another loan app and see what they will tell you. With your BVN a credit report can be generated on you. Soon embassies, landlords, business partners or even employers will ask you to submit a credit report before they have dealings with you to know what kind of person you are.

Because of 5k you now jeopardize your future access to finances? That's stupidity in my opinion.
