I need an inverter setup that can power a laptop (70W), a 40-inch led TV (85W), A standing fan (70W (optional)), 2 bulbs and phones.

I would need the setup to be able to power the important gadgets above (approx. 160W) for 5 hours+ without sunlight.

No 100amp battery will give u 10hrs at 50% DOD. SEE ENH:
New Battery of 100amp contains roughly:
12v × 100amp = 1200w

Your load is 160w

1200÷160= 7.5hours at 100% DOD i.e till d battery dies.

At 50% DOD we have 3.75hours

So get 200amp × 2 = 400amp

400amp × 12= 4800w

At 50% DOD we have 2400w

2400w ÷ 160= 15hrs

But how do you choose the right ones? Which factors are essential to consider when buying an inverter and battery in Nigeria.

There are thousands of branded inverters and batteries on the Nigerian market. If you choose an inverter and battery combination with the wrong specification for your Use Case, you could end up with a costly mess.

Amp rating of battery x inverter voltage (assuming 80% efficiency and depth of discharge ) ÷ total load wattage.

Example:

200ah (Amp rating of battery) x 24v (Voltage of inverter) assuming 80% efficiency and depth of discharge ÷ 385 watts (Load) = approximately 7 hours.

The above is the result of a continuous 385 watts load; in reality, the backup time could be increased significantly by managing the number of appliances you have on at any given time. For example, you may decide to only turn on your TV when your favourite programs are on.
