This is what we use to survive in Germany after BA is finished... we work for 5-8 hours with 45mins unpaid break (pause) inbtw for 11-12€ per hour..., Is not easy offloading those containers of goods, but @ the end of the month, smiles on your face will take off ll the pains ., If your not strong You can’t do it. #dhl #dpd(hellmann) #blg #amazonngt 12 Likes

Basalt: No I didn’t say that you must return to Nigeria after 2 years. You much research on your own to know what work for you using conference and get a visa is one part that can open the way for better opportunities, go come back and restrategize whether you gonna use study to relocate or other means, I just told you what worked for me. I have other friends who got the visa through conference and they traveled up to 2 or 3 times still in Germany they are cool some left and also doing well. Good luck to your decision. 1 Like |

Very important information about health insurance I would like to use this opportunity to point out a very important thing you need to understand if you want to stay in Germany. In Germany, there are two health insurance companies. 1. Private (Mawista, Care concept etc) 2. Public (TK, AOK etc) 1. Private health insurance: Very cheap initially but it's a big trap especially if you want to stay in Germany because the price increases when you get older until it gets to a point when it will be a big burden for you and changing back to public health insurance will be very hard if not impossible. Also, some companies don't accept it for full-time employment and depending on the selected option, you might not be cover fully. If you are always sick or have health issue, please STAY AWAY from private health insurance as a student 2. Public health insurance: More than twice the rate of private insurance initially but becomes cheaper with time when you get older, it also covers everything and acceptable by all companies. My experience that made me bring out my time to write all these. I came to Germany and started using private health insurance because it was very cheap and I actually saved money using it because I was paying only 30 euro per month instead of 105 euros my classmates are paying using TK. 105-30 =75Everything was going well until this year, I was converted from Addeco to full-time Amazon staff and they told me that because it's full time job, I must present a public health insurance otherwise the contract won't be possible. Then I researched fully about health insurance and discovered that private insurance is actually not a good decision for those that want to base in Germany. Please research about it and get informed. I also heard that once you change from public to private, you can't change back to public again. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Goztino: A friend in Germany told me that he was told to pay €198 monthly by a PUBLIC health insurance because he is over 30 years of age. How do such student survive with such an amount? 1 Like |

Paperworka: It's really much o o o, let the person use TK na. I was paying 105 with TK before my company took over. Though I am still less than 30 |

Re: Nigerian Students In Germany..how Do You Survive?? by Basalt(m): 4:16am On Jan 30, 2021 |
Paperworka: I just researched about it. TK is above 105 for those that are above 30yrs. You can read more about health insurance here https://www.reddit.com/r/germany/wiki/health_insurance Because I work with a company that pays my insurance, I don't have to pay that even when I reach 30 provided the contract still runs. 2 Likes |

Basalt: He told me that all public health insurance all said that since he is over 30 he is to pay €198+. |
Re: Nigerian Students In Germany..how Do You Survive?? by Paperworka: 9:40am On Jan 30, 2021 |
Basalt: he said that he has confirmed from all the public health insurance and they all said same thing (€198+). So my question is how do such student survive? |
Re: Nigerian Students In Germany..how Do You Survive?? by Basalt(m): 8:05pm On Jan 30, 2021 |
Paperworka: Firstly, it is not your friend, it is YOU. You are asking for yourself, not for any friend. Secondly, I will advise you to use private health insurance since you are above 30yrs old unless you are suffering from any severe sickness or having any health challenge that regularly requires a medical doctor then you can use public and protect yourself more. You will save a lot of money when you use private insurance as a student above 30yrs. As a student, you will save about 1million naira or even more within just one year if you use private health insurance instead of public health insurance when you are above 30yrs. Then after you graduate and get a job, you can now switch to public health insurance under the employee option. private is about 30 Euro per Month while public is 200 Euro per month for those above 30yrs. 30 x 12 = 360 Euros 200 x 12 = 2400 Euros 2400 - 360 = 2040 2040 Euro difference. So in summary, using public health insurance at 30yrs+ as a student is very expensive and I won't advise that especially if the person is young, vibrant, and healthy like most Nigerian students I have seen. 2 Likes |

To folks in Germany; What are the Pre and Post-graduation opportunities for those in the field of management sciences (e.g Msc in International business, Business Management, etc) ? Also, must a student who graduate from this field only work or search for opportunities in it, even though he had taken some IT courses and certifications while studying? Thanks |

1. I am not a Management Science graduate but I think roles that has title like Business Analyst, Controller, Project Manager, Business Development, Product , Sales etc. fits. You can search on Job portals like stepstone.de with those titles to get better idea. (You can use the German equivalent and combinations of those words and more). 2. You can work in a related field or of interest. There was a modification to this particular legal provision about 3 years ago but convincing HR people or recruiter is always not an easy task (especially in smaller cities), as you don't have access to present your case beyond the submission of your application documents (except during JobFairs). So, you can also apply for IT related opportunities and I think applying to those Business roles in IT companies should be a good combination. 3. The opportunities available pre-graduation is largely internship, working student and research engagement in the same areas mentioned in (1). If you don't have much work experience already, most of the big companies offer Graduate Training programs. If you are also interested in Entreprenuership, there is a not-so-new title in the startup world now, called Entreprenuer-In-Residence. water4: |

Honestly, I give it to those students in Germany that start another MSc after finishing one. It is indeed not easy to do an MSc here in Germany let alone doing TWO. It is brain tasking especially if you are in science-related courses. Their Maths no be here 3 Likes |

I think you have to out things into perspective. First of all Canada GDP per capita is only $300 below Germany's, so it is not poorer than Germany the way you put it. Secondly Canada Economy like USA's is based on oil & gas, energy, manufacturing and services. I'm not sure if you have seen the US economy decline because of fall in oil prices?? Instead Canada economy is growing... like US's I understand you really enjoy and love Germany but you shouldn't say other countries are both of or that they will go down. The thing with Canada is expectations... people go there with the mindset that they will bad white collar jobs without adapting to the local market skills, and it is really bitter for them to have to go back and do these kind of jobs they never thought of, just to pay for their bills and rent. In Germany on the other hand people go with either a tourist visa or a study visa and are prepared to hustle... who would you think will enjoy most the first year on arrival? Those who land in Canada as permanent reaidents and skilled or those who land in Germany with a tourist or student visa? eastafro: |

Good Day House, Please I need very honest and mature responses. If you don't have a reasonable response to give, I'd rather you just keep mute and allow those who have something reasonable and worthwhile to say to do so. My younger brother is in Poland 1st year Msc but is now desirous of moving over to Germany, He has applied to some schools and is expecting their responses. 1. Is anyone familiar with or has made such a move before? 2. We are confused when he does get the admission, is he supposed to go to the German Embassy in Poland or go to the Foreigner's office in the city he intends going to validate his residency (His 1yr Student Polish Visa is still valid). 3. Pls do we have anyone here studying in any of the schools in Bremen? Thanks for your sensible responses NairaLanders |
