Clueless Leadership usually gives way to bad policies and hardship to the citizenry. Such is that of Nigeria. Till now I can't fathom why $ to # rate remains twice as it was before this present FG came to power with their clueless promises of a better Governance. How can you keep borrowing from year to year! If every country was borrowing who would be Lenders? FG increased prices and taxes on all fronts. Very incompetent and clueless. Anyways Proactivity Leads To Productivity!!!! @SeniorWriter 3 Likes |

I don’t have anything to say to this, because everything about this country have tired me. No clue no direction. Just take a pretty look at our senators and House of Representatives salaries. Look at the excesses and luxury lives of the ministers. Why can’t something be done to minimize our spending spree? No security, no job, no power supply, gone are those days when people campaigning for political post talk about doing water supply. Nobody talk about it in there campaign anymore. They have resolved us to hand dug well. Only God can make Nigeria great again. Only him!!! |

The people ruling this country are empty heads. I am yet to see something they got right. They make the country difficult for people, then they squeeze them to get money from tax, fuel and electricity hikes, then they share 5k to lift them out of poverty (smh), then they borrow the future of this country. All the while the value of Naira is falling, the minimum wage can even pay a child's school fees, politicians are cashing out and the insecurity keeps mounting. Which way Nigeria |

Igbochief001: Plenty, if you ask me. The fact is, we need railways everywhere because the roads are being worn out by the excessive amount of transporitng goods and servicces by trucks. Kaduna-Kano-Abuhja is very busy, for example....as is Enugu to anywhere in the North. We need a nationwide rail service, for more efficent transport of petrol, cement, etc etc. Or we keep fighting with Dangote trucks on the highways. 2 Likes |

Well spoken Sir. This government keeps borrowing to invest in bogus and inflated projects ridden by corruption. They squeeze and make it difficult to do business which leads to high rate of unemployment and criminality. They turn around with the almajiri mindset to share N10,000 to N20,000 under various cost heads. We will wake up to realise that we have wasted 8 years. Solution is a restructured Nigeria with the right policy framework to encourage and drive investment. |

lastclaire4: Well, if it helps us to reduce the amount of traffic on our roads used by trucks transporitng stuff to Niger Republic, and helps us see more traffic to our ports since now we have a rail link from Lagos to Niger via Kano and Katsina, what's the problem Infact the NEXT project should link us with rail to Cameroon, Benin and other African countries. Niger uses our ports to import stuff. A good rail link would make them use our ports more...since goods and services can be transported easily from port to border. Meanhwile, traffic on our roads would ease up..and note that Niger can't use Benin because Benin has no good rail link. 3 Likes |

But our approach is always to budget and borrow to fix infrastructure, part of which would go into corruption,” he added. “At the end of the day, they vote N10bn to construct a N2bn road; the remaining N8bn would have gone into private pockets, yet they won’t complete the project. The next government would say it’s not their project, so they would abandon it. We can’t develop infrastructure like that.” |

Igbochief001: I think it is urgent we build up our railways, even if it means taking loans to do it. Because the amount we spend fixing roads all the time is too much.... Plus, rail transport is cheaper really. It means reduced prices for stuff...since no more road related expenses 1 Like |

While justifying the loans, the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, said on July 31, 2020, “When we stop collecting the loans, then we will stop developing because there is no money. Before we came, the money had been blown. There were no funds.” You want to share ₦5k to bring 24m(₦120b) people out of, poverty. You want to employ 30k for 774k youths each for 2 or 3 months (₦24b/month). You share trader money, farmer money, etc. Money that could be used to build infrastructures that will help people out poverty and misery, you share bet 1 Like |

Vardanes2: You said it as it is. The rest of the problem is truly policy. All the bad roads in Nigeria are as a result of lack of rail transport to move heavy goods. With cargo trains, roads will last longer saving billions spent on roads. The policy of banning certain goods on roads need to be implementedas soon as we can get some rail.lines. The next issue will be minimum wage and standard of living. As it is now even the Abuja-kaduna rail isn't affordable for low income earners. The lines won't be too. That means what we need now are cargo trains 1 Like |

Pablo47: Word. Word! But the truth is, government loves these type of free money programmes because they are a cheap way of getting votes. The fact is, we should not be spending scarce resopurces on things like these....when we have prokjcets like rail that need it more. 1 Like |

Igbochief001: 1.Good idea at the bolded 2.Well, with the amount of cargo that can potentially be transported via rail...I can see rail paying off the debt in some time eventually..plus the link to Niger Repoublic means them Nigeriens would be paying us too for the use of our rail. 3.We are in a borrowing state because we are a resource dependent country. And it is because neither party has any idea that we need to change the way our economy is run is one of the many reasons why I don't vote APC or PDP. |

This PWC tax head is just a scholar with no local sense of how Naija can work. We privatized power... what has changed? Or isn’t the power sector viable again? Forget other countries! I’m yet to see them proffer tailor made solutions for Nigerian problems. Government taking loans to build railway should not be seen as a problem BUT government failing to immediately concession the rail lines built should be seen as a problem. The latter is the Nigerian solution not the former. How many company’s can actually invest (pioneer investment) in Nigeria’s rail sector ? Do you know the cost run? So when they fix the price at the reflective price of N Naira who will pay? We already have many classy restaurants folding up Cos the number of people who can afford their meals are not many enough to break even those that ain’t folding only Cos they are being used as money laundering channels. 1 Like |

Egbon Taiwo should shut up and stop taking rubbish. Mention one major public infrastructure in Nigeria that was developed by private investment since 1960? Or is he saying there has never been an enabling environment for private investment in public infrastructure? Even in developed countries, it is still the government that is paying for massive public infrastructure. We should be encouraging government to develop our infrastructure in an open and transparent manner and not criticizing them. There is no sense in criticizing just for criticism sake. Btw, let’s even assume private sector is funding some of these massive rail and road projects, are Nigerians willing to pay the actual market prices of the services those public projects would render? We’ve seen how Nigerians always resist increment in price of electricity since it was privatized. Even the Lagos-Ibadan railway that was priced commercially has been massively criticized by everyone. So, which private company will invest billions in public infrastructure when the people are not even willing to pay the appropriate prices for public services? 3 Likes 1 Share |

“Look at power; since I was a child they have been talking about power, whereas electricity is not rocket science. If you fix the regulatory and policy environment, the companies like Siemens, General Electric have billions of dollars and they are looking for where to invest It’s literally this easy, just allow other companies with money to invest and make the power sector more competitive let’s see if we won’t have light 247.
