I noticed a 4 year cycle in the movement of some stocks, especially the large caps and some banking stocks. It appears that these stocks peak between 2 to 2.5 years from the start, and from there it is a downward movement till next cycle. Interestingly, it coincides with the elections. Thus, if this conjecture holds any water, the current bull (don't get me wrong here, up and downs yes but overall trend will be up) will last till 2022 to mid 2023, from there back to bottom. Note that I teased this from 10 years of data and may not be representative. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

ositadiima1: Zenith as a case study: Lets start with d definition of some terms. 1. Seasonality: It is a periodical fluctuation where the same pattern occurs at a regular interval of time. 2. Box and Wisker plot: A boxplot is a way to show a five number summary in a chart. The main part of the chart (the “box”) shows where the middle portion of the data is: the interquartile range. At the ends of the box, you find the first quartile (the 25% mark) and the third quartile (the 75% mark). The far left of the chart (at the end of the left “whisker”) is the minimum (the smallest number in the set) and the far right is the maximum (the largest number in the set). Finally, the median is represented by a vertical green line in the center of the box. The dots are outliers. 3. Autocorrelation plot: A little hard to explain(if u insist do a google search) but it is another way of detecting seasonality. The first plot is quite self explanatory, u can easily spot the 4 year cycle. Sorry, not displayed in the chart, y-axes is in closing prices and x-axis is in years. In the second plot u can see as well the periodicity of the data points (I have about 2000 data points from 2012 to 2021). If you are familiar with sinusoidal waves u wont have problem agreeing with me that it appears to have a period spanning over 1000 data points(roughly 4 year cycle). Other Large caps have similar distribution. Once again I admit that the data is too small to come to real conclusions but it was fun. 6 Likes 1 Share

hafisbabatunde: Start with learning how to code. U can use Coursera, can also download d app on ur phone. It is a platform with courses, mostly free. Register and search for "Python 3 Programming", it is a course serie. Or, if u like reading then download d following books: 1. Think Python How to Think Like a Computer Scientist by Allen B. Downey 2. A Byte of Python by Swaroop C. H. 3. Automate the Boring Stuff with Python by Al Sweigart 9 Likes 2 Shares |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ositadima1(m): 10:31am On Jan 31, 2021 |
hafisbabatunde: Good. Next is to gather materials. To download almost any book do dis. 1. Install Tor Brouser on ur android phone. 2. http : // loginlibhuwhnmis . onion/ 3. Visit d site above without d spaces in ur Tor Brouser and register. And search book titles. 4. If u can afford them, please buy them, people put in a lot work to make them. Books I found helpful: 1. Search for Pandas to access several books on the subject. Note that Pandas is like a spreadsheet but a million times more powerful. The ones I found interesting are: a) Think in Pandas b) Hands-on data analysis with pandas c) Python for Finance (2 different books with same title, both are good) d) Python data science handbook e) Python for data analysis 2. For algorithmic trading I found these interesting a) 151 trading strategies b) Inside the black box c) Quantitative trading d) Build reliable trading systems e) Algorithmic trading f) Systematic trading g) Trading evolved 3. Also search time series analysis. Ok, ok don't freak out, I don't read them cover to cover, I jump around and try stuff. Very important, u should be trying out the codes in dis books. The gaps in my understanding I plug with google search, stackoverflow, github etc. Regarding d data I use, I have referenced many times how I get them. I even posted a Google drive link to my data set. Happy learning. 11 Likes 2 Shares |
