In Nigeria of today, things are commonly shared between the six geo-political regions we have now. Those regions cut across ethnicity. As a result, you may see someone from North central yet he is Yoruba. Likewise you may see someone from south south yet he is Igbo.
This is not the first time we are experiencing a situation like this in Nigeria. Some years ago, Mike Okiro an ethnic Igbo but from south south was made the inspector general of police in Nigeria.
Now, I advise to stop all the ethnic nonsense going on here and hope he does the job to our satisfaction.

Well, if your lineage is igbo, then u are igbo. There are igbos who even answer yoruba names. There are yorubas who bear igbo names. The issue is not mainly by the name. It is the lineage that determines all these. U are igbo my brother. There is a difference between geopolitical zone and ethnic lineage. Ur lineage is igbo in a different geopolitical zone.

For one thing, where Amaechi comes from has no border with Yoruba land. However, where Irabor comes from has border with Edo, where Irabor is a common Edo surname. Another thing is that if Ameachi's children should adopt Rotimi as their surname and the question of if they are Yoruba comes up, they can always say that they chose their fathers middle name.

If a person has an Edo surname in a place such as Agbor, which is Igbo speaking, but borders Edo land, we have to assume his ancestors were Edo settlers, which makes him Edo and not Igbo. Some Agbor people with Igbo surnames even deny being Igbo, to even talk about Irabor with an Edo surname

One word: migration.

If you trace the origin of your forefathers, there's a high chance that they came from Igbo land and settled in Ubulu Okiti and inter married in the process. Hence the Edo and Igbo names.

Abeg, what happens is whether he does his job or not.
