descarado: Ate it growing up. It was usually cooked overnight, it was then mixed with akpu mmiri (wet cassava chips, especially ones shredded with knives) palm oil, ehuru (African nutmeg) akanwu (potash), crayfish, salt and pepper while some do sprinkle in ugba/ukpaka.....na traditional meal that takes time to prepare! You can be creative with it, accompanying with carbohydrates such as yam but it can take forever to cook, reason it is regarded as an old woman's delicacy! 2 Likes |

Pavore9:Oh, thank u Was looking for what we can eat it with or how to prepare it,found nothing. I love traditional foods. Just that to prepare some of them takes a whole day. This one is like cooking cocoyam. It takes ages but it's the best tuber ever. And you are not guaranteed it won't itch you when eating even though you cooked it hours But eating it with ncha is worth the time spent cooking it. That thing is super sweet 1 Like |

yerilistik: Way easier removing the outer coating than that of our regular black-eyed peas. Soaked it and came back 2hrs later, very easy washing off the outer coatings.....less stressful! 1 Like |

Darkseid: I find lentils less stressful and the variety of black-eyed peas I find here in Nairobi is high blood pressure inducing when it comes to de-coating! I doubt if up to 1% of Kenyans eat black-eyed peas! |

Re: Cook In Your Kitchen, Take Pictures And Post It Here. SIMPLE! by descarado: 11:54am On Jan 30, 2021 |
mariahAngel:Not the ones you can get in naija. This one is a total disaster. There is nothing you put in that beans that will make u like it . Akara that is the last resort is still not sweet. I have since dumped it to the brown one. Oloyin() Just that it's very expensive here. That one your mum love is still my favourite. We call it iron beans. Better than the brown one. Worst is dangote beans. |
