Deadliest snake in the world is not black mamba. You have to consider the saw-scaled viper and king cobra before vipers.
Even the taipan is deadlier (only that they are endemic to australia and some parts of asia). Maybe you meant to say the deadliest snake in Southern Africa because black mambas are not found in West Africa
.

I believe you people are not getting the OP's point. Deadliest is different from most venomous. You can have a lot of venom and not be as deadly as the other with less venom. For example the Nigerian army has got enough firepower and strategy than bokoharam. But which is more deadly between both the army and bokoharam to the citizen? Bokoharam is despite not literally as powerful as the military. You dig. Puff adder, Gabon viper are all venomous than the black mamba. But the black mamba is more deadly because it's easy to outwit other snakes than the mamba. If you watch NAT Geo wild there's this guy that catches snakes for a living in South Africa. When it's other snakes he's ready and panics less. But once a call came for a black mamba he was fucking tensed and extremely careful. And that black mamba he caught that day was the biggest I have ever seen and that's still not it's full potential size.
Dont joke with black mambas biko o.

Honestly speaking,

I grab your point but to be candid, some snakes are pretty much beautiful and can be tamed.

I'm working on another thread which is about something you would like about snakes.

Guy, not Nigeria's snakes ooo.

Better snakes dey exist

ODEWALE ADESOYE

ehn ehn another thread on snake, @Lalasticlala will give you a community on nairaland to govern soon.
why not elephant, lion, chameleon, cheetah etc. don't bring another snake thread o.
wait you said something about taming snake for a pet!? don't even go there, na me go kill ham. for no amount would I accept it for a pet, for no amount would I work at snake conservation.
well snake conservation without physical and visual contact might collect the huge cash. I kill snake when I come in contact with them, no mercy, I make sure I crush it to satisfaction after which I keep my distance.
even whatever I use to kill the snake don't stay near I dey fling the thing like say na him be the snake, I won't leave the stick near by, it has become outcast.
snake bawo?

Black mamba is not the deadliest snake in the world, the undisputable is the inland taipan in Australia, drop for drop has the most toxic venom of any snake in the world.

It's the most venomous but black mamba is the deadliest due to its aggressive reputation and quickness. It's also not as shy as the inland taipan.
Guy, stop confusing people with semantics. If you are using aggression and speed as your definition of deadly, then the black mamba does not come close to the King Cobra and the Saw Scaled Viper or even the Eastern Brown Snake in terms of aggression so your definition is wrong.
The definition of deadly is how many people or mice an ounce of its poison can kill. Whether you say deadly or venomous, you are referring to the same thing. One is a cause, (venom) the other is an effect (dead) they are often used interchangeably.
For your information the black mamba is ranked 5th on the list of deadliest snakes behind the following
1. Inland Taipan
2. Eastern Brown Snake
3. Coastal Taipan
4. King Cobra.

Being deadly is not just about potency of a snake's venom. The definition of deadly can be how much people a snake has killed, how aggressive/temperamental is the snake and how often does it bite people.

The inland taipan whilst the most venomous of all land snakes is quite relaxed compared to the black mamba. You can stay within 5 feet of a taipan and it might not bite you whereas with a mamba you can't because it will strike you (sometimes multiple times) without giving any warnings. It also has much more reach when striking than the taipan due to it's longer length.

Here's a video of the south African snake expert Dingo Dinkelmann Handling and talking about both black mamba and taipan. You can deduct which snake is much more deadlier from it yourself.

Your logic does not count in this scenario. The snake catcher panicked because of the speed and aggression of the black mamba, but he will also shit his pants if he confronts a King Cobra, because that one can also spray venom.
The real reason why any snake catcher is scared is because they know one bite could spell their doom. the inland Taipan is not aggressive, because it lives in isolated places where it has little contact with humans. Do you know how many people get beaten by snakes on a daily basis? So why are some called deadly? It's because they are likely to lead to fatality. What causes fatality? The venom. Do you see why you can't separate deadly from venomous?

I said they come in variouse sizes and forms..

Let badger take on a python or anaconda snake.
.

That one consine* you.

Are you a learner?
Honey badger can take on a python.

And again, those ones can be taken down or preyed upon by bigger animals like lion, tiger, crocs etc, since venom is out of the discussion.

In other words, they are not at the top of a food chain in a forest consisting of all animals like your first reply portrayed.

You get the point now?

King cobra does not spit venoms. Besides I believe you have seen a video of the snake catcher trying his best to place his hand on the head of a king cobra in the wild which he did. He'll never try that with a mamba.

I may not like snakes but I know a lot about them.

No snake will attack you within 5 feet unless it feels cornered or threatened, snakes generally tend to avoid people. This includes the so called black mamba. I don't need a video of a snake expert to help me deduce simple diction. If you are saying the definition of deadly also means how often a snake bites people, then the black mamba fails woefully in that category. The Eastern brown snake and saw scaled viper, bites (and kills) more people than the black mamba. If we go back to the definition of deadly as to how quickly its venom can kill people, the black mamba comes a distant 5th.

You are right. I confused a spitting cobra with King Cobra. But I still maintain that a King Cobra is way more aggressive and deadlier than a black mamba.

A king Cobra's venom is enough to kill an elephant. Its venom will kill a man in 15 minutes. A black Mamba's will kill a man in 30 minutes. These are facts.

Ha ha... If I was asked that same question I will choose none bro. Both can and will certainly kill me if locked together in a cage. It doesn't matter if ones venom is more potent or fast acting than the other one.

I fear snakes but I also love and respect them.
