Take a look carefully, there were two transactions on the same date 6th of January. Maybe she someone to do the first one who also was with her phone. Did she make the first one of #5k?

On the 6th of January, the sum of Twenty Five Thousand (25000) Naira was fraudulently withdrawn from my wife's Stanbic ibtc Bank Account. What baffles me was she didn't get alert for the transactions till even as i types this. She found out her money was missing when she bought airtime directly from her account.

We went to the bank to get statements of her account put realised her ATM CARD was used on the POS centre and machine below in the picture.

Please, how do we track this transaction?
Thanks

You are coming to Nairaland to ask us how you can track a POS purchase, is it not your bank that's supposed to give you the guidelines on this??

Anyway I'm just asking pls....
Re: PHOTOS : How Do I Track A Fraudulent POS Transaction? by handie(m): 7:03am On Jan 09, 2021
Why are we not exploring the possibility that she most likely tried to withdraw initially and due to network, she was debited 5k and 20k. On the bank statement, it definitely will show as a successful transaction. Let her lodge a dispute claim. However, if it was actually a successful transaction, then that would be a loss on the part of the Merchant and a 25k loss ain't no small thing.... Particularly for a transaction he knows nothing about. In summary, it's either a dispense error or someone close to ur wife got access to her phone. I'd advise you ask her if she tried making withdrawals on such sums on the said date

It isn't a POS agent but parkway store. Stop killing our POS business

Nobody is killing your so called buisness.

You should rather beg your fellow POS colleagues to desist from using loopholes to scam customers.

That's why I don't accept transfer from people I don't know.

You should also note that Using ATM cards at POS terminal puts users at risk with the advent of POS devices that are set to automatically store logs...

Nobody is to be left vulnerable in business.

I'd rather move away from your shop than transact with you with my ATM card.

Take it or leave it.

I am currently having the same issue with my account with UBA. I noticed a debit of 5k via pos without my knowledge and my card is intact with me. I’m already taking this up with UBA for a chargeback.

1. Advice- send a mail to your bank with all relevant details and a form for chargeback will be issue to you or better visit their nearest branch.

2. Block your card and e-channel immediately.

Try as much as possible to make USSD transfer to the POS agent account when you need to transact.

You need to run away from any POS agent who refuses to receive transfer from you.

It will be difficult to get refund since you are very sure that her ATM was used for the transactions.

You can as well go to the company to inform them that your ATM card was fraudulently charged. It will be good if the company can watch the security camera (in case they have one) to see the criminal behind this drama.

You should also cancel the ATM card then apply for a new one because these criminals also know how to clone a card.

The transaction was either from someone who stole your card or your card was being cloned.

You can also petition the bank if you are sure that you have your card with you when those transactions were made

as for the OP, you cannot get the money back. you cannot arrest the POS operator, he is protected by banking laws. as far the withdraw was done using her ATM card , it means the person knows her pin. People go to ATM machine to withdraw for other people, same with POS. it is not the POS agent position to start detecting stolen ATM cards. your money don loss, even your bank cannot help you. guard your ATM jealousy next time.

Forget it..her card was used by a close person...i can see the card number(master card precisely).

Get to know what time the card was used, get a police warrant and take it to the store .
The cctv footage at the time of the card usage would be checked to know the real user.

Log on to your bank account online and go to the statements section.
Bring up copies of each statement listed until you find the transaction you are looking for.
Note the date of the transaction and the amount, along with the transaction ID number as listed on the statement. Call or visit your bank to get more information on the transaction.
The more information you can supply the bank, the more information they will be able to give you about the specific transaction you are trying to trace.

GOODLUCK!

clever by half buhari supporter, can't you see he has already obtained his statement. must you comment trash?

Most POS agents refuses this type of transfer transactions cos it lands them in trouble. Some of the customers are fraudsters with fake alert, or uses a stolen phone to do the transfer.

My neighbour's daughter got into trouble with her bank. She had to pay 55k she didn't eat.

Some people would do transfer and still report to their banks that their account was used for fraudulent transactions.

oga stop saying things you don't know. don't let poverty make you think you are smart. there is no POS machine that can ever save a customers pin! not even the number at the front! in case you don't know, all pos machine has a bank acquirer. so which bank will give you a machine that will allow you save sensitive data that even a bank manager cannot assess. may God help your ignorance. you clearly have not done pos business before so sh*t up. kelloger ni kelloger ko. trying to be clever when you are dumb.

Most pos agent don’t collect transfer

Cox they don’t want fraudsters using their account as middleman to transfer money from hacked account

So they always insist on atm card

This is all about two side of a coin.if you are decent does not make other POS operators decent like you.A colleague's salary was swept off his account as we were paid and through his bank assistance on tracking, its was discovered that the issue arose from where he used POS and detailed were given to him for him to use any legal means to get the fraudster that made the withdrawal..Two things are involved here, you report to the Police and the Police will now hunt for the CONFIDENCE MAN and some POS operators work hand in hand with fraudsters or they themselves are fraudsters. In all businesses,we have addle eggs and decent people.May God help us not to be victims.

ogbeni shut up and stop making fool of yourself jare.. 70% of pos shop wont accept transfer.. they are at the risk of more loss compared to customers.. it is almost impossible for the pos to have your card details and even if it has it , you would need to input the pin to initiate every transaction...

Just so you know, most of our atm details are for sell in darkweb for as cheap as $50.. so incase of op, it is either his wife atm is cloned or someone close to her used the atm then delete it.. years ago I did this for my dad since he no dey use atm that year , he would always go to the bank to withdraw ... Immediately i used it , I will just delete alert and do fem.. the day I transfer 40k was when he noticed and decided to go to the bank on monday ( it was actually friday )..oboy I quickly returned the money on Saturday and I told him the bank don rectify the issue... grin I thief my papa money no be small..
Btw, I'm not a pos agent , but this is common sense..

Most accounts are swiped due to carelessness.. but still any account can be swiped. best thing is not to have atm card atall ..
