Tramadol is a restricted pharmaceutical product used to treat severe pain and be administered only through prescription by medical professionals. Manufacturers in India have rebranded the opioid Tramadol to Tafrodol to evade detection by customs officials at Nigeria's ports and borders, a report by Enactafrica has revealed. https://saharareporters.com/2021/01/29/indian-manufacturers-rename-tramadol-evade-detection-nigerian-customs%E2%80%94report 1 Like

Better people... as if tramadol itsself is not much in circulation. Misplace priority all the time ...the day Nigeria restructured all our sector will be d day we start getting it right, a kid of 10 year will walk into any drug store without real doctor prescription n get any drug they want n u want to curb drug abuse? So I was d first to make a comment wao, this am dedicating to myself me and for those trying to make d first comment better days ahead, keep it up one day u will achieve this millstone just know that it haven’t been easy, commenting on thrash’y topic n ones that have no real value to us too.. 12 Likes

Those people(the manufacturers and our own importers/marketers) are desperate to make their money not minding the side effects and complications of their products. I hope FG use lethal force on violators of the Usage and importation policy. It's high time we rose against our own common enemy. |

In August 2020, the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) intercepted 33 containers of Tramadol shipped from India worth N1.3 trillion in three different locations in Lagos. 1.3 trillion worth of tramadol - it will be difficult to stop the shipment. The will keep on devising new format. They can't afford to lose such a huge sum. |
