Can I get pcr covid test in airport
Asking

Covid test is done in a lab/ hospital and not in an airport ... also most test dont come out immediately so it's not advisable to do a test on the day of travel. You might need to do it at least 48days before travel date

Good evening.
Please guys, I have a question .
After been denied visa at the Lagos consulate (my first attempt), if I decide to schedule an interview at Abuja Embassy for the second attempt ,will the embassy in Abuja have details about the former DS160 I submitted to the Lagos embassy?

I firstly want to give God all the glory and adoration for making today's interview a success. I know I can not thank him enough but I give him all the glory because it could only have been him

Secondly I thank God for blessing me with a wonderful fiance that never gave up on me even when I almost gave up on it after the 3rd time I told him I wasn't going for any interview again, he just told me let's give it one more trial and also for all the support and words of encouragement. I also have the best younger sister in the world.

Then Geewin, I messaged him from nairaland after he got his Visa approved, it has been great knowing him. He answered all my questions, helped me with appointment date, checked my transcript and also encouraged me even though he was busy making traveling preparations.

I celebrate fairheart also for helping me go through my transcript even with his tight schedules

Lastly I celebrate Tesla for the mock interviews and also linking me up with his friend Dami for mock interviews and also for the encouragement. And also everyone who helped me with mock interviews.

And to everyone who has posted transcripts in the past to encourage people going through hard times due to delay(s). May we all continue to have reasons to celebrate

It's a long transcrip but read till the end

VO: Good morning

Me: Good morning. Happy new year

VO: so why are you going to the US

Me: I am going for my masters degree in food science at North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University and I will be working with Prof. *** on her research which is on Nutritional Genomics.

VO: why this school
Me: I chose NCAT because I am interested in prof. *** research as I earlier said the research is on Nutritional Genomics and after making my intents known to her about my interest in her research she offered me a position as a research assistant and the position came with a funding opportunity, here is the funding letter (she didn't tell me to pass it so I held on to it)
And also the school has a track on post harvest technology i.e the school has a post harvest technology research center and it is generally known that one of the major problems of food insecurity in Nigeria is post harvest losses of farm produce, i believe i will be able to take courses on post harvest technology among other courses and make use of the knowledge upon my return to Nigeria thereby helping to reduce the problem of food insecurity.
Lastly this degree will help me ( she cuts in)

VO: I can see you have funding of ... and deficit of .... who ll be paying for the deficit?

Me: my mother

VO: what does she do

Me: she distributes Nigerian Breweries products within and outside osun state

VO: where does she live

Me: osun state in ife

Vo: what is the name of her company

Me: adet distributing company

VO: adet?

Me: Yes, from our surname

VO: ok

VO: do you have anything to proof this

Me: no, the only thing I have is her bank statement

VO: ok

VO: what is the capacity of her company

Me: she has above 40 staffs, 10 majorand above 25 contract staffs

Vo: since when has she been doing the business

Me: over 10 years

Vo: what will this course do for you

Me: upon my return to Nigeria as I was saying earlier, this degree will equip me with knowledge and skills because the research I will be working on with prof. *** as I said has never been done in Nigeria before and when I return I would continue with the research because I have been promised a position at the department of food sci. Oau where I graduated a position as a research scientist by then the equipments required would have been ready has they have written a grant towards that( she kept nodding and I didn't look away)

VO: what did you study during your undergraduate

Me: I'm going for my masters degree in food science

Vo: I mean your undergraduate (pointing at my I-20)

Me: oh I studied food science at oau

VO: what year did you graduate

Me: I graduated in 2018

VO: what have you been doing since then

Me: after graduation, I went for the compulsory NYSC and finished late 2019, early 2020 I resumed at the department of food science oau as a research assistant

VO: you are working as a research assistant?

Me: I am volunteering as a research assistant due to my interest in research. I assist Dr. *** in preparation, writing and review of manuscripts and journal articles also in performing experiments on her research

VO: what is the research about?

Me: we worked on the bioactve compounds in pawpaw, we word on the determination of the abundance of bioactive compounds in pawpaw before the lockdown ( I stammered at first before I regained balance but I didn't take my eyes off as she kept nodding and typing)

VO: what were you doing during the lockdown, did you take professional courses or what

Me: since we were done with the experiments before the lockdown, I assisted in writing of articles and journals

VO: ok, what have you been doing since after lockdown

Me: like I said we have been writing manuscripts and journals and we haven't been able to resume since ASUU is still on strike and I have been making preparations for resumption

VO: so what will you do when you return?

