I posted a thread earlier today. I took my time to go through all the comments and I want to make some clarifications. I love teaching children and even as a computer scientist, children are part of my 'calling'.

First I think we should leave out the 'Nigerian mentality' here. Here is why:

I noticed people criticising teaching with phones and Youtube. I teach in an 'elite' school and we are trained to teach with the different methods of learning.

Do you know as a teacher you can relieve yourself from much talk with just a video? Not everyone one learns by just writing on the board. I know most of us were not brought up with the internet, but from my experience, the internet has aided children of this century in learning faster.

Also some people were criticising the fact that I allow the children near me. Remember that I am teaching primary school children, experience has taught me that the closer you are to them, the more eager they are to learn from you and the more comfortable to learn they will be.

Yes I know we will get triggered when I said that a little girl sat on my laps. I know my boundaries and I don't allow such. That acts was just a random act and it has not repeated since then. But what if I told you that I hug my children, both male and female. I give them high fives, thumbs up. I guess most of you will beat your daughter if she comes back with a gift from me for coming tops of any challenge I give?

By the way I am a professional, so for those who even brought up the idea, the thought of erection and stuffs doesn't even cross my head.

Lastly, I also noticed people getting triggered too for calling the girls little ladies and I laughed. I guess you have not seen me calling the girls little Princess and princes.

Do you know that they are even happy when you talk them into seeing themselves as wonderful boys and girls.

On a lighter note, I am not a pedophile, and trust me, you will feel comfortable with your daughters around me ; But then lets not be keyboard warriors.

I am an adult and know boundaries but let's leave the Nigerian mentality one side. I can't and will never do anything wrong with the students especially the female one's.

I guess some people will be triggered when I tell them that a parent gave me a hundred thousand when their daughter came up among the best five in the class. What did I do? Simple. I sweet talked her. Told her how beautiful and intelligent she is and how she will be dad and mom's angel if she improves in her performance.

Children needs to be in their comfort positions to be able to learn. I hope I am clear enough.

Don't put yourself in trouble. Careful what you put offline. Society will make just judgement. While it maybe comical to you now if it comes back hunting you, you'll understand the importance of liberty

I just finished reading these 'damage control' explanations from you. My advice to you remains unchanged: Learn to stick within the limits of acceptable behavior when dealing with school children. Those children are still minors, impressionable, but at the same time wiser than you may think. Draw boundaries and avoid playing too much with the little girls.

If someone else molests that girl, especially if it's a family member like in most cases, they could turn it on you and make the little girl claim it was you under duress. Why would a pupil sit on a male teacher's lap? You should watch it.
