And I pray also this morning that, your affairs will be managed the way they are running the affairs of Naija right now. Go and ask, everything has turned to gold including cement if you are building houses right now. People can't even send money anymore in peace from Diaspora. They are producing jobless graduates every now and then in the country. But you are here claiming front page because they facelifted the busiest airport in Nigeria. Nigerians deserve it, yes. Go to Istanbul airport and check out their own facelift/renovation.Turkey don't even have the kind of resources at their disposal but corruption has crippled everything here in Nigeria. Nigeria is in deep mess! I am disgusted. This is the kind of thread where you can dump all your trash. post=98107859: 1 Like |

etrouble:You're indeed mentally deranged since you've got no point to make. Isn't it absurd for all the airports in Nigeria to have almost same design looking like a library. A project like an airport should have an impressive design and structure, not just a mere building. What do you know? 1 Like |

tyup: So n only one design that is meant for 21st century? Besides that design you just put up was used in the end of 19th century. Most airports with that design were designed in that era and construction started same time or early 21st century. sotigbọ |

Kingzy4pep: I really couldn't care about the structure. Its services that run an airport not appearance. One of my favourite airports is the City Airport in London. Its so small and unimpressive looking but its one of the most stress free airports I have used and I have used many. Its not the facade, its about ease of use. 1 Like 1 Share |

BreconHills:I understand your point. Personally, I just feel since that's the major point of entry into Nigeria, it should have a very impressive look and the structure should be of international standard. Again what pisses me off is comparing the ridiculous amount that will be spent on this to what is obtainable in other nations. 1 Like |

Kingzy4pep: I am with you on the ridiculous amount. Most of the buildings built by the Chinese are templated for cost and material efficiency. But even with the cost savings, you can be sure that the differential between the face value cost and the build cost will be massive. Someone somewhere is laughing all the way to the bank 1 Like |

Ur talking as if many of the projects specifically airport all around Africa were built by indigenous companies.. If the airport was built by Germany company, Julius Berger..let me ask..is Julius Berger an indigenous companies..all are still the same foreign companies Including CCECC of Chinese origin the contractor who built this... There is no airport in Nigeria built by an indigenous company the same for Africa ...so please it not peculiar to Nigeria alone.. Even the almighty Dubai seemed for loans for it airport expansion..many of their projects were not 100 percent government funded..so I don't see why u should complain about the project being funded by loans..the key thing is that it should be able to generate enough revenue to pay back .. u and I know that the Lagos airport can do dat.. It only the airline that I must say is a shame..over all it better to have a standard airport that works and accommodate airlines Dan to have our own airline... Honestly there isn't any big deal if we have an airline or not...it doesn't stop anyone from flying to Nigeria.. even if we did..it doesn't mean every Nigerian will use it ..the main thing is to have a terminal that is comfortably efficient and free of corruption and any airline (local and international) can comfortably work with... Simple.. U don't have to look for a reason to hate what is good Farki: |

Simple truth.... Don't forget nepotism... Let bubu give up Nepotism at least ... support restructuring and start being a democrat not a general ..atleast that will cover the small shame for security... Over all bubu tried in infrastructure... security hasn't changed from GEJ time..I can't say it got worse..cuz in GEJ time...if u see how north was hell almost 9 state were under fire..but today it only borno..and Maiduguri is safer than it used to...I think the herdsmen issue just replaced those previous calamities etrouble: |

Look...some of y'all need to get educated atleast.. Even when u go to the bank to borrow money....the bank will ask for something as collateral...it not rocket science or wickedness... The key thing is we borrowed money..and we have to pay back in due time.. simple.. There is nothing wrong with China using their own project as collateral... The same term of agreement is applied to every other country... So ur now telling me that assuming we don't pay back..the Chinese should be looking like dummies or what ..please there is no big deal in using the project as a collateral..the same thing is applies to banks during loan application...even people who do ajo money do it.. it just a way to secure that money... And even if we don't pay back..are the Chinese now going to pack the terminal back to China..use ur head they will simply claim ownership and run it till they re cover their money... That is what banks around the globe do Farki: 1 Like |

