hoppa:

You need a new passport. You do not have to stay in the hotel and make sure the hotel you are booking is confirmed.

You can call the hotel directly to find out the status of the your hotel reservation .

Thanks alot hoppa, I thought as much just wanted a confirmation.

I am chilled - very... However, no one here has given you any advice...

I did say think about 4 to 6 months from now which will put you in the summer and with any luck, the vaccine might have reduced the impact of Covid...

It is because you wanted to do it on your own that makes it even less attractive and exposes all the red flags including coming as a tourist on a 6 months visa.

To start with, how can you expect them to believe you when you say you earn #250,000 and only spend #50,000 a month?

If this was a visit then you will not need a Hotel and your hotel budget is way off...

Don't waste your money until things settle...

Your child who is a US Citizen doesn't need to apply for Visa to the UK, that's one of the pecks of been a US Citizen, just buy her return ticket and she is good to go smiley

You can apply for 2yrs visa or even 5yrs visa, just ensure your documents are adequate enough.

All the best

Your sister will have applied many months back but I am talking about present times.

I shall still maintain that only someone that does not really care about losing VISA money that will apply next month.

A lot of people in the country want the border shut to only essential travel. The covid test was not even there 1 month ago and now you have a possible mandatory hotel quarantine being discussed.

British people cannot even book for holidays and these are people that do not really need VISAs

And you want to encourage someone with £900 budget to apply for a 6 months tourist visa for next month.

I told him to hang fire but I actually think he will be rejected anyways unless he has a good sponsor and good ties to Nja.

What tourism is there to do when the country is in various degrees of lockdown and the hospitality and travel industry are being thrown under the bus?

Get real!

I wonder why people still apply for a tourist visa at this critical time ehn.....

Many are still applying for USA visit visa when no interview at sight.

Nigerians are so amazing sad

She applied on the 8th of January! Its a 6montjs visa. You don't have to travel the next day after you get your passport back. You can travel anytime within the 6months.

Everyone situation is different... Some people travel all the time and go back to Nigeria... Those people get Visas easier...

Visiting (even if it comes under tourist visa) is very much different from someone that wants to go sight seeing without being sponsored.

Lastly, we are not cut the same way - some people are super rich, have strong ties with Nigeria and super connected...

Someone wants to apply for tourist visa in the midst of a pandemic where it is possible that the government might introduce compulsory private funded hotel quarantine - 10 days might cost over £1000... Please!

Even getting the Visa does not mean one can easily travel... UK government might be processing visa applications because we know it is all about the money...

The cost of visa is not cheap for someone to waste it just like that...

I like the comment above about the USA, that is sadly, the Trump effect. They are not playing games just for money like the UK - they are banning non essential travel, period!

Hello Guys,

Really appreciate the efforts of the contributors on this thread, God bless..!!!

Need your assistance/advice on this query:

Am currently on a Tier2 work visa, and had my traditional and court wedding done last year and planning for the church wedding for August 2021. The plan is to have my wife come join me permanently here after the wedding, so looking at starting the application for her.

Please what visa route would you advise I take, Dependant or Spousal visa as I believe they are different.?
Would we need to provide evidence for English proficiency? If yes, What evidence would you suggest?

Thanks for your response.

Nigeria labelled high risk

How come? UK and their discrimination and money making schemes. They want chop our money despite knowing that we don't have the sort of exposure to covid that they have. And we are one of the first to introduce test on departure and arrival.

I just hope it does not come until next week or ever! But the move has been gathering pace especially from locals that cannot effectively go on holiday.

The cost has just gone up by 200 or 300%

She is to fill Tier 2 partner dependent visa form pls. Not spousal visa.
Be careful in doing this, if u apply for the wrong visa type; she will be denied and the visa money lost

I don't see it that way. This is a policy measure to protect UK citizens/residents.

It is really encouraging. Sometimes, I wonder how this countries do their things. Nigeria has one of the lowest death and infection rate compared to other countries but they still find a way to add them in the initial list.

It is better now that, it has been removed from the list because we are not supposed to be there in the first place.

It is funny that most of the countries on that list happens to be African countries.

U can bear ur maiden name on ur passport as long as u have wedding certificate and other evidence to prove u are married, change of name on your documents is not compulsory.

she may be sent an email to provide a new passport. Her passport with them would be returned and after she renews, she would submit both passports (this happened to me in 2014 when I had a defaced passport. They sent me an email to do new passport and submit both old and new passport. The application was still denied sha OR she may be denied out rightly. The rule is to have 6months validity on your passport, not valdity of your passport to your travel dates.

Thank you. Fingers crossed. Hopefully they send an email to provide a new passport rather than outright denial.
