Good morning everyone. Thank God I found an educative thread like this. I just finished my MSc in Information Technology. The question is, can I go back to Engineering for my PhD with MSc in Information Technology? My B.Eng is Computer Engineering. Also, which of the Nigerian universities can I proceed with for my PhD if the event I'm unable to proceed to Engineering? I discovered most Nigeria universities don't offer information Technology at PhD level. Your guidance is paramount to my next step as I await your response. Happy weekend in advance!!! |

Hello Everyone, My spouse study permit was denied last year based on family ties in canada and country of residence, on current employment situation and on personal assets and financial status. I want to reapply this year. My spouse manages the family business. How do I tackle these reasons for the denial last year. Thanks |

Hello, I read your questions. Please note that career change happens and nothing is wrong with a change in career path in as much as it shows logical progression and its objectives are realistic. Remember that everyone will have different circumstances, hence I will suggest that you read my earlier comments in unison. In your Spouse's situation there are many positives, all I see is a need to be a bit more objective and realign the facts based on the peculiarity. In specific response: Your Spouse's current workplace is a Hospital (medical services), he is not working in a Bank (financial services) or any other sector. In this case, your Spouse holding a Bsc in Microbiology is a positive, all he needs to do is to show continuous work activities that makes his Microbiology progressive as well as he taking on managerial functions because he is a part owner of the business being a Shareholder. This gives you an opportunity to tweak his previous CV and SOP to align as a Microbiologist who is involved in administration/management of the hospital. Whereas, he is seeking the managerial skills to be better at his work. I do not think being designated strictly as an Administrative Manager has helped this either, he should have been designated with a role that accommodates both his academic qualification and future plan, e.g. I had suggested Director of Clinical Services and Administration (for instance). It shouldn't be a change of career for him but rather supplementing his Bsc in Microbiology with Business Management to improve his managerial skills and to support the growth of the business. Since you pointed out that he genuinely wants to study management. I also noted that someone suggested to you to consider a specialised management in healthcare, I agree that this will also align better in addition to my earlier suggestions. Please note that this is a personal insight and suggestion based on only the information you have provided, as I cannot have the full picture, hence the decision lies with you. I wouldn't be making further comments on this situation so that you can take your time to make an informed decision. My best wishes. Cuddles7: 1 Like |

Wifefo88: One copy for each is okay. Either coloured or blank and white is fine. You can print out the letter sent to you from IRCC in colured ( they are going to scan the barcode at the bottom of the letter, i guess to validate that the letter is authentic) but the VFS appoitment letter can go in black and white copy. You can target to be there 1 to 2 hrs before time. All the best. 1 Like |

I’m new here can someone guide me I just finished my NYSC and planning on having my masters there in Canada so I don’t mind if anyone can recommend a school for me over there and their link so I can register and apply for a program. Thank you. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Yteem: 5:42pm On Jan 31, 2021 |
Circular202: Welcome, First you can go through the thread and read up from the past chats, it will help you. Also no one can recommend a school for you without knowing what course you want to study and all that. You need to decide on what you want to study, then narrow down by searching for school that offer that course. You can then narrow down and look through their requirements and see if you qualify. You can then apply once you meet their requirements. 2 Likes |

Good evening everyone ! please is there anyone here that has a medical booked for either Qlife or IOM for next week but won't be able to go cos of any reasons? I've got a medical booked for the middle of February but I'm hoping for a sooner date, and I'll be glad to trade medical appointment date with anyone who might be willing to shift their appointments to later days. Thanks. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by englois: 7:50pm On Jan 31, 2021 |
Hurllarh: I actually have an appointment booked for tomorrow at IOM Lagos but with the way it's done online, I don't think it's possible to swap. During registration, name, passport no,address were used to generate a reference ID which is particular to each person. |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by silvamania: 8:37pm On Jan 31, 2021 |
Hurllarh: No need for private chats now If it’s ethically possible to swap . Why not say it here so others can learn Private chatting wouldn’t help the growth of this forum All the best 2 Likes |

Mozidat2301:There is more to just getting Admission in Canada. If your bro. gets an Admission, he should be ready to show Future goals/Career Prospect of what ever program he would going for cos how the program resonates to his First Degree is one of the thing a Visa Officer looks out for. Getting Admission is Important, getting Study Visa Approved is IMPORTANTA All of that will be explained in an SOP (Statement of Purpose) SOP Step-by-Step Guidelines https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part#88892909 https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/1#88913289 The above Program your bro. studied at Bowen University is mostly available for Masters, unfortunately his 3rd Class won't qualify him to apply for a Masters in History & International Relations program in Canada So with his 3rd class, he is only eligible to apply for a Post Graduate Certificate (PG. Cert) program that relate to his History & International Relations degree, but he has to convince the Admission Committee he would be a good fit for the program despite having a 3rd class. He should go through this content Possible Solution/Way for a 3rd class Graduate to get Admission for a PG. Cert program in a College https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/700#97090650 That bin said, I doubt if there is a PG.Cert program that is related to History & International Relations. Your Brother needs to be Creative to possibly get an admission, cos - his 3rd Class might be seen as a Poor Academic Standing - he would need to be creative in connecting his First degree with another degree. Reason why am suggesting he should go for a PG. Cert in Journalism is because this could make him have a Career Prospects/Future Goals in INTERNATIONAL JOURNALISM Why did I say so, with a Bachelor's degree in History & IR & a PG. Cert in Journalism, - He can be concerned with human rights and issues relating to war and peace, and he might be looking for the opportunity to develop the journalistic skills necessary to communicate this to a wider public. - He can have the opportunity to undertake the academic analysis of a range of critical approaches to the study of war and the media, journalism and conflict resolution and journalism and international human rights. This are just tips & possible Reasons for him to study a PG. Cert in Journalism, despite having an History & International Degree. He can do more research on Google to see how International Relations relates with Journalism. Sequel to that, your brother should do a thorough research (google) on the following PG. Cert in Journalism programs in Canadian Colleges & check their Admission, Tuition amount for international students, course outlines etc. - PG. Cert in Journalism & Communication Holland College, Prince Edward Island https://www.hollandcollege.com/programs/journalism-and-communications-post-graduate-certificate.html#program1 - PG Cert, Broadcast journalism – Television News Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Technology, London, ON journalism (Post Diploma) College of the North Atlantic (CNA), Stephenville, NewFoundLand & Labrador PG. Cert in journalism – New Media Sheridan College, Oakville, ON journalism (Postgraduate) Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning, Toronto, ON PG. Cert in journalism – Arts and Entertainment Centennial College, Toronto, ON Sports journalism (PG. Cert) Centennial College, Toronto, ON PG. Cert in Contemporary journalism Centennial College, Toronto After he has done his due diligence about the above schools, he can check like decide on colleges that suites him to know his chances of getting the Admission & apply to like 2 schools, cos application fee is within $95 CAD & $100 CAD, but if you have funds to apply to more than 1 or 2 schools, do so. THIS IS JUST MY OWN OPINION, YOU CAN AWAIT MORE ADDITIONAL RESPONSE FROM THE GURUS & HONORABLE MEMBERS IN-HOUSE 3 Likes |

silvamania:I don’t even know if it’s possible to swap or not. I was rather trying to know the details of the appointment, furthermore if the swap was gonna happen, don’t you think there will be some sort of private communications anyways? To clarify, I’m not trying to contribute negatively to this or any other forum , you just seems to have mistaken my intentions or taken my words out of context. |
