Omo dem don unblock me for nairaland at last, all these mods make Una dey calm down o undecided

So I had my last bolt trip on Monday, Took rider from orchid road - Thomas estate, then rider opted for the whole day service to buy some stuffs @ Idumota and back to Thomas, we settle for 13k. Omo as we reached marina we got food then the waiting started.. from past 9am - past 5pm.

I'd say during that waiting time was the best thing that happened to me, we're still in January, the year still fresh to loseguard cheesy

First off, Investors, DONT INVEST anything above 1.5m in this business.

I own a car geng, There a other things far worth it out there you can do with your car, Take a trip to orchid road, if you don't find one example, then continue the Uber hustle cheesy

And most importantly, REMITTING DRIVERS cry

I have to hail you guys first of all! Na Una dey really keep Lagos moving! Any driver remitting back to back and still has a family deserves everything good in life cry Pls put eyes out there for better things brother, it's not easy, but it'll surely come.

I followed this page for a year plus before going into the streets of lagos cool But after 2months and 4days, I call it quit (to work only on public holidays) kiss

God bless us all, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

What happened bro?

After waiting for somebody from 10am to 5:30pm the person comes and still keeps you waiting and discussing with a woman.

What do you do at this point?

Some people are just so insensitive

That's one of the crazy things one comes across in this hustle. These people do not understand that waiting for someone is more tasking than driving or burning fuel.

Billed a woman 4k for waiting for more than two hours based on our initial agreement of a round trip around VI. The son called to complain that I over charged her mother since I wasn't burning fuel.

For me, any wait beyond 10 minutes is not acceptable. I will end the trip ones the wait extends beyond ten minutes and negotiate the rest with you offline. I charge per hour, an hour is 2k. You can keep me waiting for a whole day so long as you pay me accordingly.

Negotiating for offline trips should be time based after factoring distance to be covered. If the time exceeds what was agreed, the rider will need to pay for the extra minutes or hours as the case may be. Time is money for me.

If the woman wasted your time beyond what was agreed, bill her more for the time taken from you.

Its everywhere, even bolt.

Come to think of it, I still see those Moove cars in January, how are they meeting up? Cos even if they get preferential treatment from Uber.

Right now, Uber can't manufacture riders out of the thin air for them.... I'm just wondering..

Nothing we no dey see for this our hustle.

Picked up a lady to a place I later realised was the boyfriends house. On getting there, she told me to wait for like a minute and take her back to where I picked her.

For this winter, I don happy die. True to her words, she she came out not long after she entered. I changed destination and headed to the original pickup point.

Turns out she forgot her phone so she asked me to please go back to the place. As I was going back, one rough looking guy was trying to tell me to bring down my glass. I just quickly central locked the vehicle and kept going only for the lady to tell me to stop for him. I asked if she knew him, she said yes. So I stopped and the guy entered.

As we got back to the house, the guy told me to end the ride so he can pay. The lady on the other hand told me to just wait for her to pick up her phone. The lady went inside.

This was how this guy came to meet me and started shouting that the girl is his fucking girlfriend and if I don't end that trip now, he will lock the gate and that is the end of my money because that girl is not coming back outside.

I quickly remembered the discussion the last couple of days about the girls who took drinks from the guys house so I told the guy, even if she's your wife, she's the one that ordered the ride and the only one who can tell me to end this trip. The guy said okay and banged the gate. I also heard him lock it from behind.

My plan was to end the trip after 10 minutes of not seeing the girl, report the incidence to bolt and then get my money from her whichever way I deem fit.

The lady came back not long after, said the guy has siezed her phone and she has no option but to pay me. She also said the guy has vowed to give me a very bad rating with her phone for not ending the trip when he told me to and she hopes the rating won't affect me.

Told her not to worry, collected my money and left.

There is winter; meaning low patronage. It is usually like that in every January/February. Your car might be put on overwork by drivers due to low earnings just to meet up with target.

Do You dig?

Young man apply for a job or better still build on your passion or goal in life. As a young graduate that you're Uber job should be the last option on your list so don't dent your young career with it.

But if you have a sponsor that's still willing to sponsor you further your education then you can do the uber job as a side job at your leisure.

Drop that poverty mentality of "fast way to make money". The patient dog they say eats the fastest bone.

Advice from an experience friend.

We are currently observing winter and it will last till early or mid March due to low patronage. Couple with the covid 19 leading to a lot of restrictions, curfew and lockdown to some businesses.

We hope for a turn around c9me next month.

The market is trying to pick up... I don't know your income expectations , but if it's the standard rate.

The driver will struggle to cough it out, and it's your golden goose ( vehicle) that will take a beating unnecessarily.

By February things will pick up. No stress on you, the driver and more importantly the golden goose.
