Please I sent you a mail.
Teejhay5:
I got my request for medicals and a new admission letter( because I deferred) on October 5th
My agent submitted a new admission letter on the same day I got the request via email
Did my medicals on October 30th, showed passed medicals on November 4th
After a while of not hearing from IRCC, I asked around and someone told me I was meant to submit the admission letter via web form
After submitting via web form (October 13th ) my profile updated to all necessary document received
December 17th I got my first corresponding letter but to date, I have not gotten any passport request
What can I do or has anyone experienced this before? Thanks

Background check (BGC) is a procedure to verify the criminal and/or security background of visa applicants to ensure they’re admissible to Canada. This involves criminality check, security screening and information sharing and most times involves the support of Canadian Security Intelligence service. At this stage IRCC is reviewing to be sure the applicant wont pose a security threat to Canada. This is the stage where the IRCC does country by country information sharing with other countries like the USA, UK etc to see if they have any information on the applicant that poses security threat or risk. Sometimes they can check social media platforms Linkedln, facebook etc for further checks.

While Eligibility review is confirming if the applicant is a genuiene student and truly intends to study in Canada. This is a critical part of the application At this stage, a visa officer of the IRCC reviews the applicant statement of purpose or letter of explantion, letter of acceptance from the designated learning institution, career progression, home ties, proof of funds etc. Sometimes based on their discretion, they can contact the current employer for confirmation of his/her employment status. This is where they make thier decision whether to grant an approval.

Oh thanks alot

It is better you apply for another passport before submitting your application to avoid issues when they request for your passport and want to affix the Visa stamp.

Hi,

You are welcome

-What did you study?

- Do you have a 2.1/2.2 or 3rd Class?

- Is your NYSC Job (PPA) related to what you studied in school?

If you have someone in Canada, use his/her number. If you don't have, I think you can use your Naija number (not too sure though)

quote author=Akannitommy post=97513241]Hi team,

I arrived in Montreal 23 hours ago - on Turkish Airlines after stopping 8 hours in Istanbul - but spent the first 6 hours at the YUL - Montreal airport. A mix of Covid-19 protocol plus the crowd of students coming in this period made the queue too long. I can't do much reporting now as I am still jet lagged but I just wanted say thanks to everyone who has been and continue to be a part of this journey. In a few days when am well rested, I will return with fuller gist of the lessons from this trip.

NB: my phone and laptop batteries dried up while drafting this message initially some 15 hours ago. I have now been able to sort the recharging/plugging problem with the kind help of Frater.... So I add my voice to the advice that those coming next should quickly find a way to plug and charge their devices before or upon arrival. [/quote]

Long post alert!

This process was for my 15 year old daughter to go for a High school program in Nova Scotia, process is very similar to a college application so I relied on information received from nairaland.

Secondary school transcript - JS 3 to SS 2
Applicant's recent passport data page and stamped pages of old passport
Sister's birth certificate
Parents passport data page
SOP 4 pages
Custodian Letter (she's a minor)
Letter of admission

POF
School fees and accommodation receipt - CAD 19,050
Bank statement of me and my husband's coy account - USD 17,000 & USD 10,000 respectively (printed statement before paying fees from one of the accounts), mine was 5.5 months and husband's was 6months old
Bank reference letters for the 2 coys ( my own stated I was the sole signatory but my husband's own didn't state that)
Board resolution letters from both companies, confirming financial support for our daughter
Business registration documents for both companies incl co2&co7, TCC, MEMAT, one invoice & PO
Notarized sponsorship letter by us as parents confirming our financial support to our daughter
Survey plan for 2 different lands, one in our joint name the other in my name

Timeline
Upfront medical - 15th May 2020
Application submitted - 24th May 2020
Medical passed - 17th June 2020
(No notification for medical passed, checked sometime in July and saw it while eligibility and background check was in progress)
Webform sent - 30th July 2020
(I stated that application process was 8weeks as at time of submission and intended high school was going to start on the 8th of September and needed information on status)
CIC response - 4th August 2020
(Generic response received stating delay is being caused by covid-19 and we should hang on)
1st stage visa approval - 6th of August 2020
(Approval in principle)
Biometrics enrollment - 24/08/2020 ( booked appointment online 20/08/2020, account updated within an hour of completing it)

BVL - 25th Nov 2020
Sent web form about 2-3 weeks prior to receiving BVL asking for update as application has gone beyond standard processing time, got no acknowledgement or response initially, wasn't surprised as the province had not started allowing Int'l students at secondary school level.

I later received a response from my 1st webform to Guanzu, it didn't say anything just FYA of a forwarded mail to TR enquiries. I sent another set of webforms and mails saying that I've received BVL but no final decision yet, sent this once a week for 2 weeks.

23rd Dec 2020 - GC key shows application was approved 23/12/20, no email received. VFS tracking says processed passport has been dispatched from visa office to VAC

VFS tracking says decision envelope has been couriered from VAC, on vide courier partner
30th Dec 2020 - passport delivered by DHL at about 1pm

I know VFS Lagos has gotten a lot of bad reviews but I swear I didn't have to call to follow up or send emails, I had even put my mind to receiving it in February but lo and behold, it's here!

Special thank you to everyone that takes time out to respond to enquiries, God bless you and may everyone looking for a favourable response, get it shortly.

Happy new year, folks!

Congratulations!!! See as Lagos VFS do well. I think a lot of people got their PPR at the same time and most sent their PP over there, probably too much PP to process (still not an excuse for them anyway). Once again congratulations to your daughter!
