Metcopo really dealt with me and my workers back then. There was a time I was living in dread of the rainy season because many of my clients will be calling for a repair of leaking roofs, even my own house built with Metcopo leaked till last year. I run away when anyone mentions Metcopo.
Why, I have it on one of mine building since 2016 no single leak till date. The corrugation may be the problem, though I brought mine directly from first aluminum in Lagos.

What you need to do is blend into the Onitsha scenery. You will never be bothered by anyone, wind up your car glasses in slow traffic, dont show people the bundles of money you have, keep your phones in your pockets and hustle like the next man. Onitsha is cool if you know how to navigate. As for late nights, it's very unsafe to keep late nights in any business areas in Nigeria, that didn't start today and will not end tomorrow.

Edit.
Touts in Onitsha? That's new. Where do they stay and what work do they do there, because Onitsha has only private motor parks, there is zero motor touting. The only people you will see chasing vehicles and collecting money are either local government agents or community youths, and they are well known. They come with printed receipts.

I'm telling you that the Touts/Robbers in Onitsha are very heartless and deserve Death sentence

Do you know how many people complain of being robbed along that axis

Ask tertiary Students in Anambra state... They'll tell you better

Yes, building a house in Nigeria is worth it especially when you’re doing it early in life.

The house you own here is an asset which can generate for you a passive income.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I should use steptiles 0.45mm.

Hope you recommend it?

I’d recommend you push for 0.55 gauge of step tiles. Not many installer can handle 0.45 gauge very well.

They’ll install but you’d experience leakage after they’ve left and after you might have installed valuables in your building.

0.55 is far more reliable and you get less complaints from those who use this gauge.

Also, buy from reputable aluminum company. There are cheaper alternatives but if you’re directly involved in materials purchase, I’d recommend you buy from big aluminum companies. You’d save yourself lot of headache and heartaches in the long run.

Your roof is as good as the man who installed it.

Happy Building!!

Offcourse faulty currugation machines...the bends and curves are very fragile same as handling....poor handling causes more damage..

Good evening ..

This is urgent.

I just finished my wood work on Friday. I am torn between using metcoppo or steptiles aluminum sheets 0.45mm.

Please which one will you guys recommend based on experience?

Is it true that the are both prone to leaking?

I have quotations for both..

I just need to make a choice before paying.

Please help me..
don't use metcoppo or steptiles, use long span or Gerrard if you have the money. So many leakage with metcoppo especially and they won't be able to correct it until they remove all the roofing sheet

First express is good company atleast you are sure of the guage you are paying for...they get their coils from first aluminum i think...well they used to but not sure now...

I am not sure why everyone is shouting 0,55gauage....0,45 would do the job easily... back in the days while I was IT student at BEST aluminum .... colorcoat or colotek from first aluminum 0,55 are recommended mostly for metal rafters/industrial buildings with highwalls or for places with excessive winds...
Times may have changed but still....again if you have money to pay for extra guage who are mine...till next time....

These two are major reasons why steptiles leak.

We know all route where people make such money, we have traveled abroad, we have been to few countries, I have mingle with big people in Nigeria as well, we know where they make it BIG. Government thieves, drug pushers, fraudsters (wire wire crew) and ritualist. It's very hard turning 10m to 100m within few years in Nigeria economy.

We have rich people in Nigeria; yes! accept... but what's their root to the TOP? Nigeria is the only country where anybody can become rich overnight without tracing their source....... people like Invictus Obi, shina pella comes to mind.

how did the generator importer started? Most of these importers fraud foreigners and won't pay for goods shipped after sending advance or nothing.

his brother was doing the business when my Oga was an engineering student at UNN. Unfortunately his elder brother died and he took control of the business and brought education to the business. The business exploded exponentially and today he's one of the biggest importers of generator parts in Nnewi. If you have any petrol generator, I can bet you that you have his product in the generator.

He's also into the importation of motor parts

Not everyone here is looking for cheaper alternatives.

How do I know?

I have client here who spent as much as N2m to draw a semi detached duplex plan. Most architects here would charge 700k as premium to go same job.

I have those who spent as much as 20m to import unbreakable glass panel for their residential builds. A cheaper alternative would cost less than N4m.

There are people making it legitimately here. They’re just silent.

The answer will depend one one's need. If you live outside the country, and do not intend to live in Nigeria, then it may not be the wisest thing to do. However, if you visit Nigeria regularly enough, it's probably fine to have somewhere to stay while you are on ground. So having a property there is a good idea. Plus, some or part of the property can be rented out. In my opinion though, it's better to OWN a property (Paid off) where ever you actually stay, before thinking about somewhere you just visit occasionally.
