If only NSE can be a two-way market. It will really help our market in terms of volume and activity. As it is, money is only made when prices are going up which shouldn't be. I hope they can deepen the market very very soon as its long overdue.

Shorting would damage the market

We really need persons like you around to remind us other side of the market, and to also balance our hungry and desire for profit. In addition, nothing is impossible in Nigeria Equity Market. I am patiently waiting for that time in 2021 when I can confidently go sell my property to invest in equity market.
Way to go! smiley

Don’t dull Sir
There is short selling (not marginal landing - I asked to ensure it was different) on the NSE but am not too sure how to activate it yet
Last year January I called and sent several emails about it until I finally got a response call from the NSE and was told it was available
If memory serves it was one of the top 2 trading houses that have this option available
I emailed the house and they confirmed it but given how volatile naija stuff is I didn’t follow through. Also my knowledge of short selling wasn’t that strong so I let sleeping dogs...

http://www.nse.com.ng/products/equities/short-selling

It’s the top investment houses that do it
I asked Morgan and meristem at the time and all they have is marginal lending
Funny enough many of the houses don’t even know it exist

GTB - 8 trading days
7 days down. 1 day up (Take note)
undecided

@pa emmanuelewumi ... Thanks though for the other time... we have been able to start very small... and beginning to grow significantly having a bigger picture in mind.... I found out the few organisations I spoke (with assurance and high hopes) with later got to disappoint us greatly (although we are still pressing)... and this could have even put us more in heavy debt....But with no debt we had to find out way in meeting individuals and currently on a vision of a unique digital solution to dispatch services with a case study of lagos (a mid term plan)

To the house... I currently run a dispatch service within lagos and Home relocation service across the country (Nigeria). We also carrying voluminous goods (light weight) if you so require. You can TRUST us with your ITEM. The name of our organisation is MECAP MOVERS. I could provide you with any info you might need.

Kindly contact me if you will need our assistance soon or later. We will also appreciate your referral as we are focus to delivering an excellent service to you.

Thank you

Cheers...

Hi guys, please am new on NSE and I really wants to know how things works. although I have registered on Chaka so that I can also trade on international stocks. Nevertheless, I have some questions that has been boarding me.

1. Can I buy and sale stock in one day (arbitrage). for example Jaiz Bank was selling at 0.40 and forty minutes later, its selling at 0.69. Can I buy and sell within that period of time??

2. If a stock is selling below the amount I bought it, can I leave the stock to appreciate over time. Or is it possible the company would liquidate with the money. I really want to do this thing but I just need some knowledge.

Lol... i wanted to comment on the boc gas days ago but decided to hold back cos it wlll not benefit my pple here much due to the highly illiquid nature of stock grin the stock may keep rising if 100k daily unit met.

assuming they wanted to sell this company today based on the current mkt value, the buyer will pay nothing and still collect some cash on it.

this post was made November when Bocgas was selling 5 plus, the stock sold for 11.50 today

Note: the numbers doesn't support the cp anymore. if u have d stock do d needful and move on cheesy

No info yet from NEM's quarter too?

The Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, announced that it will restrain fintech startup, Chaka Technologies Limited, and its promoters from advertising or offering for sale shares, stock, or other securities of companies or other entities

Yes you can buy and sell stock same day within trading hours( 10:30 -2:30 pm)

You can hold a stock for as long as possible, NSE will notify you if the company will be delisted.

- Basic knowledge of how the market works, then you keep on building on it.
- Open account with a stock broking firm and fund it.

* Most of your questions has already been answered on this thread.
* All you needed to do is to be reading.
* While doing that, you may proceed to opening account with a broker and fund it.
* You can ask questions if not clear about some things.
* Don't just buy any stock, you also first to get opinions on same. Some stocks are no longer active on the exchange but are still listed, so don't make mistake in that area.

That's it for now......
.... Thanks for ur respond....

* How do i sell and make profit?
* How do I withdraw?
* Which broker is advisable to fund?
* how much is advisable to start with?
* how risky it's?
