There are some courses you will top and even village people cannot catch you if you take advantage of your grade.

My BGS is currently teaching Engineering at a State university in Edo State.
He finished from a federal university.

The other one is doing PhD in MIT on scholarship.

The best student in my secondary school is now a medical doctor working at University of maiduguri teaching hospital. The best student in my class at the University was not just the best in my class alone, she was the best graduating student of the University dat year. She went to India for her master's degree and broke a century old record by taking home twenty maximum golds. She was once a subject of discussion on nairaland. She currently is a lecturer at federal university of petroleum Effurun.

Your class topper may not be what your expectations were about him at present, however, he can still grow to that giant you have expected him to be with time. We all are hustling, one thing is certain, never quit and while at that, keep building yourself.

That you topped others never meant you were smarter. When I was in school I hated academic protocols and curriculum. I never topped a class apart from my primary 5, I read outside the scheme topics that i find absorbing but it put me behind in position. In the end it paid off, i did better externally,I got admitted before the toppers,became an engineer,and got employed. In life generally our emotional intelligence ,persistence and grace leads the way to success than IQ and skill. Cheers.

You seem to be very self absorbed. He clearly stated that he is asking about how class toppers are now fairing in life and you have also in your statement said you were not a class topper, yet you have made this completely about yourself. Let me answer for myself as i was the class topper from my primary school to secondary school days.Most of my average classmates then are in their final years while i just started not too long because I refused to study just any course I was given but I'm still pressing on sha its not how far but how well.
Thankfully I've become street smart and not just book smart as i used to be before.

My Department 2014 Best student is a Team lead Business performance Analyst at FCMB. He was amongst the top 5 during Wema bank Executive assistants trainee for 2018/2019 before he left for FCMB last year.
Another one, who finished with a 3.90 CGPA has an MBA from a German university, where he works & live.
My Faculty BGS works with AFDB in Ivory coast after her Msc at University of Ibadan.
These people devoted their time to their studies at school. I wish i channeled all my energy too but plenty issue dey that time.
I think with a dint of luck, good grade, right age, & ability to pass aptitude tests, securing a job in Nigeria is not that hard regardless of what you study.
I finished from Olabisi Onabanjo University, a state owned uni before anybody says it is only Federal university graduates that are qualified for decent jobs, cos their alumni are spread all over the corporate companies in Nigeria.

One is with Shell, the other one is in ministry, one is balling in Europe. It’s pays to be diligent. Hard work pays.

This makes no sense. It's akin to wondering why all beautiful girls aren't in happy marriages or why America, one of the most developed countries in the world, can birth the likes of Trump. Shit happens. Afterall, we live in a world where nothing is ever perfect and outliers abound.

My class toppers are doing excellently well. Both are medical doctors and the best in their institutions. I am married to a class topper and let's just say that he is at the very peak of his career. In truth, I don't know of any that ended up a failure.

So before you get comfortable thinking it's all for naught, the truth still remains that if you put in the work, you are most likely to succeed in any sphere of life.

My sister and I used to share first position and second position.

As the universe willeth, 3yrs after secondary school neither of us had gotten admission in any school.

We we're blessed to have parents that understood the crooked educational system in Nigeria.

My sister eventually to a polytechnic and as for me?

I wrote Jamb for UNN and literally forgot about post utme ...

Moral of the story... It's not how far but how well.
Choosing to pause further education was one of the best decisions in my life.

And my sister and I are well grounded in our entrepreneurship adventures.

Personally for me School in Nigeria is not worth my time.

I'll keep doing what I'm doing until get the quality\stress free education that I deserve.

At least 100 million. The doctor and engineer guys stayed single, live very frugal lives and invested a lot in property, stocks and mutual funds. It is interesting how much these assets appreciate over 4-6 years of disciplined investment.
