So, what is wrong with minority not wanting to loose it's autonomy? After all Vatican city is a country of it's own with just 1000 people. The most important thing is general happiness of a people. Everybody form your country, one nation, one language, one culture, one God. That's all. Scatter this country already please |

Bro Joe, how long do u think we can do mind restructuring? What are the processes involved. I suggest we start from visible areas by going straight to restructuring the country with the mind by the side as well. Will the President react to this quickly so that from now till May something will happen because I hate delay |

SouthNigerian: Jega was very correct in his statements. Accountability, good governance and genuine fight against corruption will fix most of Nigeria's issues. The whole restructuring call is nonsense. |

SouthNigerian: Jega was very correct in his statements. Accountability, good governance and genuine fight against corruption will fix most of Nigeria's issues. The whole restructuring call is nonsense. Jonathan's thinking can only be actualized when what Jega postulated is achieved. As for Nwodo, he said nothing at all. |

Why is it that when people are in government they do not see anything wrong. Nwodo was with them when the evil was done but failed to complain but now that he is out of power his eyes are widely opened. Very shameful. |

CoolAmbience:Ok na. keep postponing it. saying it nonsense. when push comes to shove and we are all tired of the country..we go divide. but we're telling them now, save Nigeria from division by restructuring and bringing in a new Constitution. A constitution where it won't matter the state you originate from but if you have live in a particular region or state for up to 10 years you can contest for election and vote to, be you white, brown, black, Christian, Muslim, Jewish etc. as long as the people there vote for you just as how it is done in develop world like the USA, UK, Germany etc. A constitution where a region will have it own national guard(USA type) which will answer to the regional governor only. and the state leaders( like mayor ) will control the police..which entirely will be made up of people that is from the state or have live there for more than 10 years and swear allegiance to that state . A constitution where institutions of the state will have enough power to even investigate a president ( Trump and the Russia election Saga) A constitution where they won't be immunity for the Governors/ Mayors of any region/ state A constitution where they won't be asking for Religion, State of Origin, language etc(Like the USA) A constitution where each state will control their resources and make money from it and give a certain agreeable percentage to the centre govt. so each and every state/ Region will grow at it own pace not being slow down by a particular region. A constitution where the federal Govt will only control the army, airforce,Navy, immigration, Foreign affairs etc.. A constitution where each state/ Region will build and supply it citizen power. so if Region A refuses to invest in power it won't affect region C. A constitution where the state Govt or regional govt will invest in their own rail lines without having to go through the FG. A constitution where they will be security for the people and they won't be scare of the fulani if they're in power. A constitution that will make the FG very weak and the regional govt stronger....so the Igbos won't care who is in power or the north won't care cause they control their own resources and do what they like. A constitution where every state will have it own supreme Court, high court etc with it own laws....just like the USA. Every state law differs. A constitution where even the police chief or govt will not be able to defend a Police man who kill extrajudicially etc. A constitution where election will be free and fair and any politician who is caught committing election fraud will be dealt with and will be ban from ever participating in any election ( can vote but never be voted for) Politicians head go clear by force. Bro when will restructure like this, our mindset will restructure too. no one will be blaming any region or state for it woos. 3 Likes |

Restructuring is the way to go, Mr Jega. Minorities will taste power if power is rotated. Oga Jona, your talk on mind restructuring can only be achieved if our educational system is very very sound, cos, as long as there are semi educated people in influential positions, nepotism will still be the order. You don't expect people to wake one morning and restructure their mind as one, at once, together, like in the twinkling of an eye, do you? Be realistic for once. Nwodo is right. |

I do not believe in restructure as being clamored by most people in Nigeria. I want unconditional disintegration of Nigeria. As long as I have Republic of Igboland, the rest could be sorted out. However in there should be any form restructure, it must be on economic equity of the defunct regions of Nigeria. Lagos and Abuja, which constructed with commonwealth, must sited in the defunct eastern and midwestern regions. |

Jega is correct and I support him. Long before now I posted on FB that Nigeria should become 36 AUTONOMOUS FEDERAL STÀTES based on existing , States, ,and the FCT, ( like Washington DC). Everything else will fall into place as we work out any worries. The problem we have is our insincerity and greed of the Rulling Class. They "fiddle while Nigeria is burning." Che sera sera! |

