Monarchs hails Oyetola's governance model, endorses him for second term

..As SWAGA 2023 flags off in Osun

Traditional rulers in the State of Osun have described the governance model of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola as one that is progressive and has service at its heart.

The monarchs also endorsed Oyetola for a second term in office, stating that it will be to the advantage of the State if there is no disruption.

Speaking at the flag-off of the South-West Agenda 2023 in the State of Osun, the Oludo of Iddo Osun, Oba Aderemi Adedapo, the Secretary for the Council of Obas and Chief in Nigeria, described the performance of Governor Oyetola as one that has attracted attentions even at the federal level.

According to him: "We are not politicians, but when we have identified the right path to follow, it is only ideal and logical to follow that path and guide the people under our domain. That is only how we can enjoy the dividends of democracy and good governance.

"So, we are reaping from his ingenuity, and we desire his continuity after this current term elapaes", Oba Adedapo stated.

He also called on the yoruba race to embrace the South West Agenda 2023, adding that the yoruba race is blessed with different grades of leaders who have what it takes to help the cause of the region and by extension the nation.

He continued: "We have blessed to have great leaders among the yoruba race. If you look at the trajectory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he has three main gift that an Omoluabi should have.

"He is a strategic thinker, a man one with the privilege of foresight and of even temper. Secondlt, he is a reliable man, one who has integrity, a virtue that is very rare in the black race. Lastly, he is someone who will always add value to your life", he added.

Corroborating his submissions, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi Adewale, described Governor Oyetola as one who is in government to serve and not to get personal benefits.

He also lauded the South West Agenda 2023, adding that it is an opportunity to correct the mistakes of the past.

He said: "We have seen the fruits of a great leader. We are not going to be ungrateful to our leaders, our heroes and legends anymore. We've done that to Awolowo in the past, but no more. This time, we are going to correct the mistakes of the past. We are not going to be ungrateful.

"Asiwaju is an ideologist. He has made so much impact. He has built great leaders, people who are real servants of the land, one of whom is our own Governor Oyetola who has distinguished himself and made it unequivocally clear that all he wants to do is serve and nothing more", Oluwo stated.

This is how praise singers in Africa hail their leaders and drift them from forward looking.

I've come to learn that the worst dictators in African governance all have those rooting for, supporting and praising them in their evil agendas.

We are found of idolising sitting leaders even when those leaders are wrong or wicked. Failure on the path of our religious and traditional leaders to speak truth to power is one of the causes of leadership drift and failure in this part of the world.

I remember how some religious and traditional leader were always cheering IBB and Abacha at the peak of their dictatorial/evil leadership.

Speaking truth to power will help any sitting leaders to be directional and in return heal societal wounds.

I beg to differ

Is the issue really about praise singing or the fact that the quality of leaders I mean some not all , from an intellectual perspective is rather weak.

After all Kim Jong Ill has had his praise singers , same with Putin and every other dictator in history albeit as nerve wracking as this seems.

In my opinion, leave the praise singers and focus on electing quality leaders of substance

This comment from oludo of ido-osun and oluwo of iwo is not a surprise. We can still remember that the former gathered his wealth by romancing with sanni abacha when people were suffering greatly in this land while everyone knows the personality of the latter (yah** ya**o king). You can sing praises of oyetola till next millennium but the scar left in the heart of civil servants and retirees about the wickedness meted out to them by aregbesola/oyetola government will surely affect his chances.
You can continue to enjoy your cash gift from oyetola for now.

Firstly, there's no reason for you to wail more than the bereaved. The good people of Osun love Oyetola.

Secondly, it's evil of you to mention Oyetola and Abacha in the same breath.

Finally, speaking truth to power also involves commending them when they do well.

Oyetola is too old. 90% of politicians recycling their rule over Nigerians are very old and they're clueless join. Old people should have the advantage of wisdom par experience. But reverse is the case in Nigeria. So what endorsement are they talking about? How can you be endorsing foolishness! I don tire for these people sha

Awon onijekuje!

We are the ones that will vote, their endorsement is meaningless. If there's no spoiler like Omisore in the next election, Oyetola will lose to the PDP candidate. I don't have any problem with Oyetola, he's trying, but he became our Governor in an unjust way. Besides, I don't like voting for an executive for a second term, they tend to do rubbish when they win. That was how Aregbesola did, hunger was everywhere, infact, Aregbe was a disaster.

We Osun people don't hate Oyetola, he's trying, but I doubt his second term. We cannot afford to be fooled again as Aregbe did to us.
On a serious note, apart from paying salaries regularly, he's not doing anything. I haven't seen any of his projects.
