Avoid the ‘religious’ ideology of new year, new resolution. January 1 is a number on the calendar. As a matter of fact, some parts of the world are not celebrating a new year as you have celebrated. There are eleven cultures that do not celebrate new year in January 1st according to SBSNews. Therefore, January 1 is a mere number that has been agreed at a point to be the beginning of a new calendar year for there to be an order in the society.
The idea of having a resolution is not bad, but what you should avoid is making resolutions because it is 1st of January. This is my advice;
See 1st of January like any other days on your calendar. The question is, must you have a new resolution because it is 1st of January? You need to see January like February, July, or any other month of the year.

When Do I Make Resolutions?
You can make resolutions anytime, and make them happen. You can decide to have a new resolution on your birthday, your wedding anniversary, your children’s birthday, depending on the nature of your resolution.
The idea of new year new resolution is becoming a culture that does not necessarily need to be respected but performed because it is 1st of January. I am not in anyway telling you not to have resolutions as much as you want, but release yourself from the ‘bondage’ that it must always be on the 1st of January.

You might have promised yourself to give more to the orphanage homes or the gospel, or it could be that you want to lose ten pounds of your weight this year.
How many pounds have you scheduled for each month out of the 12 months?, if you promised yourself to lose ten pounds. How often do you want to give? if you want to give to orphanage homes or gospel.
