BastardWike: You ain't different in any way from Anyim who made that reckless statement. Yes,reckless statement in the sense that it is capable of hurting Igbo, politically. You see, you're the one that's blinded by emotions here because there is no where in my statement where I did say or suggest that south east slot should be given to south south. The point I made was very simple : there was no need for Anyim to utter that statement. There is wisdom in silence often times. Assuming the presidency is eventually zoned to the south east, won't you need the votes of these same Igbo people outside of the south east geopolitical zone ? Won't you need the votes of the Ikweres,Ikas,Aniomas etc. How do you think they will feel about Anyim's statement now - brotherly, friendly ? He has rejected those people politically with that reckless statement of his ! Now what makes you think an Ika, Ikwere or Anioma man can't become the President of this county in 2023 ? With Anyim's statement now, would you blame such a man if he refuses to identify with Igbo people ? Clearly, you're one of those shallow minded people that are saying the new CDS Irabor Nduka is not an Igbo man even though the gentleman speaks impeccable Igbo language as his mother's tongue ! Mr Logic, since the day you guys have been applying the so called logic in your political manoeuvering, has it ever worked for you ? Yoruba people don't make reckless statement that will later hurt one of their own,be it Okun,Olukumi,Itshekiri or whoever ! My point is that you guys can keep quiet while you still achieve whatever goals you set for yourself. You talk too much ! 3 Likes |

Qelvin:Stop lying to yourself, your lost igbo tribesmen are in cameroon, Anioma are not igbo. Just face reality. Your delusion is such that you don't even see why saying a person named Edozien is Edo wouldn't shock any reasonable human being. 1 Like |

Nyanabo:Ofcourse, the igbo have mastered the art of langrabbing. They claim you for your land, but whenever anything good comes along, they deny you and remind you that in reality, you are not part of them. But you can only blaim yourself for being stupid enough to fall for their tricks in the first place. And bless God you realized all this now rather than waiting to join them to form a country and face incredible marginalisation. 4 Likes |

Qelvin:It is clear you don't actually undertsnad anything which you are talking about. 1) there is no people called Edo-state. 2) Edo state is piece of land which was named as such in the 1990's, it is part of a land which the british colonial admisinistration named "Benin province" 3) Edo state is a part of Benin empire, just like Delta-state, Lagos and many other parts of nigeria 4) The name of the people of Benin empire is "Edo", and "Edo-state" got its name from that already existing name of the people of Benin empire. I hope you understand now. 5) All your talk of yoruba or igbo influence is nonsensical. 1 Like |

PHijo: Actually as a Yoruba man, the guy is telling you some truth. Nah because I schooled in the east and I have been to some places in SS. An average Yoruba man calls anywhere after Edo state as Igbo land. Most Yoruba cannot differentiate between An Igbo man from Ibiobio man or calabar man. But Ijaws are a bit different some Yorubas will differentiate you in your dresses while some won't. That's why I always laugh at some Igbo's rejecting ikwerrwe or aniomas. An average Yoruba man knows these tribes in the south, Edo/Benin, Igbo and Ijaw (that's because of GEJ influence) And an average Yoruba man can't differentiate an Urhobo guy from IJaw or isoko (me self I'm yet to differentiate between the two (isoko and urhobo) ) 3 Likes |

Anioma161616: [/s] I'm not interested in your face saving rants, according to the structure of states in Nigeria you are only found in your tiny one state, your hogwash claims of been an empire just to usurp other people into your dead and expired empire can never work cause the average Afemai, Urhobo, Itshekiri, Anioma people etc have never claimed to be Benin except having some ancestral links to the old Benin kingdom. Right now it's a known fact that parts of Edo are under Igbo and Yoruba cultural influence, you appropriated the Oba title and the Yoruba deities from the Yorubas and then shamelessly turned history on its head and claimed Yorubas stole it from you... Oduduwa was a Yoruba prince not Edo... Benin people never had a history of their own so they had to steal from others and then distort history ingratuituously. 1 Like |

privaldo: I like your disposition so far on this conversation. So mature! Apart from the identity issue being discussed here, there's a deep mistrust between the Igbos on one hand and on the other side ethnic groups like the Ikas and Ukwuanis in Delta State. Your posture so far here can foster a healthy discussion, but a number of folks from the south east seem to have a more of ownership claim to ethnic groups in Delta North. |

Anioma161616:No you are evidently the slow one here so I'm using your warped logic against you. I've clearly stated that prominent Anioma figures have already established they are Igbos and I provided you the names... you're too inconsequential a tribe to tell them what they are or are not. Edo is a minority tribe not even up to the population of a local government in Imo state, so it's an insult for an Igbo person to debase him/herself into any Benin affiliation. 1 Like |

Qelvin: I think you don't even know what the word history stands for. 1) odudwa is a fairytale, his story is fictional, not historical. 2) Actually the history of Benin is recorded by people who saw precolonial Benin and recorded it with pen and paper. There is no possible logical way to claim Benin people are turning history upside down in this case, unless you also want to claim some Benin people have time machines. 1 Like |

