@Topemama1 or anyone else that has recently given birth in the US: Please help with tips on how to go through POE legally and successfully 1. Where was your POE? 2. What questions were you asked and how did you respond? 3. Was your bump visible? 4. Is showing burden of proof of financial ability to pay medical bills enough? Or you had to fully pay your medical bills before travelling? 5. Did you have to take COVID tests or quarantine? What were the associated costs? |

So for other mums and dads who may be wondering, the answer is No. If one or both parents will not accompany the minor to the passport appointment, get the hard copies of the notarized docs sent to the person that would accompany the child (no scanned notarized docs. I was hopeful, given the current delay in services of DHL). You also need to use a US based Notary public in which ever country you reside. Hope this helps someone else. Gracemum: 3 Likes |

[quote author=Debbieeeeeee Skace I don’t really know about the situation of things now at the border , but make sure you’re carrying enough money and your correspondence from the doctor here in naija and abroad. Be sure to talk to a perinatologist or a MFM. You will carry to term in Jesus name Thank you for this and a big AMEN to your prayer. My aunt has made arrangements for me to talk to a perinatologist over there. To think that some insensitive people here have the nerve to assume that iam irresponsible for wanting to birth in the US , where i have family, for wanting the best for me and my child. I lost my father last year because of the incompetence of the doctors who were supposedly good. Plus other experiences ive had so if this makes me irresponsible i'll gladly wear the cap. Their stupidity knows no bounds but to each his own. God bless you for your prayers. 4 Likes |

iguita: Okay nice! Will love to use something different that’s why I opted for the hospital. I always have my kids in different hospitals and state. You should book an appointment so that u can get a date before delivery. The embassy allows few people at a time because of the COVID. |

rozeybid: Appointment dates are filling up fast. You may need to hurry so you can get a date, that’s if you do not already have your visa. |

Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by mom2015: 1:04pm On Jan 22, 2021 |
rozeybid: My initial visa was solely to give birth, I had been TTC for over 4years and I was granted. Pardon me but I’ll like to call myself one of the ancestors except that I wasn’t really active on the group. My subsequent visa were granted to me with no issues, I still make sure to tell them I most likely will visit for medical reasons. I usually have some minor complications during pregnancy because of the drugs I use to prevent threatened abortion. The last one affected my liver and I lost my sister to childbirth. So I believe every interview is unique and we can tell our unique stories to the VOs rather than the generic ones and that’s y I chose to use a hospital in a totally new environment. I hope this answers it all. 3 Likes |
