AGAIN AND AGAIN

We have been forced into silence by our votes
We refused to learn from past experiences
' Ah! This One is different' , we thought.

Like whirlwind, we were swept off our feets
Leaping with joy
Like a little child who had been gifted a toy
After being promised dinosaur over and over.

Here we are today
Regretting the choices of yesterday
Wishing we had ' toed ' the right path
So we could at least get a plate, just a plate.

Like birds they flap their Agbadas
While we sleep on empty stomach
Ah!!!! My people my people
We have been played like a game of chess
The same way we have been played before.

Alas!! Game over
Stalemate would have been better
But no, victory to them, again
We have lost, like we have always lost
Bags saddled, going back home to be back soon.
