Mke over thinking no put man for depression o....my school resume Jan 18th after I deferred from fall to winter got Nse request dec 11th and responded dec 13th to it... pls shud I defer again or keep waiting cause no response yet. Mind you, I hvnt done medical yet
Defer your admission 2 days to the deadline. I don't think you will get approval and stamped passport between now and 18th because you haven't been asked to go for medical yet.
Ask your school for the deadline

If he/she hides the master’s, they’ll have to hide it for life because IRCC no dey forget. It’s good to take note of that.
@AbionaT please, like @chocs said, DO NOT HIDE YOUR MSc. You can either go for express entry (since you have masters and working experience). But if you must go the study route, then you can go for PhD or another masters.
As for you having an admission for a diploma course, hope it is advanced diploma (in science, which is different from your current field)? If yes, then you need to explain to the go why you want to change career(mind you, you have every right to change career but you MUST convince the vo why you intend doing that at this stage of your life).
N.B: I want to re-emphasis this: DO NOT HIDE YOUR MASTERS DEGREE, PLEASE!!! It is better you let them know then explain you want to change career, maybe due to wanting a new challenge or something that holds water.

how can one apply for it?

I really don't know but you can find it out. What I heard some people do is look for a friend or someone who can offer them the job. Then when they get into Canada, they look for another job and start hustling.

The way Nigerians think up these things baffle me. But it makes sense. I had a close family member tell me she has already gotten work visa via this program.

Somehow, this is a very smart move considering that many Nigerians will find it difficult moving into Canada via express entry. Who is that person that has masters degree, 3 years work experience and below 30 years in Naija. Or is it student visa? How many people have the funds for it?

Anyhow sha, do further research. It's possible.

Quick question.
1. Please how can one lease a location for quarantine in Canada from Lagos?
2. Is quarantine done at first point of entry in to Canada or final destination in Canada?

At first, I received only the email with ticket/psw.
But after calling FCMB and complaining to MyBank Statement firm.I received A PDF document which I added to my application.
Jojo257:
Did anyone who submitted the mybankstatement use an fcmb account? If yes then please we’re you given a one page ticket or just an email containing the ticket number and password.

You can go to any branch they will print out the ticket ID and password that's what you will upload with your application then they will send the bank statement directly to the embassy

Pls how do I go about the express entry?

quote author=iampaulsmith post=97594709]If you have a masters degree and you are currently working why not consider Express Entry then. With your NYSC one year working experience I think you just need 2 years working experience and good iELTS score to meet the cut-off. Just my advice. I’m sure the gurus here will give their advice on your intended program that does not match your previous study but I don’t think it looks good.

Hello AbionaT,

You can consider the express entry which makes you become a permanent resident of Canada (you’ll need a master’s, 3 years of work experience and good IELTS score) For more information, you can google express entry Canada and read about it. They award points based on the factors I listed plus other factors, if you meet the cut off, you’d be invited to apply. There is a tool that helps you calculate your score. You can input expected scores for example if you haven’t taken Ielts and see what your final score would be. That way you can know what and what to work on to qualify. You can google “CRS score tool Canada” to see this tool.

In the case that one out of you or your spouse do not have a master’s or the required work experience you can go as a student. It could be one of you who has a master’s, it mustn’t be the both, anyone that meets the criteria can apply and take the others as dependents.

If you decide to go as students, this is the right thread, I’d encourage you to read the thread from page one to more info.

Best wishes

Chocs I appreciate you
Can I go as a student first and then apply for the express entry when I get there?
How long do the express entry take?
My husband has Masters too, but he is a business man.

For Canada study visa, you have to show proof of your first year tuition and 10,000CAD for your living expenses. Unfortunately, 1 million Naira which is equivalent to 3,150CAD is insufficient to embark on this project. Your best decision is to look out for other cheaper European countries.

It will end in praise.

Happy New Year
I need advice on what to do.

I have 2/2 in my undergraduate and obtained MSc. I want to do another MSc programme in Canada, in education field.

My concern is the undergraduate CGPA, I learnt you need 2.1 to gain direct admission into master's programmes in Canada.

I was thinking if I can do post graduate certificate in Canada, will it not be a problem when am applying for visa, as I already have MSc. Again, the reason I have chosen the PGC is because of my CGPA, I can't gain direct admission with my BSc.

I sent email to the leasing companies and they sent me their offerings. I selected the better one for my purpose although slightly more expensive. For my quarantine and to save cost, I prefer a place I can cook my own food so I went with the option that offered private kitchen. I paid $1,015CAD for one month and signed a month lease. No compulsion to renew as I don't plan to. They requested for my details and a copy of my ID. I sent them a copy of passport data page. I filled and signed the form online on 23rd Dec and they countersigned also electronically. I had 24 hours to pay but was unable to do that from Nigeria. I informed them my brother based in the US will pay and he did. I sent them proof and they sent me access code to collect my key on arrival since I was arriving after work hours. I was also told I could pay on arrival (btw 11am and 3pm only) at the reception if I had no way to pay ahead.

Yes, you do your quaratine at first point of entry. One small caution, (IF POSSIBLE) I advise you come in through the same province where your DLI is located. After quarantine, you can relocate to a different place to safe costs etc. I have heard stories of students who got turned back at the POE because they entered through a different (and perhaps, unrealistic) POE compared to where there DLI is located. This was during conversation with a friend who also cam here as a student 5 years ago, so I can't verify how true but I have no reason to doubt him.

I don't have time now to go through SOP, but you can draft one first then ask people to go through it and see where you need to add or remove something.
For your intended program, do you intend to start your own company/business relating to the course after graduation? If yes, it will be a great reason for the change is career.

This is the most interesting, most exhaustive and (at least to for me) most useful landing gist I have read in this forum.

Thank you so much, Akanni, for making out the time to narrate your experience. You have given us so much important information in one post alone. I've read your post three times already and as well
taken screenshots of it. The luggage tips and other airport wahala you've so clearly detailed for us here are really going to come in handy when I eventually start my own journey.

Aah, IRCC! I never believed I could be waiting for BVL and final decision up till this time. Damn! It's 2021 and I'm still refreshing my GCKey account, searching for new update. This is perplexing, very.

No choice now than to order GCMS notes.

As a PhD student who has a 4.17 in undergrad (2015), a 5.0 in MA (Dec. 2019), several published academic papers and a Dean's fellowship (full funding: tuition waiver, living expenses of 22k CAD and option of Graduate Assistantship for extra cash not counted towards my funding package), I had thought that getting a study permit would be easy and fast. But, yeah, it's 6 months and 15 days now, and old boy is still anxiously refreshing his GCkey account. How so sad!

At this point, I'm even beginning to get mad at IRCC. But then, it's their country, and as they'll quickly remind you, study permit/visa is a privilege not a right. Still, it's all so sad!

My dear brother,
At this point you will know that everything is a privilege and not a right. But I feel you stand a strong chance. In my own case, I applied may 7 when my host has applied for work permit for me. Something like a postdoc you say. I am even fully funded. I was practically begging IRCC. The key is this: Apply for your GCMS. @Chocs told me to send mails and webforms based on what I saw from the GCMS notes. I got my GCMS notes twice. It was a serious case but it ended in praise. So apply for it and pray
