I went to renew my International Passport recently. It cost me just 18k. National Identity Card my foot.

My best advice is keep ur paper slip printout safe cause the original copy fit be till infinity

It's now a digital identity card with barcode reader.. The NIMC released an app recently for this that shows the digital copy of your ID card as it should be when printed... Bt the issue now is no means of printing it hence using it for verification on international portal isn't possible...

You get something like this once you are able to login to the app

he's talking about the plastic card, the main the main national card, or did you mean the number

I registered and completed the process for mine around October 2013 and I got the plastic December 2020.

But someone told me the new card is fine.That it's his brother that works in NIMC Headquarters Abuja that got it for me.That he registered and got the original plastic Id within a week.He said you can use the card to withdraw from any bank ur bvn is linked with

Consider doing Driver's license or international passport.

Anything you don’t pay for in Nigeria, be rest assured you would suffer well to get it. We value money too much in this country.

If that National ID had a price tag, I would have applied without coercion. As na free, I just know say the suffer go too much, because we are at the mercy of FG and those civil servants.

I never do am. Yesterday I went to pick up my renewed DL and they said I must present National ID to get it. Say na new directive. Finally they gave it to me and said “You’ll appreciate us o”

Same here.

Although mine got missing almost immediately. Especially as I found out the slip is even better. The NIN is not on the plastic card, thereby rendering it somewhat useless.

I thought it's NIN and not the ID card. The plastic card doesn't even have the NIN on it.

the card has expired then, it is 5 yrs. mine was 2015 to 10/2020 Expiration. And i collected the card in 2017

Do you mean the original or that fvcking slip? I was issued the slip 6yrs ago just like OP. Whenever I go to their office to request for original they always tell me to wait that I will receive a text once it's out.

I don't mind paying that 5k to get the original, I need it badly. Someone told me I can get the original in PH if I part with some money but don't know if it's true.

Some of you saying the NIN is more important than the card are talking as if you ain't Nigerians.

I wanted to open an account few years ago and went with the slip, the guy looked at me and said "What's this" I said ID card.....He was just staring at me as if am an alien and said he can't accept it. That I should bring a valid ID card. If I had gone with a plastic national ID he wouldn't have reacted like that.