Me: as I earlier said I will be resuming as a research scientist at OAU because I will be working on the experiment since it has never been done in Nigeria and by then the equipments would have been available

VO: so you have a job already

Me: yes

How many siblings do you have

Me: 4, 3 elder siblings who are married and working and a younger sibling who is in her 3rd year in oau

VO: what did you say

Me: I repeated same thing

VO: do you have any friend in the Us

Me: no, just the ones I have been in contact with

VO: I can see you have funding, how can you proof to me that you will be working as a research assistant ( I guess she asked that because of the way they stated the funding in my I-20, I had the same issue with the black VO in Abuja the last time)

Me: I have emails printed here that I got from her and from the international office ( Fortunately I printed the emails they sent to me when I told them I wasn't going to be able to resume for orientation and all) she passed it back then I passed her the funding letter

VO: then she said the words, i will be approving you visa. I collect the white slip it and just left crying, thanking God

It was when I got back to the hotel I realized she didn't circle the pick up location but it doesn't matter anyway.

A testament that one should not give up on one's dream. I am encouraged by this. Was it the same university that you were interview for the first, second, third and fourth attempt?

Good evening. Please I need a suggestion.
It only came to my notice recently that it isn't smart to present yourself to the VO as unemployed and that one shouldnt alter information on a previous ds160.

Here's my case.

In my very first ds 160.
I chose that I am unemployed.
Reason: I am unemployed but I have worked as a mathematics teacher before

My second ds160:When I filled not employed on my ds160 ,I wrote that I quit my job so as to focus on my Gre and TOEFL, but in my spare time I do some volunteering for my advisor.

Please, I need a suggestion .
I want to fill a fresh ds160.
What can I fill or maintain in my thirds ds160, that won't serve as a red flag to the VO?

Anyone with Visa approved in the past week and passport not ready for pick up yet? I saw that @EfTee14 had the same issue for over 6 Business days and the passport isn't ready for pick up still... I had mine approved Jan 4th and still not ready as of today when I checked with DHL in Victoria Island.

I had mine on the 5th, Tuesday, and it was ready on Thursday afternoon.

Yes, the Abuja VO will have all details in the DS, and also the details of your previous interview at Lagos Consulate

Good evening. Please I need a suggestion.
It only came to my notice recently that it isn't smart to present yourself to the VO as unemployed and that one shouldnt alter information on a previous ds160.

Here's my case.

In my very first ds 160.
I chose that I am unemployed.
Reason: I am unemployed but I have worked as a mathematics teacher before. I was denied visa during my first attempt at the Lagos embassy.

My second ds160:When I filled not employed on my ds160 ,I wrote that I quit my job so as to focus on my Gre and TOEFL, but in my spare time I do some volunteering for my advisor.
I have already scheduled an interview date but I can't appear at the embassy because it is more than 4months to resumption

Please, I need a suggestion .
I want to fill a fresh ds160.
What can I fill or maintain in my thirds ds160, that won't serve as a red flag to the VO? Should I maintain what I filled in my second ds160!

Good morning house,

I have F1 visa and admission in Northeastern University.
pls is it possible that
1. I go to the university register few courses and then transfer my admission to another school?
2. I go into America and process a new admission entirely for Aug/sept 2021 and not resume at all.

You will be wondering why all this?
Na because of high school fees, way too expensive and I thought I will get more scholarship but only 10% off for now.

Number 1 is possible but do you have the other i-20 with you already? infact some school won't even require you to spend a semester with them, they will just transfer your Sevis record to the other school you want.

I know someone (BSC) who got admission into a university and a community college but got his visa with the university i-20 and when he got to the usa, he went to the university and told him he would like to transfer to the community college instead but he gave them good reasons.

They transferred it and went to the community college which was just $4500 per year, he did the best thing than staying out of status. But most schools won't transfer your Sevis record to a different school without you spending at least a semester with them

Thanks for this. It helped me settle cheaply. Was my first time in the island yesterday.

Chonco:

There are hotels around but it depends on your preference.

*Demlis hotel can be found inside the Federal Civil service club and it's along Awolowo road. Just a few minutes walk(1km or less) from the Embassy or you find a means to get there.
Price range: 6-10k

*Bayland guest house is another hotel located at 54 Forsythe Street and less than 8 mins to US embassy.
Price range: 5-8k

Westwood Hotel Ikoyi located at Awolowo road too.
Price range: Unknown

Atlantic Hotel: Location is very close to USE
Less than 8 mins

Go right ahead with your interview.

I got approved today.

Resumption - 6th Jan.
Visa Interiew-12th Jan

I wasn't even asked about the date discrepancies tho they rescheduled me to this date from dec last year. I had my letter of extension with me meanwhile. But the VO din't ask.

Thank you very much, I really appreciate you detailed response. I will try that cos I’ve been on this visa since and deferred admission twice already. Once last try last week na so them give me visa but school fees without scholarship is something else.
