Let the Fulani herdsmen take care of their herd on their land. These cows eat up crops and this creates tension.

That's not my point.
Amoketun is created to tackle criminals in South, it's not directed to a particular tribe or religion.

Didn't you read a report where they clash with some people in Oyo state?
And 2 or 3 people died or so.
at any point are you at the point of the clashes? if no. then you should be mindful of saying they are sponsored. always know that people who benefit from crime will be the first to castigate a fight against criminal. the truth is they know those commit this crime among them, but the threat of revealing it

Just shut up. Fish in a pond. Are they not Nigerians. Sabin gari where Igbos and other tribes lives in Kano is more bigger than some state capital in the east.

As usual, everything becomes tribal. And the whole thing has been incited by the unscrupulous attention seeking media, and enhanced by my ever shallow and ever gullible fellow Nigerians.

Deliberate targeting of an ethnic group is a hate crime; which is why the media doesn't (and shouldn't) accuse all Igbos of being drug dealers, or all Yorubas of being ritual killers for example; nor does it keep associating these tribes with these respective crimes in print. The Fulani herdsmen unable to come online to defend themselves, or because they do not control the media, is no excuse to target their entire group incessantly because of the alleged actions of some. When you incite hatred, you kill the innocent along with the guilty. Everybody in this case is complicit, even if you only stayed home and retweeted 'Fulani herdsman' news.

Criminality is criminality. If a crime is committed, secure the criminal and charge him to court without accusing his entire tribe of committing the same crime. Even a suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty, how much more an entire ethnic group? This is how Rwanda's disaster started...with hate speech being broadcast on the media; leading to a third of the mostly innocent population being massacred. In Nigeria, that would mean 70million people.

If you think it's ok to keep up this tribal idiocy and risk the lives of so many people, then continue.

Except in a shoot out scenario, Amotekun should be arresting criminals and taking them to court rather than shooting at sight.

Government should probe the whole episode.
Hisbah should stop destroying beers in the north
The truth is that open grazing is no more as it used to be,herders and their government should embrace Ranching and the Fulani's should expose their criminal Kitts and kin's from outside Nigeria rapping women, kidnapping passengers

What most people don't understand is that most of the armed herdsmen are usually not even fulani. We have thousands of Fulani settlements all over the north and they have not been causing trouble. The killer jerders and bandits sometimes even raid those settlements and seize their cows. Obviously, attacking a settlement full of young and old Fulani men will not go unanswered by the Fulanis. I trust them.

Stop typing wat you don't know

I have a friend in Benue and he will never stop complaining on how the fulanis are giving them big problem and destroying their farms

not all fulanis are bad but we must look into dis issue of the ones wrecking havoc on people's livelihoods

First give that advice to your Nigerian army and police! For a shootout to have occurred, it stands to reason that the Fulani were equally armed! Unless you’re saying they were spotted with their cows in the deep forest, innocently minding their own business, and were summarily executed for no reason!?

It doesn't matter who practises tribalism or in what form. Everyone should just stop. The whites imposed the concept of tribalism on us to divide and rule us and in our slavish mentality, we continue to follow in the path they laid out for us even after they left. Have you heard debates in the UK media as to whether Boris Johnson is ethnically Welsh, Scottish, Irish or English? Do you hear Justin Trudeau's ethnicity being reported? Vladimir Putin? No. It's only we blacks that keep our tribes on the front burner for immediate use.

I'm out of here. I hate commenting on Crime or Political threads. We Africans are always shallow analysts at best.

How do you define a criminal ? What do you call a man that hides in a forest with dangerous weapons with the intent of killing ,rapping ,kidnapping, land grabbing and other criminal intents ?

If you're not comfortable with what Amotekun is doing in our land, you can relocate to Borno or Sambisa. Trust me, we have not even started with the criminal fulanis in Yoruband.

THE POLITICS OF REPORTING ÀMỌ̀TẸ́KÙ

Today, the South West Security Network codenamed Àmọ̀tẹ́kún is said to have gunned down a number of criminals terrorizing Ibarapa axis of Ọ̀yọ́ state in a gun duel that lasted several hours. The security personnel also sustained various injuries and it is likely some of them have paid the supreme price.

However, report of the activities of Àmọ̀tẹ́kún by national dailies recently left a lot of questions in the heart of discerning mind. Àmọ̀tẹ́kún were reported by some dailies to have killed Fulani herdsmen and not criminals. This is how the fourth estate of the realm help fan embers of war and discord.

The fact remains that Àmọ̀tẹ́kún was created to fight criminals and not because of a particular ethnic group as newspapers have been painting it. The UI student alleged to have been shot by Àmọ̀tẹ́kún is not a Fulani. Thugs recently fought by the security outfit in Ibadan were not Fulani but Yoruba.

Saying Àmọ̀tẹ́kún killed some bandits in Ibarapa today should have been the best way to report the incident and not that they killed some ethnic groups. I can still remember how Yoruba people were spraying money on a Fulani/Bororo boy singing Fuji music around World Oil Petrol Station around Iwo Road in Ibadan few years back. That is who we are; we are accommodating to any tribe that is not criminally minded.

Let those who want to paint Àmọ̀tẹ́kún bad remember that even though their agenda was to kill Àmọ̀tẹ́kún and foster spirit of the Nigeria nationhood, what they are saying could also fan ethnic clash and genocide. Àmọ̀tẹ́kùn is not against Nigeria unity, it was created to secure southwest from rising crime of banditry, farm destruction, rape of rural women, kidnapping, armed robbery and proliferation of arms.

Crime is crime irrespective of who committed it and the security operative is charged with fighting crime, not Fulani herdsmen.

If an ethnic group is known for a particular crime, fighting criminals among them is not fighting the ethnic group. Let us be careful of how we report issues like this.