Tekrify: Thank you. I was going to type the exact same thing but you spared me the effort. Those clauses in the Chinese contracts are standard. There must be a way to safeguard the loans, banks and other financial institutions do it all the time. The only worry is if the debtor does not intend paying back 2 Likes |
Re: Pictures Of The New International Terminal At MMIA by Farki: 1:36pm On Jan 16, 2021 |
Tekrify: This isn't a case of Nigeria paying Julius Berger to build X infrastructure, China is giving Nigeria loans which they will use to pay Chinese engineers. When the project is finished we will have to pay back China the loan money. , When we eventually are unable to pay it back due to the weak and ever dwindling economy we will give them control. Sri Lanka gave China control of their port for 99 years because they couldn't pay back the massive debt https://wap.business-standard.com/article/international/sri-lanka-leased-hambantota-port-to-china-for-99-yrs-now-it-wants-it-back-119112900206_1.html China will bring it's own workers and citizens to manage the infrastructure, taking jobs away from Nigerians. They will buy large amounts of property like they did in the US West Coast and Canada even if they don't live in those properties. After bringing enough of their people they will build military bases to protect their assets. This will go on until the country is completely colonised. See this isn't buying a house from a bank on credit, this is the equivalent of giving your neighbour your last born son in order to obtain money from him. I'm not saying taking a loan is bad but the terms of the loan are grossly asymmetrical and could have severe consequences several years down the line. You are saying what happened, I am saying what will happen because in Nigeria nothing is ever straightforward. 2 Likes |

Too simple and ordinary to be called an international terminal building in a very popular and big city as lagos!! We shouldn't be celebrating mediocrity!! The Chinese company building all these poultry houses all over Nigeria in the name of international terminal buildings can't replicate same in their home country. |

Re: Pictures Of The New International Terminal At MMIA by Tekrify(m): 3:12pm On Jan 16, 2021 |
What u say is partially true...you see china borrowed sri lanka money to build a sea port..the sea port didn't generate enough money to pay back the debts ..so china took over the port for 99 years to run it and recover their money... What happened if u study the story very well is that that port from the very beginning was not economically viable and sir lanka asked for loans from countries like India who said No because it will be a loss for them cuz the port won't generate enough revenue... China taking over the port was as a result of Sri Lanka's president foolishness and mistake.. The same agreement is present with the loans Nigeria took...if we don't pay back ..what ever infrastructure we used that money to build will be taken as collateral.... And it still the same thing Banks and other financial institutions will do... Now because it a country not a financial institution in this case then u can now have cases of China bringing their workers which ofcourse u can't accuse dem against it cuz they own the property already... I think this government is begin careful with what it takes it loans for..Buhari took loans for Lagos Ibadan rail, AKK gas pipeline and warri itakpe rail line.. All of which are extremely viable.. although the warri itakpe rail line can be debatable only because the ajaokuta steel mill is dead and warri port is almost dead...but I am confident that Lagos Ibadan and the gas project will generate enough to pay back.... U see previous government were the ones who I think were very foolish..they borrowed money to build Abuja metro line and Abuja Kaduna railine.. Abuja metro today is almost dead...do u know that if not for the security issues on Abuja Kaduna road..that railline will run at a loss..Inshort amaechi admitted that at a time it was seriously running at a loss.. So Jonathan instead of borrowing such loans for Lagos Ibadan which is fucking viable or maybe building a new sea port at bonny to decongest apapa ..the idiot took money to build in almost a death zone... rubbish.. If we are to have problems..part of the blaim should go to PDP with their foolishness.... But over all we can link our rail to the port and connect it to maradi.i honestly don't think Nigeria case will be like Sri Lanka.. Farki: |

The plan is for this new terminal to handle all international flights being handled by the present international terminal. Then, the present international terminal will be demolished, and rebuilt by Julius Berger at a cost of $38 million (however I think the final price tag will be higher) |

Thank God this project is nearing completion. The current int’l terminal is an eyesore. The terminal is basically the same design as the ones in port harcourt, abuja etc. |