Sammy07: It is understandable if you can't differentiate between Urhobo and Isoko. Lots of similarities between both. My biggest problem is when people refuse to understand these differences yet they want to make decisions that would affect those people's lives. It also shows they don't respect other people in Nigeria, if they did they will learn more about them. I wonder why the major ethnic groups in Nigeria feel it is right to be ignorant! The same way Yoruba and Igbo people have referred to every group in the North as Hausa. 1 Like |

Anioma161616: 1) You haven't provided any proof of Anioma traditional rulers claiming to be Well here you go 2) You have ignored proof of Anioma traditional rulers claiming to be Edo Please provide the verifiable source to prove that all these Anioma traditional leaders said with their own mouths that they are Edos. 3) You have ignored proof of Anioma rulers showing artifacts which establish them as Edo Dude I'm tired of repeating myself... Lots of Western Igbos were under the influence of the old Benin kingdom, so having artifacts from Benin shouldn't be a big deal, before the establishment of the Benin kingdom, what language did these people in Anioma speak before they came under the reign of the Benin kingdom? what cultures did this aborigines practice before they were influenced by the Benin culture? how come they were able to retain their language, names, ways of life etc even decades after the end of the Benin kingdom? use your brain dude... having Benin artifacts was simply because the Benin sphere of influence which is still noticeable in various traditional cultures in Anioma lasted for many generations... that doesn't make those people less Igbos. 4) You have ignored precolonial maps showing Anioma as being Edo Colonial maps showed what they met on ground which was the Benin kingdom and the people under it, many of whom were not Benin. BEFORE this colonial maps showed Anioma as been Edo as you stupidly claim, what were the original people in Anioma called before they came under the Benin influence? what language did they speak? how come they still retained their names, languages, cultures etc with only little hints of Benin influence till date? Use your brains, I hate going in circles.

Qelvin:1)Claim: Asaba people are edo. Proof: Picture of the King of asaba below. (1st picture) 2) Claim: traditional rulers are edo Proof: picture of the dein of Agbor below (2nd picture) and video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXZ9rJVIMh4 3) don't ask me what language Anioma spoke before Benin empire was established, t$it is possible that there was no such thing as Anioma people before Benin Kingdom was establihed, anyway I don't have a time machine so I can't answer that silly question. 4) You can't prove something while you take that thing as an assumption. And you are taking your claim of anioma being igbo as an assumption to prove that same claim. Therefor you are not reasoning properly. 5) The fact Anioma traditional rulers practice Benin tradition is actually very significant since the palace is the place in which the tradition of the people lasts the longest. And this clearly shows that Anioma are Edo. It is a very big deal.

bigfish3k: 1) What we call Benin today is different from what we called Benin in precolonial days, precolonial map of Benin below: 2) Language similarities exist between Edo and Igbo languages. Also, it is self serving to claim some languages which have some similarities with igbo are actually igbo. No they are languages in their own right, they also have similarities with many other languages. 3) You gues tend to use population effectifs as justification for everything and that is wrong, there are several reasons why there would be similarities between different languages of different people today. For example english borrowed many words from the languages of the nordic tribes. English borrowed words from french and even german... 4) the last time anybody with half a brain tool the language=family theory seriously in europe was in ww2 when ignorant hitler was claiming poland based on the fact some polish people spoke german. The world has grown wiser since, apparently nigerians didn't.

Anioma161616: For the sake of clarity, common sense and simplification of facts... You still haven't told us how these so called Edos from Anioma answer Igbo names, speak a clear and undiluted Igbo variance but intelligible dialect of Igbo, dress like Igbos, practice the traditional Igbo 4 market days etc... is that the Igbo genes they "inherited" were far too superior to their original Edo genes that they suddenly woke up one morning and couldn't speak a word of Edo or bear Edo surnames? When I ask Edo delinquents this simple question, they revert to changing the topic or cooking up fallacies just to further exacerbate the crookedness of their bare faced lies. 5 Likes |

Qelvin:Actually, you seems to not be very smart. As I said, I am not a time traveller, I can not tell you something which wasn't recorded by anybody. Also, as I keep telling you, it is very possible that there was no such thing as Anioma people before the creation of Benin ! Also you don't seem to understand that I do not agree with your claim that Anioma people ever existed independently from Benin. To me Anioma are exactly the same as Esan or Afemai or Urhobo... |

Qelvin: 1) you are clearly wasting my time and rehearsing questions which i have already answered. 2) there is no such thing as igbo-varaiant, rather there are several different languages which you guys have found convenient to call igbo-variants. 3) "Irabor" is an Edo name (funny you ignored that), Oba is a japanese word (and also an edo word), but the oba of Benin is not japanese, or is he ... there are an infinite number of reasons why people of today were named the way they were named. I tend tp not take that as an argument because it doesn't prove anything. 4) you clearly have nothing to contribute, I believe you know that you are talking nonesense. i shall ignore you from now on. 1 Like |
