Let me explain something to you. USA has a very bigger GPA than Luxembourg but a average Luxembourg citizen enjoy more than a USA citizens or richer than USA citizens because of the GDP income. Poor is relative. Poor in terms of worldwide standard of living. There are certain amenities that are considered basic.... 24/7 electricity and running water... good roads and road network.... and in this age ... nationwide reliable internet and wireless communication services.... then educational and health services .... and job opportunities.... jobs in which people can earn enough to adequately take care of their families. The extent to which a country can provide these determines whether a country is poor and how poor. How much is the GDP has nothing to do with what's happening on ground. If the GDP has raised by 500%... do you really believe Nigeria will no longer be termed a 'poor country"?
