Instead of treating you and then handing you over to the police, they would ask you to get police report first.

By the time you get to the station, the police may delay you and be asking irrelevant questions and may want to keep you either as a suspect or an exhibit.

By this time, the person must have lost so much blood and may eventually die.

But that doesn't concern the police.

We just pray that we should not be victims.

Don't you know that he was already tagged a criminal? That was why police and doctors refused to attend to him. If we had a system which says all gunshot victims should be attended to and reported to the appropriate authority in the course of treatment, the guy might still be alive now.

it is against the law, if a doctor treat a gunshot victims without police approving it, that doctor will be arrested, anyway, the guy was an innocent he was just not lucky

This is why sometimes, the medical staff in Nigeria disgust me. They always cry about how the country is bad and all, does that give them the right to be bad also? Even in the midst of hell itself, one should try to be at most, even if not a good medical personnel, a good HUMAN BEING, a GOOD PERSON. This staff that refused to attend to this boy now, if you see them in their places of worship, you won't dare to near them. They seem so holy, they make everyone around them feel dirty, and sinful.
Has the NMA forgotten the Hippocrates oath they take, to treat anyone regardless of anything. Even if they thought he was a criminal the least they can do is tie his legs and hands after treatment, and call the police. They always want to emulate the whites, forgetting that abroad, even terrorists are treated so they can face the full extent of the law. I remember the Nigerian Senate under Saraki resolved that gunshot injuries should be treated by hospitals while the hospital management gets in contact with the Nigerian police. Was it just a resolution or a bill, why not a Law ?
