I Turned Down Opportunity To Move To Canada — Nigerian Doctor (Photos) by Brika: 1:51pm On Jan 05, 2021 |
A Nigerian doctor, Fatima has revealed that she turned down an opportunity to move to Canada because she wants to contribute to the growth and development of her country, Igbere TV reports. "About a month ago, I got an opportunity to move and work in Canada. But honestly leaving this country is not an option for me. A lot of my colleagues have left but the rest of us will stay back. We’ll make our country work. We were born here, we’ll live here, we die here." she wrote. https://twitter.com/drfatima84/status/1345801602570063874?s=19 "I desire to stay back because I believe we will be greater here. It's just a matter of time." she added. https://twitter.com/drfatima84/status/1345848156404252672?s=20 While some Nigerians commended her patriotism, others said that she can afford to take such decisions because she is from a rich home. "Clearly you are from a rich home. "We die here" but na one soft estate you dey o with private security, good house, nice car. If you grew up in poverty or in a slum you would be tweeting from Canada." one commented under her tweet. https://twitter.com/lion__heart01/status/1345804111057473536?s=19 64 Likes 8 Shares

Northern muslims hardly migrate to a foreign country to stay permanently.. it's very hard to see that happening because they know In Nigeria, the quota system will favor them as compared to western countries... One thing I am sure is that she is from a wealthy family, so there is no need leaving the country to start again in a foreign land 690 Likes 41 Shares |

Bottom line is to stay in any country that favours you. Nigeria isn't for everyone and definitely Canada isn't for everyone. I still have several clients who are doctors on my list, waiting to relocate to EU and Canada. Normally, if you're from a wealthy home, there's no reason for you to move abroad cos it's competitive, writing MCCQE and other licencing exams for different professions isn't easy for every professional, so I think it pays her to stay here. Also she's a woman, which means the financial burden of the family isn't on her. By the way, most women who move to Canada do complain about the loneliness. It's all work, work, work. No Naija men to do shakara for. 295 Likes 21 Shares |

Arrrrrrrh The first guy above on her tweet have said all. And she couldn't give me a better reply than those feeble words she wrote. The guy above me have said a fact, his first paragraph have said it all. Now majority of this Rich arewa guys can't stay oversee completely. They can go out and school there but to stay there, thier parents believe they might throw thier religion or become less religious since they are mixing with other people. Nobody to draw their attention back. I remember one of my lecturer in school, this man studied in Malaysia and still came back to our school, presently now he's our assistant HOD. If I get the opportunity to leave Nigeria and school there, I won't come back in sooner time. I will make sure I have earn alot before coming to Nigeria to invest. Leaving there doesn't mean I have forsaken oversee no, I will still be in touch with them. I can't invest in an uncertain state alone unless it's not GOD WILL that's the only way I won't leave Nigeria. 37 Likes 3 Shares |

That's how somebody will get motivation from the facts that Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg are school drop outs but they won't consider the school they dropped out from and why they did what they did. She turned it down because she came from a well to do family. 90 Likes 1 Share |

I was actually thinking of creating a thread on this. What exactly do people mean by "stay back or return back to contribute to the country"? It's easy for this lady as she's a doctor.. she feels content and comfortable even though her wages and living conditions are quite substandard compared to her counterparts in other countries... she's a typical Nigerian who has the thought process of 'as long as I'm comfortable, everyone else can go to hell' ... ..what about millions of Nigerian youths who studied other courses in uni and haven't been able to get a job? Young people wasting away with no hope for the future.. They should all start businesses right? What businesses if I may ask? Hair dressing, poultry, small chops and farming? The government has no plans for the future of its youths. Those who believe that it is the citizen's job to fix Nigeria, please what is our government there for? what is their responsibility? 69 Likes 10 Shares |

After realizing she’s Muslim I don’t see the need to add to the post Take an average northerner and southerner to a foreign land without priviledges from the quota system and see who survives 89 Likes 4 Shares |

Well to each his own. she's obviously from a wealthy family so what's the need to permanently migrate overseas, even those based abroad would still come back from time to time. 7 Likes 1 Share |

leave her, she will still come to regret her decision. When Nigeria implodes it will consume even the rich. Even as we are, the well off are suffering despite their money. Not all suffering is financial. The stress of this country will kill you before your time even if you have money. 11 Likes |
