oty1993: Yes. Usually, you get a mixture of loan and grants. There’s an OSAP estimator online that can give you an estimate of the money you will get when you enter your information, it may not be accurate though. The purpose is to to give you an idea. This is for Ontario, I don’t about other provinces- but I know some provinces (like SK) require you to be a resident for at least a year before you get this benefit. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Thanks, I just found out that a masters is required to be a certified psychologist or mental health counselor. I am worried about the cost. NaijaCanadian28: |

silvamania: It depends on what you wanna get, usually between 600 to 1200 for a one bedroom and 2 bedroom respectively. I would recommend you get a 2 or 3 bedroom and share with other students to reduce cost. Or download the kijiji app and join Facebook marketplace for shared accommodation. i.e. someone had already rented the flat and you rent a room in there, you will simply split all cost(hydro and internet) equally....each man maintain his room.... 1 Like 1 Share |

Hello everyone, I landed Canada about 13 days ago, so about to end my quarantine. I am in Toronto and would love to be added to a Nigerian WhatsApp group. Please if you belong to any WhatsApp group for new students/immigrants in Canada, add me. I am alone here and I need as much support (information) so I don't make mistakes. Thank you. 2 Likes |

Good day everyone, I need advise I am certain I am not the first and won't be the last that is having this challenge. I am presently collating our documents we are due to submit next week but I have an issue with bank statement.. my spouse i.e my husband is unaccompanied but all our funds are in his fixed deposit account.. I intend submitting his statement and also notarizing a letter to show the funds are accessible to me and my son when we are ready to travel.. please i need the opinion of the house as you are more experienced.. your input will be greatly appreciated |

Several responses have been provided to this question in the EE main group. If your spouse is unaccompanied, you can't use his account as POF. The easiest thing to do is have him transfer the funds in your account and you do gift deed. Remicynt: 5 Likes |

Hello everyone. Please I am about to start sowp application for my spouse. Someome mentioned that one can do the application from within Canada and use the representative form. Has anyone used this route? Also please I will really appreciate if anyone can help out with samples of their letter of invitation and the sample letter the spouse needs to write. Remicynt:You're looking for who will validate your actions, even after CIC link showing it can't be in his account was shared with you? what other information or justification do you seek outside the details on CIC website ? what exactly is the issue? is it that he can't remove it from the fixed deposit or he has refused to send the money to you? 7 Likes |

Good day my people. I must acknowledge the good work and contributions on this forum. They are really informative. Please I need response to some queries about switching career into nursing. I studied Microbiology and graduated with a 3rd class in 2009, I also went for PGD and had a distinction in 2015. I got some info on the internet on after degree nursing, Licensed practical nursing. Nursing has been a thing of fulfillment for me cos incase the salary is not encouraging or getting the job is not easy, I will still go for it. I'm in my early 30s 1) What are my chances for admission when i land as a PR I'm still at ECA stage? 2) Which of it will you advise I go for? 3) How affordable is the school fees and is it possible to get scholarship. Please be open with me. |

Why don't you hold on until your PR is in the bag. Work on getting that first nah. Also, if you really researched well, you would see that the tuition fees for PR holders and Citizens is far lesser than International students. Moreover, you can apply for grants and loan. As regards question 1, I think you just have to try. Apply and be hopeful. Midapat: |