AustineJohn908: Is that your take? I don't see any reason for a restructuring. If regionalism was so perfect, what caused the country to go into a civil war? Which constitution empowers a police Chief to defend an offending police officer? Please, let's stop these unnecessary sensationalism. How does states having their own Supreme Court affect the common citizen? Won't these courts still be hijacked by the states? Governance is about accountability, transparency and rounded development. |

CoolAmbience:And all these stuffs about accountability, Transparency and rounded development can't take place if every one is scare of who is in the centre. is a fulani man that is the president, the Igbos will be scare, if it an igbo man the north will be scare or if it a Yoruba man the Igbos will be scare. it doesn't make sense And what I'm saying about Police chief defending an offending police man is that the police doesn't answer to the state Govtnors. check these SARS officers and what they did in Anambra state and you will see what I'm talking about. About the development part. do you know Akwa ibom state needed a FG approval before we could begin building the seaport? so that's means if a President comes in that don't like my state he can make sure approval aren't given for capital projects that will develop my state. Do you know Ex governor Akpabio spent allot of Akwa ibom money in building power plant to power the whole of Akwa ibom but when time came we had to send this Power to the centre so the whole Federation will share it? So it means if state A doesn't invest in power it will still reap the harvest that State B is supposed to reap? Do you know a Regional Govtment would've made sure that say South south region is linked up by Rail lines instead of waiting for a federal govt to link it up. Check out the East, they're begging the FG to link their region with Rail, don't you think a regional govt of theirs would've done that by now? Because the first Regional system was dissolved doesn't mean it was wrong, it shows the military leaders of that time were short sighted. If we don't 1 Like 1 Share |

If we don't restructure today we will all suffer tomorrow, Oil is becoming worthless and soon it will worth less than 10 dollars which will not be enough to offset our bills as a nation. The truth is that when we restructure now eery region will start planning of life without oil money(Daddy's money) and so leaders that will come in will have to think of where to get money from, and there will be less stealing. Lazy leaders won't go in any longer (especially those outside the oil producing Regions/states).... For all our good, we have to restructure now. Why is it that Kano, Kaduna all these sharia state keep sharing money for VAT they don't contribute in? same VAT their sharia police keep destroying bottles of beers etc. If you don't see restructuring can solve that then I can't help your case. |
Re: Jonathan, Jega, Nwodo Express Divergent Views On Restructuring Nigeria by onoja12: 6:17pm On Jan 22, 2021 |
restructuring my ass, nwodo explanation is that the constitution needs over hauling because he doesn't know who wrote it and he wasn't consulted, is he God. others say restructuring, when you asked them restructure to what then you begin to know that is stupidity, some says back to parliamentary system, wasn't it that system that lead to the hate in the first place, some say regional system wasn't it that system that lead to a civil war, what trash are they saying. all this tribalistic bigot thinking they are making sense, the issue with Nigeria is how we think everybody, nobody is patriotic everybody thinks about themselves and nobody thinks about the country, the educational systems has promoted the idea that everywhere is better than Nigeria, there is no self belief in ourselves, that has nothing to do with region, religion or tribe. the leaders are a reflection of the people, guess what every region and every tribe has a thief who contributed to the destructions of this country, so when i hear people say the north is dragging us back, i laugh.GEJ has spoken the truth spacechuks: |

AustineJohn908: These are just theories. They hold no real significance in how things truly work. You really just talk about things without facts. How can you say that Kano and Kaduna do not contribute to VAT? What has the dwindling oil fortune got to do with restructuring? Do states not have a responsibility for IGR generation already? I do not see how the police not answering to the Governor affects anything at all. Ask how well the Governors have faired / are fairing with the funds and powers currently at their disposal. Aren't they the real reason the country is moving at a snail speed? Tell me, if we have 36 + 1 hyper working units, who would really care about any center? How well are the states applying the resources that they receive and generate? There are rail links to the SS and SE, so I do not understand what you mean by 'begging' the FG for rail link up. Why should any sane Nigerian be scared of the man at the center? It makes no sense. There is nothing wrong with the states requiring approval to execute power, airport and / or seaport projects. These aren't Nigeria's real problems. Are these why we have unending corruption? Is it why the public school systems are failing? What about healthcare and sanitation? Is it why politicians are acquiring stupendous wealth and properties across the country and abroad, to the detriment of the masses? What has restructuring got to do with dishonesty in leadership? |
